  1. Clay was not restricted he was transition tagged...he was an UFA with a tag. He counts in the Comp Pick calculation.. By the way love having the MEGAHAND back...a healthy Carrington is an upgrade in the Bills depth which was already pretty damn good. Now get Spikes back please.....
  2. Bills are still due a comp pick... Lost Dean, Spiller, Searcy, Smith, Pears (Hairston was a non-tendered RFA I believe) Signed Clay, Felton, Carrington, Taylor (Harvin was cut, Cassell and Shady via trade) There was probably competing interest in Carrington -- likely from Pettine. That's the reason for signing him now.
  3. I will invite the other Raleigh/Durham locals to chime in...this is from watching NC State games this year. The last two years he has been strictly a RT he has a massive frame with super long arms--even for his height. This makes him tough to get around. He uses his leverage and strength well in the run game but is slow to get into pass blocking position--relying too much on his arms -- which likely won't cut it in the pros. I can't ever recall seeing him to get to the second level in the run game. So bottom line -- More of an interior prospect than a tackle to me but lets see what happens.
  4. 5th-Jake Ryan - ILB/OLB Michigan - Strong but a bit undersized, 4.65 speed, contribute on teams right away 6th -Darren Waller - WR- Georgia Tech-6' 6"-- 4.45 speed 6th - Tayo Fabuluje-OT - TCU- Massive -- missed three years due to Red shirts and Transfers but started every game at LT for TCU last year-- has lost 20 lbs on coaches/scouts advice since the season ended - 6'6" 338 -- nimble 7th - Christian Covington - DT - Rice - 290 lbs - quick off snap -- has DE potential in 3-4
  5. Is today too literal Friday? Did I miss the memo? If we are going to suspend the ability to be a little sarcastic, posters should be informed.....
  6. Cassel is an infidel....I just hopped on the draft Petty cut Cassel bandwagon. Everyone in that picture except Gronk will be drinking Mint Juleps with a raised pinky finger this weekend. Gronk will be hammering good old straight Kentucky bourbon...no fancy ass mixes for Gronk.
  7. Reading Jerry is vastly overrated...
  8. Rex got really sheepish when the Petty question was asked...totally out of character for him. It was like when your brother asked you about a girl you secretly liked a lot when you were in middle school. My read is they like him a lot....
  9. Weeb Ewbank was Joe's coach--he beat Don Shula in THE GAME. Joe never played for Don Shula or Tom Landry so he knows them by reputation. Jace Amaro is more credible than Joe Namath on this topic. In defense of Rex -- when Tannenbaum left and the team had the marketing meeting to move away from "Rex as face of the franchise" he knew he was out. How motivated would you be to be a hard ass those last two years. I hear him talking about EJ getting the ball out quicker and players needing to improve already with the Bills -- he focuses his accountability to play on the field. With leaders like Kyle, Freddy and Wood -- I think the Bills have enough guys that will self govern each other if tardiness or off field stuff comes up. Rex should not be the first line of defense for tardiness -- he should be the guy who cuts the habitual offender who doesn't get the message from the player leaders, the position coaches, etc.
  10. Sounds like the kind of personality that Rex would enjoy....plus he can play G
  11. Fanspeak is fun. Worth the $5 to get the premium service and their draft guide. Just did this..with the composite big board and probably 10 trades -- 68 - R3P4 G A.J. CANN SOUTH CAROLINA 81 - R3P17 OLB LORENZO MAULDIN LOUISVILLE 100 - R4P1 ILB TAIWAN JONES MICHIGAN STATE 140 - R5P4 TE TYLER KROFT RUTGERS 155 - R5P19 WR TONY LIPPETT MICHIGAN STATE 177 - R6P1 OLB DAVIS TULL CHATTANOOGA 179 - R6P3 RB MATT JONES FLORIDA 188 - R6P12 DT LEON ORR FLORIDA Orr is the huge kid who got benched for one game and left the team in November. He wasn't let back on....I just read a story about he and his agent -- his agent is also a high school principal in the Schenectady area.... http://www.forbes.com/sites/darrenheitner/2014/12/02/leon-orrs-agent-opens-up-about-representing-the-controversial-florida-gator/ Might be worth a flyer...
  12. Off Topic but I was thinking how we used to trash Overdorf under Ralph and now he has been the man this offseason... We used to write don't "Overdorf it up" Now we say -- "Overdorf it done".... Life under the Pegula's is definitely more fun....hopefully it results in more W's and January and February football.
  13. Nice post Tipster....no one wanted the Bills now no one will want to play the Bills......build a bully
  14. Yep! With family -- most amazing game in stadium I have ever been to.... Second is the 2011 Pats game....had my then 12 year old daughter, 9 year old son and 6 year old son with me...by the end of the first quarter the 6 year old said "I want to go back to the hotel" -- I said-- "This is the Bills my dear one-- just when you think it is darkest there is light and just when you think there is brightness there is dark on the horizon." Fleeting times where a dad looks smart to his kids -- the Bills made me look good that day...
  15. Dibbs will keep me honest on this -- but don't forget the top 51 rule...Lets say the Bills sign Smith to a vet min contract (which is $970,000 for a 10 year vet) and Landry and Spikes to $1.5 million contracts -- three contacts with $585,000 (which several players on the Bills around the 51st salary make) in base fall off the top 51 which means that the Bills get $1.755 million in "falling out of the top 51" cap room for these new contracts -- essentially only raises the cap commit by $2,215,000 to sign these three players to contracts that reflect their worth. This still leaves room for draft picks and a couple of vet mins in case of injury.... https://nflsalarycapguru.wordpress.com/ The top 51 rule means that for any player whose P5, again essentially meaning base salary, is not among the team’s highest 51 Cap numbers, his base salary would not count against the team’s total Salary Cap number during the offseason. However, all of the bonuses a player who does not fall under the top 51 would count against the team’s total Salary Cap. For example, imagine a team’s 51st highest Cap number is $500,000. The team’s next highest Cap number is $475,000, which belongs to a second year player and the base salary is $465,000. That means there is $5,000 of a signing bonus proration and say a $5,000 workout bonus. This player falls outside the team’s top 51 highest salaries, therefore the players base salary of $465,000 does not count against the team Salary Cap, but the $10,000 would count against the team Salary Cap. The rest of the players on the team who are outside the top 51 would not have their minimum base salaries count against the Salary Cap, but would have their bonuses or other compensation count against the team Salary Cap.
  16. The Bills give up a compensatory draft pick next year if they sign Smith or Landry before May 12th as others have said -- so unless there is a huge market for either -- they are probably waiting... As far as Spikes goes the Bills have been hanging around Michigan State and Tony Lippert some --I think maybe this guy caught their eye.. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/taiwan-jones?id=2552322 If he lasts until the 5th and some boards have him that low---Spikes may no longer be in their plans..
  17. Hey Vaughn, what league were you in last year.. California Penal...
  18. 66 - R3P2 DE SHANE RAY MISSOURI 81 - R3P17 G A.J. CANN SOUTH CAROLINA 100 - R4P1 RB DAVID JOHNSON NORTHERN IOWA 124 - R4P25 CB KEVIN JOHNSON WAKE FOREST 194 - R6P18 ILB TAIWAN JONES MICHIGAN STATE 234 - R7P17 TE NICK O'LEARY FLORIDA STATE My actual draft on Fanspeak using Scott Crasnik's player rankings database...I just got three first round picks in most Mocks..made two move down trades to pick up the 2 fourths..
  19. Beerball, are you a biscotti dipper? I love Biscotti dipped in a nice cup of Italian Roast. Biscotti's don't last very long around here so this is kind of like the question of "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?"...the F's may never know if a Biscotti can go stale...
  20. Threads like this will quicken the timing for you reaching 50,000 posts. I bet the word idiot has been typed in 30,000 of those... Thank you for your strong dose of reality every day for almost the last 20 years...
  21. Cannot imagine a better rep for TBD/TSW..very cool.
  22. Would rather already have it in muscle memory--its an attitude. The Senior Bowl isn't Suh. Not just pushing back just to be an a'hole my friend -- just have not been as impressed with the available G's as the pundits... I love Cordy as a T -- which is the original thing you called me on -- you were right. But if the Bills draft a pure T and Henderson and say Humphries are better in Kromer and Roman's mind -- what do you to with Cordy?--he is definitely one of the best 5... I'll leave it at that...
  23. He is an awesome talent -- who has a potentially caustic attitude -- latest is he showed up late for A&M's pro day...I would take him in the 6th or 7th and let him be Incognitoed... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000476707/article/no-johnny-but-still-plenty-of-intrigue-at-texas-ams-pro-day
  24. I have watched most of them during the season -- what concerns me is Cann, Tomlinson and Jackson seem to be wait and catch pass protectors instead of "punch first ask questions later" aggressors--tackles are usually more aggressive in pass protection -- and I can see some of the better DT the Bills face just plowing over the better G's in pass situations......
