Of course. Something to be said about paying your own - and maybe they can get out of these deals after 3 years easy - but the two teams in the Super Bowl this past year did damage with a revolving cast of backs. The Patriots never gave a huge deal to a back. The championship Eagles didn't. The other consistently good teams over the years (Steelers, Packers, etc) have not done it. It is just not good practice for a winning team. Not saying you can't win it all paying top dollar for a top back, but you're fighting statistics. CMC might be the one exception to the rule right now but his team is in no position to go on a run.

Seem like reasonable averages for stud backs but I would not prefer signing a back for that many years. Interested in seeing how the money is spread.

Sure Snead has come a long way since trading up with us to draft Tavon Austin but if you look at his roster moves and use of capital over years I don't see how he has been great. They way overpaid Gurley despite his knee history and him being a running back. They traded Marcus Peter's away for, what, a fourth rounder? Only to trade a first for Ramsey and give him that contract? We would be livid here.

The Rams have not been great for years. They recently got a great young coach and started building something but the GM managed to blow all the money and draft picks the past two years which I think will close their SB window prematurely.

Yes. He developed into a solid player - Kudos to McD for helping Shaq grow as a professional - but ultimately he was a poor draft pick from the previous regime. Better edge setter than pass rusher. I did like his moxie alongside Phillips this past year.

Agreed the pass rush has been the weak spot since Schwartz left town. Hughes is good, but he can't do it on his own. I expect Ed to keep getting better in the middle and hopefully some of the signees and AJ will help.

The theory is that Derwin James coming back takes this defense back to the next level, with the help of newly signed Chris Harris. Realistically it is a really solid secondary and two ferocious pass rushers. I think we have the depth on them, as well as a stronger presence in the middle of the field. But there are arguments to be made for Steelers, Niners as well I think.

Schein has been a homer for quite some time, but there is no denying that our D is among the league's best. I'm sure he's loving the opportunity to rep us. Chargers at #1 came as a shock, but I can see it.

Realistically they just need to shut down bars again. There is no way to enforce the distancing rules at all times and we obviously aren't ready to just let the people loose. After months of half-measures we are just letting everyone out again and asking them to be conscientious. It isn't working. Four months ago I was like "oh yeah we've got six months until football; I'm not worried." And here we are, weeks away, and I don't think it's gonna happen. And yet, all these people who claim to love sports doesn't have the patience or concern to do their part in stopping the spread. Our time is here and somehow a pandemic is going to ruin it for us.
