  2. TWO Punters were selected in front of Matt. And for what it's worth, Kiper had them ranked in the order they were picked.
  3. Please show me the posts where it says he CAN'T learn to hold and/or is or will be TERRIBLE. You say there are 25 pages of it, and I haven't read a single one. Now I haven't read every post in this thread, so maybe I missed one or two.
  4. Who do you see saying, or even implying, that? I couldn't find one post that concluded he couldn't learn. And since he has never held before, I can't even imagine anyone saying he is horrible at it. You are making this up. The questions have been "what if?", which are perfectly acceptable questions that carry no judgement whatsoever. It's possible, not likely, but possible, he doesn't get it down in time. Biils fans know it's possible since we have experienced it relatively recently. So we are discussing it. That's ALL I see.
  5. Gunner's theory makes sense. But I'm not sure Beane was worried about a specific team taking Elam. I think he was worried about ANY team taking him before their 25th pick---Cowboys and Titans included. Seriously. People get really all involved with a particular players' hype and go all in. Get that guy no matter what it costs. Ridiculous.

  7. Worst way? Well, let's temper that just a bit. Yes, more outside speed would help this offense be even MORE explosive. But let's not pretend the Bills offensive won't be just fine with their current speed. I agree with your overall assessment. But highlight videos don't typically show drops or bad plays.
  8. Fantastic! BTW, what were Kiper and Shay's scores?
  9. This. Perhaps if the guy waa simply money at laying the punt down inside the 5/10 yard line consistently--- well MAYBE you choose to punt from mid field instead of going for 4th and 3. Maybe A BOOMING punter helps flip the field in obvious punting situations By the way, I hear if Araiza's a total bust as a holder, the Bills will become a drop kicking team!
  10. 🤣 Or the equally popular, "I've never heard of him. Reach!"
  11. That seems to be the popular consensus. But as you said, can a team have that many primetime games scheduled to begin the season? I thought the max was 5, but perhaps that's just SNF and MNF? Anyone know for sure?
  12. The Chargers and Chiefs is Amazon Prime's first Thursday night game---but that isn't the opener. Still not sure I'm buying this as the real schedule.
  13. That's what I'm saying. Does Landry seem like that kind of guy? He doesn't to me.
  14. No, you're probably right. He'd be THRILLED being the 3rd WR (as you have him) or 4th option for Josh. Making WAY less than he has been and likely thinks he's worth. No I can't see any issues there.
  15. You are missing the point. Holding is actually a skill and the entire process needs to go the same way every time. So, the long snapper, kicker, punter, etc, work together as a unit. You simply don't have non ST players holding anymore. The job is too important. And I expect, nuanced. Yes, "anyone can hold" but can they do it the same way, every time? With the timing, laces out, etc? I'm shocked by the disrespect these positions get from some here. ST is very important. And there are skills and teamwork that involve practice. And constant improvement. So, maybe teach a deep roster WR/RB to hold? Sure he might be able to get the necessary reps. But they you have one extra ST player on your active roster who normally would be a healthy inactive.
  16. I agree, for the most part. But I won't go so far as to say he'll be cut if he isn't a good holder. For one reason, they kept Bojo for a time despite the fact he wasn't good at holding. And he was inconsistent as a punter. Eventually he was let go. So, perhaps unless he totally sucks, I'm guessing the new Matt gets the job. Both jobs, I should say. But what if he is horrendous at it? I do not expect this. He seems very eager to learn and excel. This is just a little thought exercise. What would they do? I'm thinking, if he really shows his stuff punting this offseason, he's making the team. So maybe they get creative with the holder. I doubt it. But if they do, I highly doubt it will be a QB. And if if he can't figure it out, and isn't killing it with the punting, then what?
  17. So you actually believe the Bills are going to sign Julio or Landry? OK, I guess
  18. I'd be shocked if he didn't make the team. But don't expect a QB to be holding for this team. And remember, there are more available punters than Haack and Arazia. Just saying. And the Bills have already ditched a better punter than they kept. One of the reasons was likely his inability to be consistent with his holds.
  19. That's why they are BACKUPS. They don't get to practice all day, every day, with the LS and the PK. Count on this, if Arazia can't learn to hold to a satisfactory degree, they will use another PS player, or he will be gone. You don't mess with the FG game on this team. IMO of course Think about this, as bad as Bojo was at holding, he was always the holder. NEVER the backup QB, for the Bills.
  20. Keenum needs to work with the offense in practice. They need a dedicated holder, from the ST squad, IMO.
