  1. I like both. I just sold my home which had a media room with three TV's on the wall. I always enjoyed having the Bills on the big screen, the Bucs (i live in Tampa) on the second, and the best game at 1:00 pm on the third. I take them to one to two Bucs games a year, and have just started using my miles to take them to one bills game a year.

It's so much fun. I have never bought season tickets due to the investment not only financially, but the time committment each sunday.

As far as fans, I've been pretty lucky not too much F Bombs, and when a little out of hand, I've bought the guy a beer and asked nicely to tone it down. It's always worked as they see I'm not challenging them, just pointing thme to my kids. most drunks even are somewhat reasonable if you approach the right way.

  2. Good posts. I appreciate all of the links to older articles, etc.

I think we talked this topic to death and now we just have to wait. I believe one of the Buffalo invested owners will come through, but not Trump. I believe he was just getting easy publicity.

Pegula makes the most sense as he can build up his other downtown investments along with negotiating a stadium deal with the state.

  3. I'm really pulling for him. Everyone deserves a second chance. From what I understand most of his problem was he was lazy in studying the playbook, and was nailed for weed a couple of times.

I love the size of our line, but it looks like it's not just size, but these large men seem to have that balance of athleticism. For those in Buffalo, keep Richardson away from the happy meals, and point him towards the salad bar. If he loses 10-15 pounds, he'll be an excellent Guard for us.

He'd still weigh in at 335-340 lbs. That is still mamouth for a OG.

we have a great shot at making the playoffs, and I agree we are looking more and more like the Bengals in their ascent.

  4.

Aside. I am trying to wrap my mind around ESPN total QBR since I'm told it's the "real deal". So I go to the ESPN 2013 all division QBR site and who's #1? Josh McCown. Any rating system that puts Josh McCown above Peyton Manning, and Jay Cutler above Andrew Luck, Tom Brady, and Russell Wilson is a rating system to be treated with caution IMHO.

    Back to your post:

Please recognize that to a certain extent, QB are evaluated by the success of their team. There were a lot of questions published about Rivers and about Flacco, before Flacco won the Superbowl and went cha-ching. Even last year, Flacco faced a lot of criticism. He threw 22 INTs to 19 TD - never a good thing - and had a 59% completion percentage - also never a good thing. Dalton has done very well IMHO but before last year, you could find a lot of stuff on how the Bengals didn't have faith in him as their long term QB solution and regarded him as "limited". There's a list floating around the Interweb that has Alex Smith listed as one of the top 10 QB busts of all time! No jive! Ahead of JaBustus Russell fercripesake!

My point is that football as we all know is a team game, and that QB who are considered in the top half of the NFL generally have pretty good teams around them and pretty good coaching, and before the point where they had these things (or had time to develop) the hometown viewpoint on them was often quite different.

Well McKown threw 13 TD to only 1 INT. what was even more impressive was Nick Foles at 27 TD to only 2 INT.

I agree it is a lot easier to have a good QBR when you have a good team around you. I believe as it's June

  5. Big C, well said. Your back up is supposed to help you split games while in there is the conventional wisdom. Well, he went 2-3, amd took one of the better defenses in the NFL (Cincy), to overtime with absolutely no time to prepare. You have to also credit Hackett for creating a game plan to be competitive.

Thad had less than a week to prepare. Compare that to a guy like Freeman who had 11 days to prep which most thought was not enough time, and he looked horrible in MN.

Thad will be a quality back up, and no I'm not calling for him to start. Who knows? Maybe he could turn into our F. Reich.

  6. Guys- thanks for the feedback. As to Spikes, I want him to be that guy, and he is highly motivated to succeed.

For those at least in their 40's or older, you should remember Talley. He was more of a leader than Bruce and the rest of the gang except for Kelly. He was a phenomenal role model for the team.

He always hAd the most tackles, and would hold both his defensive and offensive players accountable for their efforts. I loved that guy.

I just want to see someone emerge this year as the obvious leader on the team. It could be EJ, Fred, Kyle, and so on. No more accepting 6-10. We've heard a lot on how talented we are now. Well, it's time to put it together.

I appreciate the feedback, and am not criticizing the team. I just want to see more. I hope they p,ay for Kelly as much as themselves. He deserves that as our best player in 50 years.

  7. I just read the article from Jerry Sullivan this morning on Kelly's speech to the team, and the competitive spirit in the old days. His point was simply playing for something more than themselves. He's right objectively that this team has accepted 6-10 for three years straight.

I really love a few players on this team as leaders like Eric Wood, Kyle Williams, and Fredex, but do we have a Talley now? He's my all time favorite Bill as he was such a leader on this team back in the day. He never took a play off ever.

I wish they could put a patch on everyone's jersey "Kelly Tough". I think even Goodell would possibly allow that as he doesn't want to look like he is opposing fighting cancer from one of the greats in the game.

So my question to all of you is not who is a good leader, but who is or can be our Talley of this group? Anyway, it's June and all of us have almost nothing to talk about for a month or so outside of who gets arrested for being a knucklehead.

  8. Tuel has more pocket awareness and better accuracy than EJ IMO.

In addition to single handedly losing the Cleveland game, he repeated with the KC game. Juxtapose him with Thad who comes in with almost no prep and he keeps us in the cincy game where we go to overtime. I really love thad in a back up. That doesn't mean i want him as our starting QB, but a very dependable back up.

I just wish we would have found an older very reliable QB as a third. Tuel needs to go to PS.

  9. They did give Spiller the ball plenty of times.

The problem is that they were having him run up the middle a lot.

Exactly. He played his best ball the year before when he ran off tackle. Fred made us the tough yards last year. They were both hurt at different times last year which is why we picked up two more backs so there is no drop off in the running game. I certainly want CJ to play well this year.

  10. Arizona should be higher, even if the AFC is weaker. Cards beat the Seahawks in seattle last year when it seemed impossible. Arizona might be the third best team in that conference. I put them ahead of the saints and packers honestly.

The Cardinals would have been the scariest team in the playoffs last year if they made it. What they did to Seattle in Seattle giving Russel his first home loss in two years was fantastic. It happened at the end of the season when Seattle and SF were competing for the #1 seed so they had something to play for. They are a lot better than they get credit and Arians should have made coach of the year again back to back. Look what happened to Pittsburgh after he was let go as OC. They regressed to two 8-8 seasons. Then he goes to Indy and resurects that team as Pagano is out. Then he takes a 5-11 team with no t that many additions, and turns them in the toughest division in football to 10-6. his offense was figuring out their scheme in the beginning of the year. They will beat the SF and Seattle I'm betting once each.

I'm in the NFC South Conference in Tampa, so I follow the saints closely, and they had some losses on defense. We'll see. It's all speculation at this point. BTW- to the original poster, I liked a large percentage of your picks. Just giving my two cents on two of the 32. nice job.

  11. The fun part of this thread is it should remind everyone we are more talented and have more depth than in year's past.

I'm not commenting on all of these bubble guys although several people made good comments. Just simply we should have if coached well a better team again this year than the last.

    Go Bills!

  12.

While I appreciate the vote of confidence, my Administrative Assistant requests that you please stop. Our medical plan doesn't offer unlimited grief counseling.

    That was funny.

Seriously, I feel relatively confident for this reason. CA will not pony up money for a stadium, and Stan Cronkey is wealthy enough with that land, that he could beat a Bills owner to a team in LA. I know this thread is about Bon Jovi, but the same issue applies. Canada will not pony up money for a stadium, so an owner has to buy the team, keep it in Buffalo for several years, then fund his own stadium, transfer fee, cost of the Bills, etc.

I don't see the Rogers group finding it a profitable venture to expend a total of 2.5 to 2.7 Bil for a return of 30-40 mil / yr.

It's just so much more likely one of the potential bidders that will keep it in Buffalo, and get subsidized by probably half the cost of a stadium. Everyone wins.

Personally, I'd much rather see a major expansion in the NFL with teams coming in LA, Mexico City, Toronto, and Europe for a couple of team over the next decade. It's funny as Germans were more avid NFL fans with the Europe league more than London. Everyone's happy. No city gets screwed as Buffalo, St. Louis, Jax, and so on.

  13. Jake Steinberg@Steiny31 10m

Bizarre that Pettine feels the need to throw Rex under the bus. He might've still been a video operations assistant had it not been for Rex.

I was thinking the same thing. Rex gave him his shot. What is his motivation to throw him under the bus, or a couple of shots at Belicheck, and of course our dimwitted Bills.

I really don't care, just it shows a lack in judgment. Do you ever see Belicheck, Mike McCarthy, Fisher, and so on giving out that info. I could keep going. Andy Reid, Tony Dungy in the past, etc.

  14. My opinion is that our stellar defense is only going to make our offense that much better. They may suck now but would you rather be practicing against a JV defense or someone who is going to challenge you to play your best in practice? I would say they'll get better because we have a great D. It'll also prepare them better for when the game does become full speed and contact is allowed.

All the offense needs to do for us to win is not turn the ball over and play moderately well not exceptional.

Agreed. It will take time for the offense to gel. Defense gets to react, although by changing back there will be some growing pains there as well. Hopefully by the end of august, the offense will be a machine and show real polish. I love that we are in the Hall of Fame game, and I believe that not only gives us a 5th pre-season game, but also an additional week of practice by league rules. This should be more than enough time to get to 53, and have momentum going into the regular season.

  15. No one is saying the team has been strong against the run. I'm saying you are misallocating blame on one player simply because he's been on the team during that time. Linebackers have been the biggest problem in our run equation. Please rattle off the list of our linebackers since Fletcher and Spikes left and tell me how many of them were even mediocre NFL football players. Complete garbage for the most part. Even last year with some improvement, Kiko was not a run stuffing MLB. He's a Will by nature, and that's where he will excel. Spikes and Rivers back there now with Kiko? I'm not going to start counting chickens, but we may have something here.

The blame on Kyle is misplaced and not borne of fact. I understand how it looks to the casual fan, but from someone who played the game at a higher level recently, and someone who is in agreement with the majority of football people who grade player performance, we are in agreement that Kyle Williams is an excellent defensive tackle.

Well put we've had problems with our LB crew for years. I love Kiko, but he was pushed around by the end of the year as he is much better suited for the Will. This is why we brought in so many LB's this year in the draft and free agency. Kyle should really shine this year as he likes to penetrate, and collapse the interior of the pocket.

  16. We complain if we don't make these sorts of lists "NO RESPECT!!!!!!1!!!"

We complain if we do make these lists "OVERRATED!!!!!!!1!!!"

    No winning with this crowd.

    D-ton

Thank you. That was exactly what I was thinking. I've listened to so many posts how we get no respect, no one sees our good players b/c it's the Bills, etc. then when we actually have a few players on the list ( I may have missed, but saw Kiko, Dareus, no one else yet) and we complain he is overrated. KW has been fantastic for this team for years surrounded until lately with less talent.

I'm sure Super Mario will make it, but Byrd should be there. I also believe Glenn deserves a nod, but he won't get it as it is a popularity contest amongst the players.

He allowed 1.5 sacks in 16 games and did not miss a game. Did Peters do that.
