  1. The suspensions start April 1st, at least Payton’s does. I’m guessing that it’s just like when a player gets suspended…they are not allowed at team facilities until the suspension is over. That means he’s not involved with the draft, any kind of game planning, etc. I wonder if there are any players that suffered major/career altering injuries while playing the Saints? If so, there may be some lawsuits coming at them too.
  2. On this thought, let's bust out the old "00". Has anyone wore that # since Jim Otto?
  3. If Kelsay is still on the roster, I expect he'll wear #90 but it appears no decision has been made. http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/buffalo_bills_unsure_on_jersey_number_for_mario_williams/10337515 BTW, for what its worth, I believe Mario wore #9 in college and #82 in high school.
  4. Spencer Johnson had a great preseason last year when he was playing on the d-line. Once we moved him to LB, he was terrible…I still don’t understand how any coach thought that was a good idea. Keep him and he’s probably our 3rd DT. Florence should be better with an actual pass rush, as should the rest of our DBs. I agree he’s not great but is decent enough until someone else steps up to replace him. I would try and trade Dwan Edwards, there’s got to be some 3-4 team that would give up a mid to late round pick for him. He played hard a fairly well. Based on the roster as it is now, we need to hang onto Kelsay for at least 1 more year. I don’t want to cut him, have Merriman and another lineman go down and then have no one to replace them. We need quality depth on the d-line so we can keep a solid rotation going and make sure Mario, Marcel & Kyle are fresh near the end of the game. I really hope this is the year Carrington & Troup break out. Cut George Wilson?!?!?!? Puff-puff-give my friend!
  5. Totally agree. I expect some of our DBs to have monster years too since the opposing QB won’t be able to stand back there all day long to wait for someone to get open. I wonder if Mario teach Leodis some ball skills?
  6. That's what people said about Christian Ponder last year and he ended up going #12 overall. How many mock drafts had the Bills taking him in the 2nd round? Teams are so desperate for a franchise QB that they're willing to reach. Don’t be shocked if it happens again this year.
  7. That makes sense…thanks for clarifying. The part I missed was that the uncapped year was actually the last year of the CBA. Which makes sense now that I think back to the cause of the lockout last year.
  8. Correct me if I’m wrong but the author of that Deadspin article seems to be missing the point that the league closed those loopholes when the CBA expired in 2010 by specifically warning the teams not to do what the Cowgirls and Skins did. It’s not like the league came back after it happened and said you can’t do that, they warned them of repercussions beforehand. There was no CBA at the time so the argument that they broke no rules of the old or new CBA is worthless. Now whether or not the league truly had the right to dictate how teams structured contracts or payed their players in that uncapped year is a different story. I guess the NFL can do whatever it wants to in that respect. Either way, I like the fact that 2 of the teams I hate the most are being nailed!!
  9. A few weeks ago I would have completely agreed with you but Buddy has already broken away from the “Bills way” by resigning some of our own players before the start of FA. Hopefully the trend continues!!
  10. The only way I can see the Bills getting him is to wait for the Colts to cut him and then get him as a FA. He makes way too much money for us to trade for him and IMO, he won’t agree to restructure his current deal to come to Buffalo. I can only see him doing that to go to a team ready to contend right now like ATL or SF.
  11. Back to the original topic…Mario Williams would probably only cost a little more than Freeney and is still in his prime so if we’re going to use up a big chunk, if not all of our cap space on a pass rusher, I think it makes more sense to go after him and pass on Freeney.
  12. This is an intriguing option; I wonder what the Colts would want for him? I think Fitz would greatly benefit from having a TE threats in addition to Chandler. Clark would fit nicely into the spread offense Chan likes to run. He’s probably better than any 4th WR we currently have on the team. Plus he would provide more of a blocking threat for when we do run from the spread, which is quite often. Fitz needs some big bodies to work the middle of the field since he doesn’t have the arm to get the ball down the field. One way or another, we need more receiving threats to take some coverage away from SJ13.
  13. Maybe as a situational pass rusher signed to an incentive laden contract. His game is based on speed and he’s 32 years old now so I’ve got to imagine he’s starting to slow down. Plus, he sucks against the run.
  14. Keep in mind that while running the K-Gun, we jumped up on a lot teams so quickly that we basically took our foot off the gas and ran the clock. Kelly was also great at spreading the ball around. A combination of those 2 things kept Reed from having back to back 1000 yard seasons...and possibly from already being in the HOF (which is an absolute travesty). I do agree that SJ13 is a #1 WR. He may not be elite like Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitz, but few are. Is there a DB in the league that can cover him 1 on 1 and shut him down? Revis, who is arguably the best CB in the NFL, couldn't do it. Just imagine if we get some better receiving threats around him.
  15. If we are going to do that Buddy better hurry. Deadline to franchise a player is today at 4 EST. He better not though. Bell's a decent player but in no way is he worth that much.
  16. I think he'd be worth a camp invite to compete for the #4 WR simply because of his speed. If we can re-sign SJ13 AND one of the other FA receivers...I'm intrigued by Meachem's combo of size & speed....have Nelson as the #3 then let Evans, D. Jones, Easly and a later round draft pick fight for the #4, 5 & possibly 6, we'd have a decent group. That Aiken kid showed a little promise in the preseason last year too. I do think we need to carry 6 WRs as well since Chan likes to run so many 4 wide sets. CJ is not a WR. I'm not ready to count on a rookie WR to come in and make an impact unless we can somehow get Blackmon and I think I have a better chance at winning the mega millions than the Bills do of landing him. Maybe Stevie can teach Lee how to run another route besides the go route.
