a few character issues that Marv may question. The funniest quote was that one his wife made that time his drivers license was held for DUI. she said "It's been really tough on Reuben and I. We've had to take the limo to the grocery store" several days later, ol Rubes was visited by the authorities for smacking her around...

again, I think Willis' best season in Buffalo came behind a worse line than last year. The passing game improved and our main back didn't. Hard to blame the line when the back doesn't study the schemes.
-
I have seen that example used a few times on this post. I have to respectfully disagree for the fact that many a great back ran behing shoddy lines. Payton and Sandres come to mind, although they were exceptional....true. But they made the best out of their chances. Now at the same time, I really don't think Willis was a total bust......although I am not satisfied with what we got out of him. He was not exactly the smartest, safest choice to take. We needed to start competing with the Patriots...and we spent a pick on a guy who would sit out his 1st season. And in the end, he was a non-factor against our biggest divisional foe. another point i've seen here is that we got 3 picks for him. But it's not like teams were lining up to give us that deal. So we can't credit TD so much for the pick as we should credit the current regime with getting the deal done.

yeah, it's hard to stiff-arm when the defender knows which hole to hit before the runner does... Billy Joe McGahee
-
well, when you take the homer glasses off...... seriously, the same can be said for other FIRST round RB busts.... really. You gotta look at the round and the gamble they took. Your reason about what he came back from (which I admire) can make the bust argument all the stronger....a bust that was reached on....UGH!!! at least old whitey's gone, so it doesn't reflect bad on the current regime.

Well, Willis filled more holes than he created..... hence, 3 baby mommas
-
he's not been released.....and he's still on the depth chart....Willis is not.
-
my neighbor in the next cube says...."You gotta admit...he was a BUST!" to which my quick reply was "Well, you would know all about busts, being a Browns fan.." after the laughter subsided, i was left pondering his assessment of Willis. I'm on the fence about it, but hey....he was a 1st round pick.... thoughts?

two reports I have read (ESPN's Smith with Len P assisting and the AP) reports that this leaves Buffalo with Shaud Williams and Shelton as the only backs left on the depth chart...... "Third-stringer Shaud Williams is the only experienced running back currently on the team's depth chart." A-Train anyone? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2791831 http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AvfI...p&type=lgns

I know he's aging, but he's an upgrade at FB, can catch the ball, would add veteren presence.....why not try to sign him to one year deal? I always liked this guy. Character fits Levy's definition. Thoughts?

Q. POS Mike Williams and Jacksonville...?
mary owen replied to fbzh2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
me thinks he is out of the league. I think Jax actually cut him prior to the 06 season opener -

BILLS REPORT ON ESPN AFTER COMMERCIALS

Did he say anything about teams trying to jew us down for McGahee? -
this sounds like the type of guy a bumbling Marv Levy should hold on to...at all costs
-
one year, one chance. the guy's a bust. man, you are a riot.
-
yeah, the old codger really effed up this time. 3 strikes. Doesn't he see the that this running back fits everything Marv likes in a back? marginal speed questional blitz pick up when he hits the hole, his burst is unstoppable (3 baby momma's and counting??) a guy who will only be motivated by a big payday also, what makes everyone think Willis is "proven" in his 4 years? I should be excited about his potential for 07??? also, last I checked, he's still on the roster. Marv is running this team into the ground...

I'm going to go a different direction here. I agree stuffing the run is a great way to make an offense one dimensional. But I am placing Secondary over pass rush only because of this: Look at the number one team to beat in our division. Brady's movement and pocket awareness makes a lot of very good pass rushing D's look average. If you can take away his receivers, then your "weak" pass rush has a chance to balance out the rest. We've been spoiled here with above average to very g-damn good secondaries over the last few years. I would hate to see us with a weak one.

yeah, i read this and was like "...and the player starting opposite him, Jason Peters, has been a little disappointing also" Just further proof of how ignorant this guy is, he apparently wrote something about Mike Williams being on the line. he deleted it. read this reply from GoBills255: "Whoa...put down the 2004 fantasy magazine. Posted by GoBills255 on Feb 14, 2007 06:04 PM Mike Williams, the #4 pick in the 2002 draft, IS a bust, but he hasn't played for the Bills since 2005. Do you think the Bengals will let Corey Dillon go? He seems disgruntled. I bet he ends up in New England. What will be really interesting is how the Saints handle both McAllister AND Ricky Williams in the backfield. That should make for an interesting locker room dynamic. Other than that, great read and very informative." which prompted this: "Posted by RGawlas on Feb 14, 2007 06:12 PM GoBills255, Thanks for that.. hah, I'll take that out. I wasn't sure if he still played or not. I guess he on the Jaguars now. But thanks for picking that out, I'll take it out of there now. " ummmm.....didn't Jax cut his a$$????? this guy is painfully uninformed.

Ryan Leaf head golf coach at West Texas A & M
mary owen replied to Steve O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
a guy like him should know a lot about golf.... -
probably golfing with Bryan Cox
-
that may be because Jamal Lewis is way overrated. He runs soft and has those little tippie toe steps...has no real burst to a hole. Anyone ever notice how tired Jamal Lewis gets in games? They always show him after a few runs waving for a breather, then you see him sucking all the wind out of the stadium on the sidelines. It's painful to watch.
