Progressing from LL, to HS, to small college, to big college, to NFL is essentially how 99.9% of these guys move up. I did have a very poor crew with a HS playoff game last year. One team from from a predominantly minority school and the other was from a suburban/semi-rural school. After speaking with both coaches a few weeks after the game, players from both sides were telling the coaches that the crew told the minority school that there was no way they were going to beat the other school. The minority school had about 3 times the penalties as the other school and about a half a dozen personal fouls towards the end of the game. The minority school filed a complaint to the state hs association. Crew was investigated, but nothing ever came out of that investigation.

Let me add some feedback here, although a bit dated. My wife worked for a NFL referee (umpire) about 15 years ago. Referees are employed by the NFL for the entire year. They did not meet as a "team" during the week. The league would review the game tape and provide written feedback to each member of the crew for every play. Why did you make this call, why were you not in the correct position, why did you not make this call, that type of thing. The crew met via conference call after the feedback. Crews are graded for every game. Better crews get post season assignments. Higher rated refs from each crew get picked for Super Bowl. With the progression of video, I now would imagine that they get DVDs with this information rather than written form.

I'm surprised that the local leaders are not asking for the material to be put to the curb so that they can pick up and haul away. When I lived in Raleigh during Hurricane Fran, the county came by and picked everything up and hauled it to a hugh open space. There were 3 of the biggest tub grinders working 24/7 grinding all the "waste" down to wood chips. Some company then came and picked up all the chips. I went around and picked up huge sections of oak (white and red) for firewood. Didn't have to buy firewood for about 3 years after that.

Stay dry Bowery. The company that we used to make our printed circuit board assemblies has water (3-4m) in the first floor. Material moved to second. Had people come in boats to move material and some fixtures out of the plant to move to another location so that we don't impact production here in OH.

Question for the troops here. Why are all the sides for Thanksgiving soft or mashed? Do we all lose our teeth for that holiday? I asked for a nice mixed marinated vegetable salad (broccoli, cauliflower, red onion, celery, olives) couple of years ago and people thought that I had just landed from Mars. What about some roasted beets or carrots?
