  1. Pitiful teenage girl rock.
  2. Football isn't an exact science. I would have preferred the FO made the decision to get rid of Trent before the season started. But given all the variables here, I can understand why they might have decided to give him another shot at the starting role. Sometimes bad decisions are made for good reasons and/or with bad intentions. While I didn't like the decision to start Trent, I gave the staff a pass on that one. As for making the quick decision to correct that mistake, I say "Bravo!" Too many people live with bad decisions because they are afraid of how the admission and correction of that bad decision will reflect on them. I tip my hat to Buddy and/or Chan to dispense with that image garbage and simply do what is best going forward. With a team as screwed-up as the Bills, I expect there may be a few more "odd decisions" and think they should be judged on their merits, and not on the process or whether other teams/HCs/GMs have done similar things in the past.
  3. So you're NOT a Bills fan. You are a Trent fan.
  4. My point is we have only been talking about Sullivan and TG's takes. That there must be something wrong here. Well, something other than Trent stunk so they canned his ass. As for Sully, he is a notorious hater who doesn't understand football, he means nothing. I think the article I posted lays out the reasons and the situations without all the drama. This just may be exactly what it is. A misjudgment on Trent and a quick correction. Why would you keep your bitter deposed starter as your 3rd string QB? Makes no sense to me. It just complicates the make over.
  5. The Bills TRIED to get McNabb.
  6. Starters, yes. Mid-season cuts? You bet your ass the GM (and probably owner) are involved on EVERY NFL team.
  7. How about this, very straightforward, take: http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/article202680.ece Excepts: Strip away all the BS and this is the simple, straightforward explanation. Not really that difficult to comprehend, if you have any intention of trying.
  8. It wouldn't be Chan's decision to cut Trent, Chan is the HC. He would have input of course, but Buddy Nix is the GM. I can certainly see Ralph and Buddy (and the others in the FO) deciding this guy should never have the opportunity to put on a Bills uni again.
  9. No, your real point is: Call Ralph Cheap.
  10. Certainly understandable. But if you simply criticize every move the team makes, because they have underperformed for years, you lose your objectivity as an observer. (I'm not suggesting you have, yet.) Knee-jerk negativity is as useless as knee-jerk optimism. I believe the criticism over the Edwards release is simply knee-jerk negativity.
  11. I don't think he would have beat out Brohm, judging from what I have seen so far. But had he started for the Bills this year, it would have been the worst thing possible for him and the team, IMO.
  12. He could trade the pick. And QBs do tend to get a bump on the slot in those early picks, so he could opt to not pick a QB, but another position. Ralph likes to save money, but the idea he wouldn't pick a QB because he is cheap is a bit preposterous.
  13. I saw bits and pieces of both games. Not a good way to judge, I know. But from what I saw, Luck looked like an NFL QB. He seemed smart and polished and was making good throws. Mallet looked like a raw big guy with a cannon. Looked very flustered throwing away the game in the 4th quarter.
  14. Many here cheered his foolish bravado when he started his reign. I'll give him some time, but he has a lot to prove, IMO.
  15. Whisenhunt "arrived" in 2007. I would think taking that long, and waiting until just before the season to make the move, would be seen as inept. I guarantee you it would be seen as a colossal screw-up if it happened on the Bills. And I would think you would applaud the move as an effort to stop the death spiral. How can dumping your worthless QB be a bad thing?
  16. If you criticize the Bills for starting Trent, you should be rejoicing in their canning him. But to criticize them for BOTH shows malice on your part. They corrected their mistake. That's a plus in my book. The other stuff is all bulls#it. Leinart, a 1st round draft pick, was the Cards presumed starter at the start of preseason. He was cut a week before the season started. I see no real difference between that scenario and what the Bills did with Edwards, especially when Whisenhunt has had since 2007 to evaluate Leinart. Yes, the Bills are bad and have been for a while. But you are simply hyper-critical, and find any reason to bash them.
  17. Do they have "no class" for starting the season with the OC and then simply firing him after three games of the season?
  18. Fred brings no value in a trade. Bad idea, IMO.
  19. Why would that person need to be a homer? They just need to have the ability to read and pay attention. Only a person who wanted to be completely critical and unfair, would ignore it.
  20. The team in in need of a thorough shakeup in attitude. If it does anything to change their approach it will likely be positive.
  21. Tell me about Buddy's poor track record? The truth is, when you lose you get criticized for EVERY move you make or don't make by shallow observers. When you win, those same people say your s#it doesn't stink no matter what you do. This is a situation when the Bills are being trashed for no good reason. Trent was done with the Bills.
  22. BS. Trent is DONE as a Bill. They could continue to pay him, but he was done taking snaps at QB. Better than Brohm? This year Trent wasn't better than any QB. He quit on the team and the team knew it. I think Chan let him stay for a week to see if the line and team really were the issue. Guess what? It was Trent. Why keep a guy you will NEVER use. I think they'd be better off bringing in Levi Brown if they needed a QB in an emergency. He might not do any better than Trent, but at least he would show some effort...something Trent refused to do.
  23. Of course. Except when the Bills do it. Then it is a lack of class. What a crock. This is a totally BS argument.
  24. There you go again! And after only one start. Shame on you PTR.
  25. Trent has fooled more than on HC, let's keep that in mind. But I think Chan actually did a fairly responsible job of evaluating the QBs this offseason, even though I wasn't thrilled with his choice of starter. It was clear the offense has been a clusterf#%k for a few years now. Had he only used the past performances to make his evaluation, he'd have done the team a great disservice. In addition, he'd have scrap most of the offensive players as almost nobody looked good in the mess that had been run under Jauron. I think many observers feel Trent hasn't been able to show his talent in Buffalo, due to a very poor offensive line, terrible offensive scheme and really offensive play calling. (See what I did there?) So he gave him the opportunity to show otherwise in camp and the preseason. You know what? Trent looked pretty fair, didn't he? Yes, it was preseason but he looked more polished and experienced than the other two QB candidates. I guarantee you, had Chan let Trent go before the start of the season, many of the same people criticizing him now would have been trashing him then. So Chan let Trent have his chance to shine. Clearly he didn't. He SUCKED as bad as a Bills QB has sucked in quite a long time. He was a pitiful disgrace to the uniform. Rumor has it, the players went to the coach and asked for him to be removed as starter. I notice Tim didn't bother to discuss that aspect of the move. Anyway, despite making him the starter, Chan had the balls to sit him and start Fitz instead. There were some who criticized him for not continuing to start Trent. Do you understand how freaking stupid that is? So, with Trent hiding on the sidelines, Fitz stepped in and performed fairly well. What happened to the impossibly bad offensive line? Clearly the problem wasn't simply the line. TRENT added to the problem of the poor line by looking like a deer in the headlights. Once the game was over, and it was clear Trent was the biggest issue here, why would you want to continue to keep him on the roster? He's toast in Buffalo. The players don't seem to trust him, so why have him around? Chan is here to turn things around. This is how you do it! Now, I understand why someone would question why Chan couldn't make this decision before the season. Ideally he would have. But the insinuation that, after failing to make the ideal decision, it is somehow bad or wrong to correct that decision ASAP is preposterous. And with just a tad of thought and just a moment of giving someone the benefit of the doubt, one might have figured out that Chan gave Trent this last shot as a way to do the right thing by him. Then Trent betrayed the team by playing scared. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
