Democracy’s Fiery Ordeal: The War in Ukraine 🇺🇦
ALF replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Would be against NATO , conventional no , if Putin loses his mind then nuclear would be his option. I doubt if Russian military would allow "mutual assured destruction, principle of deterrence founded on the notion that a nuclear attack by one superpower would be met with an overwhelming nuclear counterattack such that both the attacker and the defender would be annihilated." -

Ukraine will not use US missile systems against Russian targets, says Blinken U.S. officials agreed to send the HIMARS only after their Ukrainian counterparts promised that the weapons would not be used against forces inside Russia, even if Putin was using weapons inside Russia to fire at them. https://www.defenseone.com/policy/2022/06/latest-ukraine-arms-package-includes-himars-mi-17s-and-thousands-artillery-rounds/367620/ The transfer of four M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, commonly known as HIMARS, to Ukraine will come soon, and will require about three additional weeks to train Ukrainian forces to use them, said Colin Kahl, the undersecretary of defense for policy. The weapons, deployed by the U.S. military to target militants during wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, will allow Ukrainian forces to rapidly and precisely launch multiple rockets at Russian artillery and forces. The satellite-guided weapons, launched from the back of a truck, will be the most advanced arms provided to Ukraine by the Biden administration since Russia’s Feb. 24 invasion. Ukrainian officials had been requesting them for about two months without approval, prompting frustration in both Kyiv and Washington. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/06/01/himars-rockets-longrange-ukraine-biden/ -

The Oil Industry’s Downstream Nightmare Is Here To Stay Jun 01, 2022 There appears to be no end in sight for the current fuel supply crisis, with summer demand set to spike while refineries run at an unsustainable rate. While refineries have the ability to bring more capacity online, investors are unwilling to get involved in long-term oil and gas projects. U.S. fuel exports have hit record highs and the banning of Russian oil imports by the European Union will only add to demand. "It's hard to see that refinery utilization can increase much," Gary Simmons, chief commercial officer of Valero, told Reuters. "We've been at this 93% utilization; generally, you can't sustain it for long periods of time." Interestingly enough, despite the imbalance in supply and demand, which has pushed the crack spreads to the highest in years, refiners do not seem to be planning new capacity additions. The reasons: time and investor sentiment. "Investors do not want to see companies pouring money into organic oil and gas growth," Jason Gabelman, director at Cowen, told Marketplace last month. In addition to this, building a new refinery is a lengthy and expensive endeavor that few refiners appear to believe is justified despite the record crack spreads. Also, investors have become more impatient and don't want to wait for returns from projects such as new refineries. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/The-Oil-Industrys-Downstream-Nightmare-Is-Here-To-Stay.html -

Jamie Dimon warns of an economic 'hurricane' coming: 'Brace yourself' JPMorgan CEO: 'Brace yourself' for coming economic trouble "I said there were storm clouds. But I'm going to change it. It’s a hurricane," he said during a conference hosted by AllianceBernstein Holdings. "Right now it’s kind of sunny, things are doing fine, everyone thinks the Fed can handle it. That hurricane is right out there down the road coming our way. We don’t know if it’s a minor one or Superstorm Sandy. You better brace yourself." There are two main issues that Dimon said are worrying him: The Federal Reserve moving to unwind its $8.9 trillion balance sheet, deploying a less-known tool known as quantitative tightening that will further tighten credit for U.S. households as officials try to tame red-hot inflation. The rundown of the Fed's portfolio is poised to begin on Wednesday at an initial combined monthly pace of $47.5 billion. The Fed will increase the runoff rate to $95 billion by September, putting the central bank on track to reduce its balance sheet by about $3 trillion over the next three years. "We’ve never had QT like this, so you’re looking at something you could be writing history books on for 50 years," Dimon said. https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/jamie-dimon-warns-economic-hurricane-fed-races-cool-inflation

In 2019, there were 6,261 Veteran suicide deaths, 399 fewer than in 2018. Adjusting for age- and sex-differences, the rate among Veterans in 2019 was 52.3% higher than for non-Veteran US adults. The rate difference between Veterans and the non-Veteran U.S. population was highest in 2017 at 66.3%. https://blogs.va.gov/VAntage/94358/2021-national-veteran-suicide-prevention-annual-report-shows-decrease-in-veteran-suicides/ This country is in desperate need of mental health counseling for all reasons. Florida Democrats sense opportunity against DeSantis over soaring housing costs Up and down the ballot, Democratic candidates have shifted their campaigns to focus on the soaring housing costs that are eating into the savings of retirees and workers and leaving poorer Floridians with fewer places to go. While inflation has put President Joe Biden's party on defense in most of the country, Florida Democrats are on offense, drawing attention to historic rent hikes and blaming more than two decades of state Republican leadership. When DeSantis took office in 2019, Florida had the highest rate of cost-burdened households in the country, meaning they spent more than 30% of their income on housing expenses, according to a report by the online marketplace Apartment List. The Miami metropolitan area, where the median rent for a one-bedroom unit is now about $2,600 a month, saw the highest year-over-year overall rent increases in the country, according to a recent report by the real estate website Realtor.com surveying the 50 largest metro areas in the US. The Orlando and Tampa markets ranked second and third on the list, and Jacksonville also cracked the top 10. https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/31/politics/florida-affordable-housing-ron-desantis-democrats/index.html Maybe if they eliminate state income tax they could afford rent , oh wait no state income tax in Florida. Florida should not have locked down during covid , oh wait did not.

I hope US energy companies are not exporting cheaper oil for more profit and importing more expensive oil. There must be a explanation I just have not found it yet. The US also exports Liquified natural gas . NYSEG just requested a 22% rate increase for NY. -

Voters elect politicians who vote a certain way on this and other issues. I would like to see a National referendum for major issues on election day although that's not how our system of government works. Polls can be manipulated . -

The United States was a total petroleum net exporter in 2020 and 2021. In 2021, the United States exported about 8.63 million barrels per day (b/d) and imported about 8.47 million b/d of petroleum,1 making the United States an annual total petroleum net exporter for the second year in a row since at least 1949. Mahomes and Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen will team up to take on Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday at Wynn Las Vegas. The 12-hole, match-play event for charity begins at 5:30 p.m. Central Time on TNT. According to WynnBet Sportsbook, Brady and Rodgers are heavily favored to beat Mahomes and Allen. This is hardly a surprise considering that Rodgers has the best handicap of any player in this group by far. While Brady's handicap ranks slightly lower than that of Mahomes, they are still ranked closely together while Allen lags behind the field. Player Handicap Aaron Rodgers 4.6 Patrick Mahomes 7.7 Tom Brady 8.1 Josh Allen 9.0

Way too late , 393 million known guns in civilian US circulation. The barn doors not only open they are blown off the hinges. Now we have 3D print ghost guns out there. Illegal now stop and frisk using profiling. Opinion: New Law Will End Deadly ‘Flea Markets for Firearms’ at California Fairgrounds July 10, 2021 Gun shows essentially are flea markets for firearms and are a primary mechanism by which unlicensed, unregistered and illegal firearms are trafficked through secondary markets. According to research by leading policy organizations, gun shows often create the opportunity to circumvent gun safety laws and are a common venue for “straw purchases” and illegal gun transfers. Gun shows also are a major conduit for the sale of ghost guns — gun precursor parts designed to be assembled into a firearm. When my staff and I recently visited a gun show, the most popular vendors were those selling ghost-gun kits for Glock-like pistols and AR-15-style rifles. https://timesofsandiego.com/opinion/2021/07/10/opinion-new-law-will-end-deadly-flea-markets-for-firearms-at-california-fairgrounds/ -
