  1. weird...I'm not an Insider, yet I was able to read that article and see the OTC videos of the other teams
  2. you're correct. I mean just look at the way they cover the Packers. It was always about Brett Favre...but the rest of the team was pretty damn good and not one single "expert" even saw that great 07 season coming. I live in AZ and know a bit about these Cardinals. But if you listen to ESPN, all they can talk about about is Larry Fitzgerald and Matt Leinart. If you asked any one at ESPNtertainment Tonight where the Cards ranked against the run, and they'd probably tell you somewhere near the bottom. They were 9th in the league.
  3. wow, no offense DOD, but I'm glad you won't be in the War Room on draft day. You are placing a lot of hope for Youboty to all of a sudden flick the switch b/c maybe some of his hardships now being behind him? Also, at CB, we are one injury away from being in desperation mode....b/c quite frankly we don't know how James is going to play for us. I think a top corner would create tough competition and increase much needed depth in the secondary.....a secondary that must face the likes of Randy Moss twice (possibly more than twice) this year. also, not sure what you mean by this line: I think that at#11, cb might be the best player available in the draft...
  4. Limited experience has been my concern with Thomas from the start. I would think with the urgency the Bills are in to win, a WR with more actual game experience is what our scouts would have been following. Another thing of importance would be which WR prospect played in a pro-style offense more in his collegiate career. all that said, I still would wait til the second round and work the big WR depth of this draft. CB's and DL would seem to net a more immediate impact player at pick #11.
  5. on the flip side, my favorite Fin coaches (for obvious reasons) were Tom Olividatti and Nick Saban.....what the hell, throw in Meat Head as well.
  6. Oliver did it for me...I actually liked Cox in a way b/c he cherished the rivalry with passion equal to that of the Bills players. Oliver was a non factor as far as I was concerned. He didn't show as much on the field as Cox did. A close second for me was Crash Jensen.
  7. i don't know why all the hate....I accidentally had the mute box checked on my volume. I have to say, I understood every word he signaled in that clip. Now McShay??? No help from him. What the hell was he mouthing???
  8. you bastard....i just tried to kill your avatar with my finger....in my defense, this conference room I'm in has had gnats in it on more than one occasion.
  9. am I the only one who despises the term "shut down corner"? Another myth. People speak about this like it's another position in the secondary. Even if we are talking about a guy that offense are scared to throw against, I can't think of that many...and the one's I knew of still could get burned on any given Sunday....particularly SB Sunday. One other thing on the D line's pressure helping average corners play in the cover 2.....I think half the time if not more, it's the above average corner play that helps the D get the pressure. Think about it.
  10. gotta agree with Pat here http://www.nfl.com/draft/story;jsessionid=...mp;confirm=true
  11. wow, i think you just used "-date-" in one post more than anyone ever!!!
  12. Man it almost brought a tear to my eye...great story. "one nice guy, that fella" Bryan Cox's kids might not agree
  13. if most of the "experts" are right, he'll be covering Lee Evans next year.....they are saying Patri*ts are going to grab him up.
  14. Offense: Lynch - one funny mofo and runs harder than anyone would have thought when he was a draft prospect. Defense: Whitner - undisputed leader of the D and possibly the heart and soul of the team. ST - Moorman - I'd take him over any other punter over the last 20 years.
  15. I guess if he were referring to himself in the third person....but Ross doesn't strike me as that type of guy seriously, it does seem like he's talking about a different, more recent ex-Bill
  16. Hard to tell what player or coaching staff is referred to, but I found it interesting. There are numerous other examples of the disparity between attendance and emphasis among certain organizations. One player who spent offseasons in both New England and Buffalo said, "The Patriots offseason program is just part of the deal of being on that team and every veteran is there. Tom Brady is there. Richard Seymour is there. The only guys that were really up there in Buffalo in the offseason were the young guys trying to make the team. Their best players were nowhere to be found. That was one huge difference between those two organizations and I think it really sets the tone about what they are all about." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...rams/index.html
  17. Ok, I don't think we are taking a WR with pick #11. It's gotta be a CB. There are so many big WR's out there. It just seems to me that if I'm the Bills FO, I'm looking for a guy who has the most experience in actual games. The top 3 aren't convincing me of that...(Sweed, Kelly, Devin Thomas especially). Too bad James Hardy has a mark against his character record. I would take a guy like Adarius Bowman if teams let him slide to round 2. The knock was drops at the Sr. Bowl parctices.....listen to Allen Iverson, man. Let the others be enamoured by great 40's and workouts. When it comes to a WR, gimme game experience and consistent production any time. An edge rusher would be great, but he better be better than Schobel...and I don't think a rookie is going to be right away. That's just me being realistic. DT....we have invested heavily here recently. McCargo in RD 1, now we bring in Stroud and Johnson. I just don't see a first rounder spent here. No way KC lets Sedrick Ellis get by them, so forget about that wet dream, as I have seen in a couple mocks. So, now that we have done away with the silly fascination of WR and the respectable wish for a DE and DT, we turn our attention to the real need. CB. If Jenkins falls to us, you gotta take him. That's who I'm guessing the pick is. Thoughts?
  18. if I pick up a RB in the 2nd round, no way I have him back there playing special teams....
  19. my advice.....stop watching or reading ESPNtertainment. they will only aggravate you further, so why not just boycott?
  20. and either way, it still wouldn't matter
  21. a tree fell in the forest too...

  23. #87 I played TE and LB in HS. Well, i almost did anyway. I was a JV walk on in 10th grade. I made the Varsity team, only to hurt my back during the last practice before the 1st game. Then before I had a chance to try out the following year, I blew my knee out near Rich Stadium playing sandlot (or snow lot) after a Bills game. #87 was the number Jay Saldi wore for the Cowboys in the 70's - 80's. I don't know why, but I always remembered this undrafted TE who hung around for about 10 yrs. I guess he wasn't so popular, but he was a guy who did all the little things. I always noticed him making a key block or catch.
  24. he is not doing anything for any team, as far as I know. I did see him a few weeks ago on ESPN, talking with someone about the draft. He was asked which of his draft picks was a "sure thing" and he said Joey Porter was the one that stood out as a no-brainer. .......one could read that last line a couple different ways
