Taylor 12th in Total QBR through week 14...
Peter replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it a coincidence that Tyrod Taylor and Tim Tebow's initials are TT? Hmmm. Both very likeable guys. Both have their limitations when it comes to throwing the ball. -
Scathing Review of Doug Whaley - Buffalo News
Peter replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is an example of a broken clock being correct twice a day. In this instance, Sullen is partially correct, but his motivation is BS. He is correct that Rex has shown a lot of class and dignity. He is correct that ownership should have squelched this story - in fact, it should have done so within minutes of La Canfora's hit piece. He is correct that Rex should not have been allowed to twist in the wind while others seem to be hiding. On the other hand, I think that Sullen is making these points mostly as a result of his overarching animosity toward the Pegulas (which he gives away in the article). He and his buddy Bucky really like to grind their axes with them. Regarding Whaley, I can understand why he has no interest in accepting an interview request with Sullen etc. when they already have made up their minds and drafted (in their minds) their articles criticizing him. That is not to say that Whaley is beyond criticism. Moreover, if any of these reports are true and if they are coming from him or people under him, he has to go. I do not like a GM or others under him trying to anonymously throw the head coach under the bus - at any time and especially when it happened. -
Just Moved From Boston - Explain This To Me!
Peter replied to Flip Johnson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was kind of like the old saying about not being able to stop Michael Jordan etc. . . . . I personally thought (and think) that Bill came up with a great game plan (together with Bill Parcells). They played on the fact that Kelly was too stubborn and would want to be a gunslinger rather than be content handing the ball to Thurman. Also, if we had done that, we would have controlled the clock more and our defense would not have been on the field as much. See above. I also agree that those third down conversions did kill us - especially that third and 18 or whatever it was with all of the missed tackles. Nevertheless, keep in mind that offensive and defensive game plans go hand in hand. Both Bills (Belichick and Parcells) did what they had to do to avoid getting 51 points rung up on them. We, on the other hand, were not content running the ball with Thurman because of Kelly's stubbornness (in my opinion). I give a lot of credit to Bill B for coming up with something that helped the Giants win that game against a Bills team that I thought had a lot more talent. . . . and it would have been GREAT if we had, in fact, tried to control time of possession by running the freaking ball rather than Kelly stubbornly not taking what the defense gave him. If you guys are trying to argue that Bill B. is not an excellent defensive mind, we simply are not going to agree. He does more with less and even made Troy Brown (a WR) into an effective CB when they needed someone to fill the void. -

How is that relevant? We were unstoppable going into the Super Bowl. I was at both games. If you do not want to give Bill B credit for knowing how to coach or coach defense, that is up to you. I thought that Belichick came up with a good game plan to do enough to win that game for the Giants and not have 51 points scored against them (or something like that). -
I suspect he may get in as an alternate.
-
While you are at it, another question might be how many times has Lorenzo been selected as pro bowl LB.
-
Silver lining . . . easier to re-sign?
-
Three of five Cowboy offensive lineman. That provides a very nice transition for a rookie QB. I also saw that Jason Peters made it again. Even though Mario is in the defense that he said was made for him, Mario somehow managed to not be voted in . . . .

This place is a bit like sports radio. The people who call into sports radio tend to be the whingers. I had a feeling that the number of people who wanted him fired did not correlate to the number of posts advocating that position. The guys who have taken the lead crusading against Rex seem to post many more posts and start more threads on the subject than those on the other side of the issue.
-
Well done. Both are very deserving.

How many points did that offense score the game before? -
I am going to lunch, but please see my previous posts on this subject.

You should try having a sense of humor.
-
How about one that asks whether to fire your most successful coach in the past 17 years in less than two years even though the teams has suffered an incredible amount of injuries, suspensions, and substandard QB play.
-
You and ScottLaw should get together . . . or do you guys already run into each other at the TBN cafeteria to prepare for the Bucky and Sully show?
-
Stop. People are beginning to see through your crusade and that it not only would be unfair (especially under the circumstances) but also would be self defeating. I think it is funny that the leaders of the Pitchfork crowd storming the Bastille have looked behind them only to realize that there were not as many people following them as they had thought. LOL.
-
Interesting. The other day, I was told I was one of only two people who wanted to keep Rex. These results confirm that the pitchfork crowd does love to overstate things.

Good for you. P.S. I know you are smart enough to have read the words "by way of example" and know what they mean. -

Maybe it is just me, but I have this outlandish theory that teams perform better when their best players are available to play. Go figure. I know it is a novel idea but something tells me that (by way of example) having Aaron Williams as our safety is better than a street free agent. -

Again, why would any in demand coach want to take this job if current ownership did not give the current guy two years even though he has been about as successful as any we have had over the past two years despite the depth of injuries, suspensions, and substandard QB play. Firing Rex under these circumstances is a message to any prospective coach that you are probably better off going elsewhere because you are not going to be given a fair chance, your record is not going to be evaluated in context, and we are going to let people in the personnel department anonymously throw you under the bus. -

. . . and a defensive scheme that does not get players hurt or suspended. Rex is such a fool for allowing so many players to get hurt. -

He is right out in front leading the charge on the Bastille. P.S. I prefer to call him Sullen rather than Sully. -

I think that they have an excellent reputation as people and owners. Murray also was a guy that people had pegged for GM around the league. They hired a Stanley Cup winning coach who certainly was in demand. Anytime you pay $1.4 B for a team, that sends a message. What the Pegulas have done in downtown Buffalo as part of the renaissance including, but not limited to, the hockey complex and Academy of Hockey. Indeed. -
Oui.
