I use the ignore feature quite liberally (maybe 20-25 board members), and it makes the experience so much better. I deal with enough stupid in my regular day to day that I don't feel the need to invite into what I consider leisure. What I also do, is revisit each ignored member every 6 months or so to see if they've improved their posting habits, with a few exceptions. Those I ignore because I find them to be morally repugnant don't get revisited. Only three members have made that list: LA Dexter, LA Grant, and Exiled.

The President can get the funding from other pieces of the budget tied to national security and emergencies. He's likely going to punish Democratic strongholds like California, by stripping them of Federal funds typically used to combat wild fires, and other things of this nature across the country. The win for the President is that Congress capitulates, and gives their consent to build the wall. Now that it has been approved by Congress, lawsuits rejecting the President's authority to act unilaterally are moot, because he's not acting unilaterally. He's acting with the express consent of Congress. The wall will now be built, without legal resistance. Don't bother. Eric is a genuinely ***** person, only interested in treating people poorly, and bringing the level of discourse into the toilet. He's never been interested in facts. He's a self-serving Federal employee living fat off the back of tax payers. He's part of the problem. My suggestion is to put him on ignore, as I did years ago.

Which is a perfectly reasonable observation, until you realize that it requires striking out for Merced at the exact matching pace, and no one needs to get to Merced either. That part of your argument I don’t disagree with, as I think we’ve discussed before. I believe that many here would make the trek, legal or otherwise, were they unfortunate enough to have been born a few hundred miles south; and I don’t think it’s immoral for a person to travel to seek a better life. However I don’t think the two arguments can be decoupled.

I would be much more accepting of these arguments if we didn’t have such robust social saftey nets. There are no national interests in importing poor people from third work countries who don’t speak fluent English, and aren’t skilled laborers outside of the existing work visa programs.

This isn’t accurate. All nations have an elite financial class; the difference is that in Marxist societies the financial elite are the political elite.

You're misinformed then. Children and adults were separated under both the Bush and Obama Administrations. It was, and is, the law. But even more to the point, do you have any idea how wildly irresponsible a policy like that would be? "Jailing" minors with adults who have committed a crime, and who cannot be positively identified as a parent? Especially in light of what we know about instances of abuse and human trafficking?
