1. My wife and I just bought one at Best Buy for $35 - a $10 mail-in rebate.

It's not fancy, but it does everything we need for our upstairs TV. It plays DVDs, DVD-Rs, CDs, CDRs and VCDs. It has component and s-video out, along with standard RCA.

If it breaks in a year and a half, who cares? We'll buy another one for $25.

Did they try to sell you an extended warranty that cost more than the player itself?

  2. Within the mix of a football team, or for this discussion the 11 players on offense, there is no one position that is more important than the other 10.

    194787

Since you responded to my post with the same statement I questioned to begin with, I'll ask again and a simple yes or no will suffice. No need to ramble on for several paragraphs that isn't needed. I'm using the same word you used "important"...

Manning more important to the Colt offense than Tupe Peko...YES or NO

Vick more important to Atlanta offense than Dez White...YES or NO

Culpepper more important to the Minnesota offense than Bryant McKinnie...YES or NO

  3. ONE weak player within a group can regularly be exploited and quite often is the difference between the success/failure of a play.  This was seen when CV left the field.

I won't even get into Chris Watson or Eddie Robinson.  Painful.

So in the event of an injury where a player cannot play in a game, losing Tupe Peko would have the same impact on the Colts as losing Peyton Manning?

  4. If you and these "logical and smart" fans owned a team the roster would include 14 QBs, all of whom would rotate for playing time because not a single one of the owners would understand the game of football well enough to grasp that the QB is no more important a player on the field than the other 10 guys who play with him on offense at any time. Maybe I can't use that- chances are your team would regularly try to field 12 and 13 guys to line up on offense! (and considering your obsession with the position probably two of them would be QBs!)

AKC...I question your statement above that I highlighted in bold. Are you trying to say that Peyton Manning is not more important to his team than his RG Tupe Peko?? Michael Vick not more important than WR Dez White? Dante Culpepper not more important than LT Bryant McKinnie? Drew Brees not more important than WR Eric Parker??

  5. I don't know if it works automatically, but you can do it manually by embedding multiple quotes. ie:

EDIT: It appears that the reply button kills the old quotes... So you do have to do it manually.

This is what it looks like (replace the ()'s with []'s):

    (quote)This is quote 1.

    (quote)This is quote 2.

    (/quote)(/quote)

Thanks Fez. Was it always this way? I seem to remember when you hit reply, you would get everything??

  6. I have no idea why so many on this board detest Nate Clements.  He and Spikes are by far the biggest playmakers on the defense.

Anyway, Len Pasquarelli of ESPN put him on his 1st team All-Pro.  That's right, one of the best two cornerbacks in the entire NFL this past year.  It's just one writer's opinion but high praise for #22.

By the way, Spikes and McGee (KR) were on the team as well.

    194230

I was down on Clements last year and was hoping they re-signed AW and let NC go after 2005. His play this year has changed my mind. Even though he has the occasional brain fart(against the Jaguars), his overall play including defending the run was pretty damn good. I'd try and lock him up with an extension during the off-season.

  7. Why do you give MM and Tom C. so little credit?  Having coached JP day in and day out and watched both players play the game up close and personal and studied every ounce of game film, why can't you accept their judgment that for now, JP just isn't ready?

    194017

You're probably right...he isn't ready NOW, but that's ok because there are no regular season football games for 8 FREAKIN' MONTHS. The question is after all the mini camps & training camps, will JP be ready to go??

  8. This is my frustration with the attitudes around TSW for the past year or so.  I kinda tired of the constant "Look at me, I know more than anyone else when it comes to football".  That is the problem with the DB/JPL situation -- on both sides.  It was the problem with the TH/WM difficulties.

When the guy is ready to play, the intelligent, football knowing people who want the Bills to succeed will make that decision.  You guys are trying to micromanage the Bills organization more than most people do in relationship to the job that the President does -- and that's not an exaggeration, as unbelievable as it may sound.

    194013

Nobody is claiming to be smarter than the front office staff and coaches, it's just part of being a fan. So what is your recommendation for proper board etiquette??? If we don't talk about what players should stay or go(TD decisions), who should be a starter or backup(MM decisions), who we should draft(TD, TM & scouting decisions), what would this board consist of?

I'll tell you what it would consist of......a whole bunch of OT posts and an occassional "TD is god", "The Bills are great" and "I never take off my rose colored glasses" threads. Boy that sounds like fun. :D

  9. I did!  I started the thread about our defense, and it was promptly hijacked which caused me to start this thread.

Fez..I understand your frustrations on thread hijacking. I don't like it myself and try to refrain from doing it. I'll do my part to keep other football threads at the top of the board, because for the most part, once a thread leaves page one, they are usually gone for good.

  10. If he can be signed to a cap friendly contract(which I don't believe will happen), I'd take Jennings. Instead, I sign Williams to a 1 year deal(Edwards or Anderson to replace him after that) and spend the rest of the money finding a replacement for Jennings.

  11. To the folks(this isn't aimed just at you fez) that don't like all the DB vs. JPL threads(crusading), I started a thread 3 hours ago on what changes do you expect on the OL. The thread got 1 response and is almost off page 1. Instead of getting redass over all the crusading, bring something to the table to discuss or respond to something already out there! :D

  12. I think the only two givens are Villarial at RG and Williams at RT. LT, LG & OC could all be changed around. I believe Jennings will be gone in FA as somebody will be willing to throw huge dollars his way. Possible scenarios(RG & RT stay the same, so they are not listed)....

    LT Teague

    LG UFA or Draft

    C Tucker

    LT UFA or Draft

    LG Tucker

    C Teague

    LT Teague

    LG UFA or Draft

    C UFA or Draft

I'm hoping that even if they change positions that Teague and Tucker stay in the starting lineup as they have worked with McNally for a year and know his scheme.

Any opinions on how this will play out?

[edit]I forgot about Price. I believe he is also a UFA. I'm not sure where he fits?

  13. ok....but if you run into any rams fans in your travels, i 'd be curious to see what they think.  me, i am just happy the STs are no longer costing us games...i just think it is interesting that rams fans wanted his head on a stake last year, and meanwhile he has turned us into a special teams powerhouse...it doesn't add up, but i'll take it!

    193319

I was chuckling to myself as the Jets ran back a kickoff for a TD against the Rams on Sunday. Hey Martz you putz....I guess the problem with your "special" teams wasn't Bobby April?

  14. A simple yes or no will suffice. Do you believe that the Bills WILL win a Super Bowl with DB as our starting QB? I don't care if DB can get us to the playoffs...who friggin' cares. I don't believe that he can lead us to the promised land(if by chance we get in the playoffs), therefore it is time to turn the page and go with JP in 2005.
