  1. I completely agree a QB isn't likely to be the main PK holder. Given the new practice time limits, it doesn't make sense. But if BADO is right, and Case has holding experience, then he would make an ideal emergency holder. I'd expect he'll be active on gameday.
  2. Well, if you mean the Bill had a higher grade on Stout than Arazia, you are probably right. But I don't believe the Bills had a 4th round grade on ANY punter. But I'm not sure I'd refer to that as "beaten to the punch". Maybe if Stout had gone late in the 5th?
  3. Ah. Fair enough I guess. Nobody here really knows who did what, for certain , during the dark days. But I'm ok with the label for that draft. 👍
  4. Since Elam was taken by the Billls we will never know
  5. I think you are correct. First, note Beane refers to Haack as an ELITE holder. The idea that holding is so easy anyone can do it may be true, if you aren't concerned about him being excellent. Yes probably most athletes can be OK at it. I don't think that's what this team is looking for. However, given Araiza's apparent commitment to learning, I believe he will be fine and can approach excellent status and perhaps ELITE down the road. But there's always the slight possibility he cannot. IMO that's fair to discuss. Contingencies are always good fodder for discussion
  6. But there is no guarantee another team wouldn't have traded down to get him. It only takes one
  7. My WAG is they want the flexibility depending on the opponent. Maybe they didn't feel they could pull it off at times last year but can this year. However I don't expect any major change in their typical base set.

  9. Me too. I don't get that at all. Wouldn't Crowder be more likely to be cut? I actually don't think either of those guys are going anywhere, though.
  10. Make a lot of sense except for the fact he will likely be inactive for gameday. So won't be avaliable in an emergency
  11. Great Beane interview. I'm not a big McAfee fan, but he did a nice job with BB.
  12. My comment was in response to a remark made about Edmunds, not Poyer.
  13. Agree. Plus do many/any prognosticators have the info the teams get from the players' coaches (college and HS), teammates, etc. That stuff (along with a detailed interview) means so much more than things like Wonderlick scores, which seem to get eo much attention. Thankfully this year, they were much less discussed this year. At least that's my impression
  14. Agree for the most part. Even if Araiza is a great holder, I'm guessing they will train someone to be an emergency holder, just in case. But that guy isn't likely to get many reps in practice
  15. Unless they trade for his replacement he is absolutely VITAL to this team. Nobody on the current roster can really replace him, IMO.
  16. Duh! Thanks. Dunno where my head is at today. Thanks Got it. My bad
  17. Very nice writeup Alpha. But when you talk about Devin, do you mean his brother Dalvin Cook? Or are you referring to someone else?
  18. On point, #2, yes, the Bills are PROBABLY going for it, depending on down, distance, score and other possible variables. 4th and 25, after a couple penalties? Dunno about you, but I'm punting. And obviously you want a punter that can place the ball inside the 10 or 15, at least. I know that is an extreme example, but there are situations where punting at midfield makes sense, no matter how much confidence you have in your offense. And I think Araiza will be fine, as he begins to work on that. So I agree this probably won't change McDermott's strategy much, but I also don't think having a punter that excels in placing it in the "coffin corner" would impact the decision making much, either.
  19. It also has to do with hang time and the ability to consistently place the ball inside the 10. https://billswire.usatoday.com/2022/05/03/2022-nfl-draft-bills-punter-matt-araiza-motivated-after-slide/ With that said, I think the Bills picked a winner here. I love that he likes to hit. I hope he doesn't have to do it much in the NFL but love the mindset.
