1. I can't believe that people think all 11 people on the field have as much impact on a teams chances vs. the 1 person who handles the ball on every snap. Damn that Trey Teague for holding the ball too long!! Damn Lee Evans for not seeing a rusher coming at him on his non-blind side!!! Damn Willis McGahee for throwing passes too low or behind the receivers!!!

I read somewhere that there are 11 positions on offense all of equal importance! :P:P

  2. I hope that TD doesn't fall into the trap that the Giants front office staff did. They relied on McNally's expertise to turn garbage into gold on the OL and ignored drafting OL with high draft picks(rounds 1-3) over several years. In time, it caught up with them. An OG with either the 2nd or 3rd round pick should be a given, unless this is going to be addressed prior to the draft through FA.

  3. Pete Carroll would be a fool to leave USC.

Nobody ever thought Spurrier would leave Florida. Successful coaches of big time college programs(Saban, Spurrier, Switzer, etc....) must let their egos get to them, because they have the world by the balls, alumni kissing their ass, recruits begging to come to their programs and yet they want to prove that they to can be successful at the NFL level. Let's see how Saban likes being the coach of the Dolphins next year.

  4. Good question. I took this from the St. Pete Times sports section. It has a "Quote of the day piece" Thats all there was. What killed me was what the attorney said, not so much that Taylor couldnt say the abc's.

...The field test involved six separate tests. Taylor performed fine on some of them, such as tilting his head back and touching his nose three times, but struggled on others. On one, he hopped around and let his foot touch the ground while counting, and on another he missed three letters (j, m and n) while saying the alphabet from e to o.

McLain argued that the entire video should be considered when evaluating Taylor's state. McLain pointed out that Taylor pulled the car over perfectly straight and in the middle of the shoulder and didn't show any signs of being tipsy during the several minutes Boggess was back in the squad car.

Mutnick agreed, granting McLain's motion to dismiss the DUI charge after considering "the totality of the entire video." Mutnick added: "I've seen a whole lot worse."

  5. I've been looking over several mock drafts.  I know its early but several of them have us taking C.J. Brooks a guard from Maryland.

    Any thoughts?

I'm all for taking a guard. Tucker is OK, but remember how many time WM had to break tackles in the running game at the line of scrimmage. It's not like huge holes were being opened the majority of the time.

  6. Since you're struggling so much with the most basic of concepts let me break it down even further for you. On some teams the QB is their most important offensive player, but it's not exclusive. So let me say it another way because you apparently are unable to remove your blinders about the position. On some teams their most important player is a RT, on others a WR and on others and OC. The reason you struggle to understand this is apparently because you spend all your time wathcing the ball during a game and you consequently fail to see the difference makers on any team. It's fine you choose to believe it- you're like 80% of the casual fans of football who are naive enough to believe that foolishness and I don't intent to make you any more knowledgeable a fan than you have chosen to be.

As to your "yes" and "no" questions you again have zero perspective as to my observations- and I'm perfectly willing to prove how little you know about football by asking you to list, in order of importance and impact to the team, the starting players on the Buffalo Bills offense this past season.

    195549

So you tell me in previous posts that no one position on offense is more important than the other 10, but then you turn around in the post above(in bold), and state that depending on the team, all positions are not equal?? WHICH WAY IS IT?

Asking me to list the Bills players by their importance to the team proves what about my football knowledge?? Are you the ultimate authority on this subject?

Regardless of which way I list them, you would tell me I'm wrong, so what's the point. Just because you come here and tell everyone that you go back and watch a game 55 times on tape and "here is what is REALLY happened on a given play", makes you more of an expert than me?

I'm done replying to your posts. An "average fan" like myself is not worthy of talking football with an expert like yourself. :D

  7. Within the mix of a football team, or for this discussion the 11 players on offense, there is no one position that is more important than the other 10.

Hey AKC..just a reminder to answer these questions. How long does it take to type yes or no three times? :)

Since you responded to my post with the same statement I questioned to begin with, I'll ask again and a simple yes or no will suffice. No need to ramble on for several paragraphs that isn't needed. I'm using the same word you used "important"...

Manning more important to the Colt offense than Tupe Peko...YES or NO

Vick more important to Atlanta offense than Dez White...YES or NO

Culpepper more important to the Minnesota offense than Bryant McKinnie...YES or NO

  8. i like campbel, but A. Gates is a ERFA, so if the chargers dont pay him the cash hes a FA. could you imagin our Offense with him at TE.

Campbel gets 3 cetches a game or less, but Gates is a beast. and a great target for JP, and could be the base mismatch for our Offense.

i dont think anyone has braught this up, but who knows

    what do you think??

the link to where it says hes a ERFA:

Gates came out of nowhere and I'd love to have him, but there is not a snowballs chance in hell of the Chargers letting him go.

  9. Another hard pill for the Coy crowd to swallow - more evidence that our boy Coy is just 'decent' and 'replaceable' on STs after all.  Or another way to think of it - his liability of not providing competent depth at his defensive position is not overcome by his contributions on STs.

Steve...when I posted this thread, I knew you would appreciate it! :)

  10. I think the formula additionally considers the performance of the player on his new team. What is not included in the compensatory pick process, are any players who are cap casualties. You do not receive any compensation for them.

For last year, the major players(UFA) we signed or lost were....we added Villarial and lost Winfield. Let see what that gets us in terms of a compensatory pick.

  11. One comment on the CB position....TD needs to do eveything possible(without killing our cap) to get Clements signed to a long term extension. Of course it's possible that NC wants to test the waters after the 2005 season and in that case there is nothing TD can do.

  12. To me the Josh Reed experiment is over.....either get an H-back....bring up Aiken.....whatever....the guy needs to be a big physical receiver who isn't afraid to go over the middle......

    194947

TJ Housmanzadeh would be a great target, but his play late in the year is probably going to drive up his price. I was hoping to see more of Aiken, because he has the size to be that possession receiver. Hopefully he can make some major strides in the off-season.
