What does that have to do with testing the open market? I simply mean that signing now is pointless when he could wait 4 days to weigh his options elsewhere, knowing that it'd likely help his case in Buffalo. Waiting till FA opens gives him an even bigger bargaining chip

Why not? Safety is one of the more replaceable positions. He was an average player who will get good money on the open market. He's gone and I really don't see it as a big hole

I love the rich history of the Buffalo Bills and have the utmost respect for the success Ralph, Bill, Jim and co. reached. But I am tired of living in the past. Everyone refers to the 90's, living on the great successes that just aren't here any more. There is also a lot of misunderstanding that 3-4 indicates 3 down lineman. While it can be, the 3-4 is more on an indication of the shades in which they play more than anything.
