  1. Problems with App Thanks guys. The weird thing is that, if I delete the app and then set it up again, there is no issue the first time I listen. The problem happens when I go back sometime later and try to use the app and, not only does it not work, there is nothing for me to click on. I end up deleting it and downloading it again. It is very frustrating. This also would suggest that it is not a data issue. Alexa: Radio.com v. Tune In I also wonder if I still will be able to listen to WGR on Alexa once they leave Tune In. This is an example of change not being for the best. This is kind of like Directv deciding to change a perfectly fine interface on the TV and making it worse.
  2. I am having a problem with the new app and was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem and may know how to fix it. When I download it initially it works fine. I even signed up with a user name and password. The problem is the next time I try to use the app. I will open it up and there is nothing to click on. Just faint outlines of boxes but no WGR or any other radio station. The only way I can then listen is to delete, download again, and sign in. That is a pain in the butt to do every time and it takes time. Anyone else have this problem? Any way to fix it?
  3. I have to admit that I was the most excited about this NHL draft as I have been about any NHL or NFL draft in memory. I am embarrassed to say how excited I am to see Rasmus Dahlin play for the Sabres. As for Josh Allen, although I was not very excited about that pick, Josh makes it impossible to dislike him. He has embraced Buffalo, and I really hope he succeeds . . . not just because he plays for the Bills, but also because he seems like a great kid. P.S. I hope they give him time to develop and do not start him before he is ready even if that means he does not start a game during the entire 2018 season.
  4. In my opinion, Sully could have written what he wrote without ever leaving the basement of his house. He seemed to write different versions of the same article/column over and over again. The cranky old man act telling the kids to get off his lawn became stale a long time ago. One of the more interesting parts of the story is that TBN offered both Sully and Bucky the opportunity to stay at the paper. The catch: they would actually have to do some work. Instead of continuing to be paid for periodically writing their tired columns over and over again (or those that many here could write), they reportedly would actually have to transition to sports reporters. After having the run of the sports department for so many years, Sully and Bucky chose not to stay at TBN in those roles.
  5. I have no idea what Darby did there, but I will say that I always have had a hard time believing Winston and, in my judgment, the police would have acted much more swiftly and aggressively if JW had not been a member of the team.
  6. True . . . he is hanging out with Super Bowl Champions.
  7. A sampling of Shady quotes: “Losing Richie and Eric, I’d be lying if I told you it didn’t matter.” “Some people might say that to kind of nip it in the bud and get it out of the way, but those guys are great players. Eric is very smart, intelligent, plays hard, he’s a veteran. He’s been in different scenarios and situations, so having that leadership is big. And we don’t have that because he’s gone." “People can say what they want about Richie, but he’s one of the best blockers I’ve played with. He’s aggressive, which we all know, and he’s tough, so I’ll miss him, also. A lot of my best runs were behind him."
  8. That, in a nutshell. was the scouting report on hime coming out of college. I have no problem bringing him along slowly. I have a feeling it would be best for both the Bills and his development long term.
  9. Hint: Sully, Bucky, and Harrington have not broken any stories. Sal telegraphed that the Bills were taking Josh Allen on WGR. Rodak has broken stories. He is local although he works for ESPN. I have not inventoried the stories that Tim and Vic and JW have broken but you (at least) have acknowledged they have broken some. As an aside, the issue really is not local v. national. It is who the people in these organizations think will give them a fair shot. That is why Vic and Tim Graham and JW (and not Sully, Bucky, or Harrington) have access. Sully and Bucky burned whatever bridges they may have had. Jim Kelley never had a problem getting inside information and access (both locally and nationally). He did so with class and was professional. TBN realized (as Sully admitted) that Sully and Bucky were bad for business. That is why Sully, Bucky, and Harrington have no access. We shall see whether Harrington will change his approach and is able to build some relationships.
  10. These are just off the top of my head. The fact is that they DO break stories. They DO have access. The guys you are defending have broken nothing, nil, zilch. P.S. You are not able to count.
  11. By way of example, Tim and JW each broke stories relating to the Bills sale etc. as I recall. Vic was the one that wrote that Rex was likely to get fired if the Bills did not make the playoffs.
  12. Tim Graham has broken stories. Vic has broken stories. JW has as well. Even Rodak has broken stories . . . which makes it all the more embarrassing for Sully, Bucky, and Harrington.
  13. Indeed. Especially on the back end. I do think that they have put together a good back room staff. I also am excited to see Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan for a full year. I think Ramsey has an opportunity to really excel based on what Unai has said. I also am excited to see how Mavropanos develops. I think that he could be great. He had a great game against Man U for his first start. I also was impressed that the atmosphere at Old Trafford was not too much for him even though it was his first start and he is so young. I hope that they do not sell Bellerin. There is nor need to create another hole. I also hope that they re-sign Jack. I still think that he has something to offer and he is still young.
  14. Rex is doing just fine. He is making a lot more money talking about football on ESPN than the peanut gallery of critics. He also does not have to deal with weasels who threw him under the bus. He can say that he had the best winning percentage of any Bills coach in the preceding 17 years and that his last team had a better point differential and relative offensive and defensive rankings than the team did the following year. As you may know, I never wanted Arsene Wenger to leave. I definitely was not part of the WOBs who caused tremendous embarrassment to themselves, but more importantly, Arsenal. Having said that, I am excited about Unai. I like what he has said about making sure that each player works hard and building the team around Ramsey and Aubameyang. I like the fact that he left out the resident diva who never seems to put in a shift when Arsenal is not in possession and curiously seems to miss games with mysterious ailments . . . especially around the festive period and against tough northern teams. The diva has a lot of talent that I hope Unai can harness. If he is not willing to work hard, I have no problem with selling O. He has not played like the highest (or second highest depending on the report) paid player in the EPL should play.
  15. On this, you and I agree 100%. In my view, the guy leaked to undermine the head coach and save his job. He succeeded in deflecting blame to the then head coach but his master plan blew up in his face. The guy was a weasel.
  16. The fact that TBN indeed is hiring and that Sully was told that he was bad for business provides further clarity as to why Sully (and Bucky) are no longer with TBN. I know you did not intend it this way, but this bit of information does not reflect well on Sully or Bucky. I am glad TBN is hiring. They need more guys like Vic and Tim (and Kelley and Felser) and dare I say you . . . rather than guys like Sully and Bucky. I really hope TBN is successful. It was my hometown newspaper, and we subscribed since I can remember. The sports department has a rich tradition that has been tarnished by the Sully, Bucky, and Harrington antics. I also wish Bucky and Sully success in the future. I hate to see anyone lose their jobs. It is somewhat ironic that this would happen to them after they have written so many articles demanding that guys be fired, cut, or drawn and quartered. I hope that this experience will give them perspective and empathy in their future endeavors. As I have said on numerous occasions, Sully actually is a gifted writer when he wants to be. I always reference the articles he wrote about the Buffalo girl who died in the balloon accident or his work regarding the Olympics. More often than not, however, Sully and Bucky (and Harrington) have provided us the written equivalent of that embarrassing year end Sabres press conference a few years ago. I suspect that TBN finally got embarrassed and wondered why it was paying Sully and Bucky to seemingly phone in variations of the same negative and snarky articles/columns that they have been doing for years.
  17. Your reading comprehension apparently is not as good as I would have thought. Apparently, you skipped over the part where I wrote: "I know you will not [tell us how much they were paid]." I also have a very hard time believing that, in your "personal conversations" with Sully/Bucky, the subject of an NDA was among the things you discussed or that you went over clauses relating to non disparagement etc. Which part of my claims are baseless: That I respect you? That you and Vic and Tim are worlds better than these two guys? That Sully and Bucky have a deep personal disdain for the Pegulas? That employment separation agreements typically include a waiver of claims and an NDA or some sort of non disparagement? That Bucky and Harrington were inconsistent in the way that they portrayed the buyouts (Bucky tried to make it sound like it was all his idea)? That no one circles the wagons like Buffalo sports media when one of their own is criticized? That I hope Sully and Bucky gain some perspective from all that has happened and use that perspective if and when they ever have an opportunity to write articles and will not be so quick to incessantly and overly criticize with the maximum amount of snark?
  18. I have no problem with tough questions. That is not the point.
  19. Really? I doubt that. Perhaps you are referring to the part of my earlier post when I wrote: - I always respected you; - It is clear the the Pegulas and the people that work for their teams do as well; - there is a huge difference between you, Vic, and Tim, on the one hand, and Sully, Bucky, and Harrington on the other. As I also wrote, to paraphrase Chris Berman: No one circles the wagons like Buffalo Sports media when one of their own is criticized. I hate to see anyone lose their jobs. After all that has happened, we can only hope for Sully and Bucky's sake that they will gain some perspective and empathy. Maybe, just maybe, they actually will do some self reflection and will not be so quick to incessantly, overly criticize people . . . and with the maximum amount of snark. God bless. Well said. He made his own luck and put himself in the position to be where he is today. Interestingly, so did Sully . . . he put himself in the position that he finds himself in today . . . as did Bucky.
  20. I don't necessarily disagree with your basic point but I suspect (without knowing for sure) that LaFontaine and Bucky and Sully - as part of receiving their payments: 1) waived any claims against their former employers; 2) agreed not to disparage their former employers; 3) to accomplish number 2, an employer also could insist that the former employee not disclose certain things (like the circumstances of the separation or events that occurred etc.) Whatever LaFontaine signed and whatever form it took clearly did not impede him from getting his story out to Bucky.
  21. Whether an NDA is a complete "gag order" depends on the terms of the NDA. As for LaFontaine, it is apparent (to me) from reading Bucky's articles at the time that LaFontaine did not feel burdened by anything he signed.
  22. You have read the agreement? If so, please tell us how much they were paid in their buy outs. I know you will not but I suspect that it was not a lot for someone who worked there for 29 years. Please also explain why Bucky and Harrington could not keep their stories straight. Bucky tweeted that he initiated the buy out: "I requested, received and accepted a buyout from TBN." Harrington, on the other hand, admitted that TBN initiated this: "Voluntary buyouts were offered and people are making personal, life-changing decisions." It is typical in any end of employment pay out for the employer to insist on the waiver of any claims and a non disclosure agreement or at least a non disparagement clause. If TBN did not do so when making these payments, this would surprise me very much . . . and I would wonder what their attorneys' advice was.
  23. I always have respected you. I suspect that the Pegulas and people involved in their teams do as well given that you have been given access. But, let's not kid ourselves, there is a huge difference between what you do and what Sully and Bucky have been doing for the past several years. I am sure that you know that as well. TBN realized that as well. All one has to do is watch that end of year press Sabres conference from a few years ago, read Sully's gratuitous shots at the Pegulas, and Bucky's misogynistic comments about Kim . . . all with the maximum amount of snark to realize that they were all about pushing their own negative narratives. If I were the Pegulas, I would have made the same distinction between guys like you and Vic and Tim, on the one hand, and Bucky, Sully, and Harrington on the other. There is a world of difference. I also suspect that Harrington is going to have to temper his snark if he wants to continue at TBN. As an aside, I remember how Bucky and Sully were so outraged about the non-disclosure agreement Bucky's buddy Pat LaFontaine signed. I wonder if these guys also had to execute non-disclosure agreements to get their buy outs. Hmmm.
