Two different types of receivers as mentioned above me. Moulds game was more similar to Terrell Owens. Where Sammy Watkins looks like he's gonna be the second coming of Julio Jones. Btw Andre Reed is the greatest Bills WR of all time...as of right now
Good points. I remember Moulds as well to have that long stride, and he did have sure hands. He just played on a number of bad Bills teams.
The key to Sammy is how well he picks up his route running in the NFL. He should be very exciting to watch. I'm tempering my feelings on Sammy as it takes time for WR to develop, so he may not light up the field his first year. It could be year 2 where he just turns into an absolute stud.

"if you have to ask what a ZJ is, you probably can't afford it"
That was an awesome clip. I thought I've seen every dumb guys movie, but I guess not.

Fitz is under center, he drops back, reading his progressions, and oh my he's just thrown his third interception to Joe Hayden, the pro bowl CB for the Browns.
Well it's not Fitz's day today with any pass over 15 yards. He's a smart guy with a perfect Wonderlick score, but just can't seem to make those difficult throws.
Ok all kidding aside, he seems to be a nice guy, good family man, but has just been over his head. If he just stayed in that back up role, playing no more than a couple games a year, he would have been fine, and could play for 15 years. Putting him in the starting role again is tough.
What he has going for him is the AFC South is so bad, he should get a couple of wins off of Jax, and TN. Indy's is a coast to the AFC South title.
To be clear, I don't hate Fitz. It was mgmt's fault for picking him as the starting QB. They could have added to the draft. As much as a I liked Buddy over the previous GM's, it's his fault he did not choose a QB in one of his years there. We all know the guys that are starters he could have found.

I like Hughes, but hope he puts on 10 lbs by the beginning of the season.

The whole notion that Whaley is more aggressive to win now that there is new owner coming is drivel invented by the media and repeated ad nauseam. Whaley would still make that Watkins trade if Ralph were alive.
Agreed. This was fabricated by the media which has nothing to write about in the NFL in June. Every GM and Coach knows they have 3 years at the most with just about any owner except for maybe the Rooneys and Maras. They are wise enough to know to be patient with a staff as the revolving door of a coaching staff is a recipe for failure.
Even if we don't make the playoffs, I see enough with Marrone and Whaley, I hope they get more than two more years. If everyone read the stories about Chuck Knoll ( the only head cache with 4 SB), he did not have a solid season until 4-5 years.
We need a winning season this year, and my guess is next year we get back to the playoffs.

Soccer sucks. Amen.
+1
I've tried to watch that game so many times, and it is just boring to me. If you like soccer, great, but no thanks for me.
God I remember when my boys were 4, it was the only sport they could play, and it was like getting my spleen taken out without anesthetic. Thank god they gravitated towards football, then lacrosse.

I really understand what you're saying and this fan base has plenty to learn from past mistakes on judging players. In saying that Graham doesn't do much well and I do understand our offense has been prohibitive, but WR's emerge all over the league in putrid offenses so to me that's really not an excuse. He's a one trick pony (go deep) that doesn't do that often enough to warrant putting up with all he does badly. If the team keeps 6 receivers I don't believe he'll be one of them.
He has real issues catching the ball. Every throw can't be perfect. It's up to the WR to make those catches with difficult throws. Remember the fumble in the Chiefs game. We will be much better off with Sammy, RW, MW, Goodwin, Easley (for ST), and possibly Hogan. At this point, you either have good hands or not.

Mike Williams was a knucklehead at times off the field in Tampa, but was an excellent WR for the Bucs. I've met him a couple of times as a couple of Bucs lived in my neighborhood. He was very gracious and nice to my boys.
He just needed to grow up, but there is a big contract hanging over his head after this year so my guess he will be very motivated to stay in line. His neighbors down here hated him as he would blast his music at night and acted like he was still in college.
By the time the season starts he will most likely be our #1 or at worst #2 WR.

You make a good point. With state funded money, they can use leverage to keep the team in Buffalo for the next 30 years. You actually din't want a 100% privately funded stadium as the owner can move whenever they want.
I'd love to see a 50/50 split with an iron clad agreement. We can then stop worrying about the death march every year with the Bills.

To you Markjaro. Your probably right.
I can tell you taking my boys to the home opener last year with the Patriots was awesome. You just made up my mind. I'm flying up with the boys to the Fish.
Thanks for posting.
Happy Daddy's day all.

I'm still trying to decide whether to take the boys to the Fish home opener or fly up for the Cheatriots.
I'll make this prediction, if the Bills ever make it to the SB, I'll be there. I now can afford it, and will never miss this event. Hopefully it happens before I die.
Go Bills!

He's been given chances in multiple cities. I know I'll forget one or two, but here, Philly, and GB after TN.
He squandered his wealth, and now has to figure out how to be successful in life. I have no issue with him, he just blew it.
Fisher has a lot of patience, but he was sick of his temperamental, and immature nature.

I've read through some of this thread, and I have no intention of offending anyone by using racial epithets. I just don't see Snyder changing the name.
Most Redskins fans I know are not offended by their name. If the majority of tribes are offended, then take Snyder to court for libel. See what happens. This just seems like an opportunity for politically motivated people to say they are offended.
Why at age 46 have I not heard one word by anyone my whole life about how offensive the name Redskins. When they kicked the crap out of us in the SB, I never heard one word of how offensive is the name,
Again, i am not favor of words like N etc. I think it's silly when people of a particular race then use that same offensive word to friends, but it's their choice. Just like it's my choice not to ever use words like that with others and not allow my children to do the same.
Lastly, I'll restate a private owner with a team name for half a century will not change unless forced by the courts which I doubt, or if he loses tickets and other sales. If everyone in DC really wants the name changed, then don't go to the games. That's how fans can communicate their feelings.

Has everyone forgotten FITZ can't make an accurate throw over 15 yards so they stack the box. I like the guy as a person, but he's nothing more than a decent back up.
Andre Johnson is getting older and slower, and is now holding out to go somewhere else. There is no way they come out ok, but Clowney could be a good pick. I'm still surprised in a 3-4 why they pick him unless they really feel Mack was not up to the hype. He would have been perfect in a 3-4.

I could see picking up Nassib cheap if cut, and dumping Tuel. I just don't see it in Tuel. Nassib would be third behind Thad and rightfully so, but he does know the offense, and could help EJ and Thad in he should be able to anticipate Hacket's offense.
I really don't care, but I still contend we needed an older QB to help as insurance. They were not wrong with this idea last year, they just picked the wrong guy in "Mr. Glass" in Kolb. It's too bad Orton wants to retire as that is a real back up QB. I still want EJ out there, just a very experienced back up would be the right call.
We have enough money to do it. You know we're going to cut a couple of lineman by the end of camp which will save us money.

We should name the new stadium after Tim Russert.
I know it's a business, and money talks, but if we really can't secure a naming rights company, I would love to have this stadium called something with him. Whether it's a Big Russ and Me, or just Russert Stadium, I'd love it.
I appreciate the thread as I didn't remember this date. I remember the day I came home on a plane from a week with one of my reps, so I didn't know he passed. My wife stayed up, and told me at 10 pm that night. She wasn't even from Buffalo, and we live in FL, but she was crying when I came home. We sat in bed and both cried over his loss. He meant so much to the city. My oldest boy now goes to a Jesuit school as he was so proud of being a Canisius alumni.
I'll never forget three of those four years where he said a prayer on national TV at the end of Meet the Press for our beloved Bills to win the SB. His interviews on NFL Films for those years. I remember him saying "NY, it's NY, Washington, well it's our national capital, and Dallas, they have big oil, etc., but nothing would have meant more to the city of Buffalo than winning one of those SB". I'm paraphrasing, but he was our best fan.
We'll miss you Tim. I know I do every Sunday morning.

Happy Daddy's Day to all.
Hopefully we're raising loyal Bills fans for the next generation.

Happy B-Day Sammy!

I couldn't agree more. Lombardi was a great coach, but the others mentioned above we're just as impactful on the game. The defense was incredible, he made Bradshaw a HOF surrounding him with Lynn Swann, Franco Harris, etc.
Thanks for the memories as a kid Coach. When the Bills were pretty bad in the 70's I was a little boy and rooted for the Steelers. Even back then I couldn't stand the Cowboys. Usually Gil Brandt gets on NFL Radio at some point on Saturday mornings. I look forward to the stories we'll hear this morning.

Well..it is kind of refreshing. For the last 5 months, nearly every football thread turned into an EJ dog-pile... so, somebody starts a thread, ostensibly a review of EJ's rookie season, and it turns into a Stevie Johnson B word-fest..that is so TBD!
As to the original intent of this thread, I won't claim to be an expert...but I too went back and watched every one of EJ Manuels regular season starts. Like everyone I have my concerns, but I think, as a collective, we are a pretty negative lot. I was a little down on the guy too...but after re-watching, I think it is squarely a case where we tend to emphasize the negative and forget the positives. EJ was nowhere near as bad as some people here seem to think. Definitely needs some improvement, but I came away from my review more impressed than I thought I might be, and a lot more optimistic than I was at the end of the 2013 season. I don't know that EJ Manuel will have us forgetting about Jim Kelly any time soon...but I do believe the team can win more games than it loses, with EJ behind center.
Obviously (!!) the biggest area of concern is erratic accuracy. If he can improve at all in this area (and by all accounts he is working his ass off to be a better QB), there is a lot to like about his game.
btw- when reviewing the season, I was struck by how instrumental Stevie was to EJ's early success in the season...
I agree. People are so hard on him as I guess every QB has to come out and perform like Andrew Luck to be considered not a bust. I've said this before, but go look at Brady, and both Mannings, as well as Big Ben in their rookie year. Now I know Ben and Brady won the SB, but not because of them. In both teams, it was their defense.
EJ was interviewed as well as the coaching staff as he had to learn so much last year, and had to think about it, vs. react. He is ahead of where he was last year so I don't care in OTA's if they were a little sloppy. This is where they are supposed to make mistakes. If they are concluding camp, and still making a ton of mistakes, that would concern me.
Go Bills!

It's Snyder's team, and as a private owner, it's within his prerogative whether he wants to change the name. Unless TV lost advertisers, and fans stopped going to games, what does he care about a PC issue. I don't have a strong opinion as I can see both sides. I remember down in Tallahasee there was a PC debate on the Indian coming out before games, the Tomahawk chop, etc.
It was the Seminole tribe that pressured the State Legislature as well as the NCAA to back off. They were proud of their representation. I've heard the argument on the radio from a couple of Indian Chielfs interviewed on NFL Radio (it's been a couple of months) that do not want a name change, because slowly in the US, the Indian influence on culture is going away. They stated they see the names like Redskins, Indians, Chiefs, and so on keeps the Indian footprint on our American culture alive.
The bottom line is I don't see Snyder losing out financially on maintaining the name so he'll wait it out, and it will go away. Just a guess.

I love it. It was so great before every playoff game in 2007:
Thanks for sharing this video. When you don't live in Buffalo, you miss things like this motivational song/video. It sounds like this was produced for the Sabres pre-game I'm guessing. I'm going to get on my sister as she works for the Sabres.
I love the positive attitude for many of the posters on this thread. I get so sick of hearing how bad my Bills are or just ripping on anything they can with our team or city. My answer is always "go be a fan of another team if you don't like ours. It's different halfway through the season and say we were 2-6. I understand that frustration, but we haven't played a game yet.
I'm happy to hear Buffalo is starting to revitalize and reinvent itself. My understanding is there has been quite an infusion of medical research these last several years. I live in Tampa, but my heart will always be from Buffalo. My wife laughs as she sees me get genuinely excited when I meet someone from Buffalo, and we automatically have this kinship where we talk about things unique to Buffalo. She'll say "I don't know anyone from any other city that connects like you Buffalo people". She infers this as a compliment.
Go Bills and Go Buffalo!

I agree just a contract ploy. He wasn't complaining when two years ago when he DK have a pending DUI, he was given a contract with $17 mil guaranteed, and an avg over $5 mil / yr. He has two years left on his deal, and paid in the upper tier for RB's.
If he played out his contract , he would be 30 and feels this is his last shot at another deal. He is a good player, but his nasty style of running usually leads to RB's breaking down by 30. If I were the GM for the Seahawks, I would to placate him convert some of the current deal into more guaranteed money, but not extend him. They'll get him much cheaper after 30. They also drafted his replacement which will be cheaper based on rookie deals, and a line set up for a decent RB to succeed.
Based on the way he communicates or not to the media, he just comes across like a thug. I don't know that for sure, but I don't care for him. Juxtapose him to AP, who is such high character, and a role model for kids.

QB- tough. Still Brady, but the future is Luck.
FB- This position exists?
RB- AP
WR- Calvin Johnson
TE- Gronk
OL- Joe Staley
DE- JJ Watt
DT-Gerald McCoy
OLB- Clay Matthews
ILB- Patrick Willis
CB- Sherman
S- Earl Thomas
KR- Cordarelle Patterson
K- Haushka
P- Shane Lechler
I like your list, but I like what Patrick Petson does more than Sherman, and he plays multiple positions, inside and out. I also would choose Jimmy Graham over Gronk only in that Gronk is injury prone. Graham always seems to be on the field and making plays. Good choices though otherwise Van City.
