Out of curiosity, what role do you think Zay is going to have going into this year?
The Bills gave him a chance to be the #2 receiver his rookie year and he failed. Gave him a chance to be a slot receiver last year and he failed/is getting replaced by Cole Beasley.
I just don't see a scenario where Zay gets a ton of playing time. That is IF he even makes the team. (I think he will but not a lock by any means)
You admitted before that he at best is 4th on the depth chart.
What 4th receiver puts up even close to those type of numbers?
Once again, this is Not even factoring in that Duke might overtake him on the depth chart
Fair enough and all valid points. But was just saying your comparison with the edelman situation is apples and oranges.
Zay was probably the 2nd or 3rd guy on their depth chart last year, and they brought in new guys this year to upgrade the 2 and 3 spots.
Where Edelman was the number 1 and they brought in amendola and hogan to provide depth to the receiver position. Not to upgrade over Edelman.
Big difference.
Completely different scenario.
Edelman was number 1 on the depth chart and they added those guys to assist/compliment him.
Zay is not even close to number 1 on the depth chart and they didn’t add those guys to compliment him.
Zay at BEST right now is number 4 on the depth chart behind Beasley brown and foster. Then you have him fighting with Duke, Mccloud, Mackenzie Etc. For the 4th and 5th spot.
Sorry but your example with the edelman situation doesn’t compare at all to Zays situation. Completely different
Good post. To nitpick though, I definitely disagree about Zay Jones.
Jones is bad in my opinion and I think this regime is starting to lose faith in him.
I think that is a big reason they added Duke, Beasley, and Brown
I can almost guarantee that Foster is way ahead of Zay on the depth chart.
If the play of both receivers didn’t tell the story, the “speed” trend should.
Bills added Brown, (fast) and Beasley (very quick).
Foster is WAY faster than Zay and was far more productive last year.
I’m 50/50 on him myself.
I like a lot about him but he also drives me insane sometimes with his conservative mindset.
He has finally got a bit of talent around him so let’s see what he does in year 3.
I wouldn’t say the WR position is set. Well I hope not at least.
Brown foster and Zay for the top 3 as of now. I don’t know about you but in my opinion I still think that’s a mediocre top 3.
I honestly can’t comment on Metcalf as I don’t really follow college too much so I’ll defer that to you.
But ya just hoping they get an impact player at 9 regardless of what position that player is
Fair points, was just answering your question.
Colts haven’t been to a SB recently but that Nelson pick is looking pretty great for them so far.
But ya picking a OL high is definitely not a sure thing. The draft at the end of the day is a crapshoot for the most part.
