I am always amazed at how good Abby Wambach is in the air. She gets so much higher than anyone around her and has such timing and control to get up to the ball and then put it where she wants it with her head. To be able to continually do that when everybody knows that's the plan is a testament to her tenacity and skill.
And she's from Pittsford
I work with someone who is married to a sherriff's deputy who was on the scene. Here's a summary of what that person had to say:
It looks like they brought the guy up to the ride via the handicapped access ramp and helped him into the front seat. He made it past the 2 big hills/drops. At some point after that the guy's baseball hat blew off and it appears he may have reached up to grab it and that's what released his grip and got him elevated enough to be thrown out. He went over the front of the car, which then hit him at top speed. I guess the other people in the first few cars were covered in body parts. The ride operators, who had no idea what had happened, let the next train go through the ride.
I'm not sure on the physics of how someone would get thrown forward in that case unless it was just as the ride also hit some slow-down brakes or something.
Compared to her contemporaries, she was the hottest thing out there. Navratilova, BJK, Margaret Court, Virginia Wade, Evonne Goolagong...
I always thought Pam Shriver was cute too.
I dunno about crying, but Whitney Houston's Star Spangled Banner still gives me goosebumps. I may have cried a bit in the Stadium when she performed it before SB XXV.
Webster Hots is doing some AWESOME plates. Way better than Empire or Bay. The tater tot option is a nice addition, and my new usual is a philly cheese steak plate with peppers onions & mozzarella, with tots & mac salad, mustard onions hot sauce (ie everything).
I was there too. I remember Duane Thomas going into the stands after a fan during the National Anthem The stadium was half-empty at kickoff because of the traffic and stadium issues.
