  1. There is a guy named Trent Edwards who is on a pretty bad team.
  2. Elin. It is not even close.
  3. So far, he has been a solid third round pick. Oh wait . . . . Nevermind. I am too lazy to read all of the posts in this thread. Judging from past discussions on Poz, I have a feeling I know what people have posted. He certainly has not justified where we took him. I still hold out hope that he can become a run stuffing linebacker. He seems like he works hard. My problem with him is that he runs around blocks, does not fill gaps, and gets beat when it seems that the RB wants it more than he does. He is still young and likeable. Again, I hold out hope for him.
  4. As I recall, Bledsoe was hurt on a play when he was running up the sideline. He also helped win a game for them in the playoffs that year.
  5. He should be starting. As I have said before, I think he will be good (for us or some other team) once he plays behind a competent NFL line. On the other hand, I do not envy any QB who has to play behind our horrid line.
  6. Words of wisdom.
  7. Yes, I do. I wish that we had the same quality line now.
  8. This from a guy who initially refused to play for the Bills (at least in part) because he thought that the offensive line was not good enough at the time. I loved Kelly as a QB. I hope that he is able to help keep the Bills in Buffalo. Yet, this episode shows that he should not be making personnel decisions.
  9. You are absolutely correct. How are we supposed to know what kind of QB we have behind that offensive line? The Bills "brain trust," TO (part timeGM/coach), and most on this board have thrown Edwards under the bus when our biggest problem is offensive line. Fitz has had to deal with it as well. People seem to want to run Edwards out of town. Whatever happens, happens. Unless and until we get an offensive line (and the young guys develop), it will not make any difference who we have back there. It would be a huge mistake to waste a high pick on a QB when we have a much bigger priority. If they do end up picking a QB with our first round pick, they better upgrade our line in free agency. Otherwise, we are just repeating the same mistake all over again. Just my two cents.
  10. I think that the Pats keep track of this (just in case there might be a fire).
  11. So true. That is one of the major reasons why he has been a disappointment. It is a lot of money for a guy who has not contributed a thing so far in his first year. I really got worried when there were rumors spinning out of the OTA's that he looked bad and not what the Bills had hoped for. He has done nothing to dispel those rumors. On top of that, we are paying the guy a ton of money.
  12. This is probably the first time the word "successful" has been used in the same sentence involving the offensive line. I really hope that he has a full recovery. He is gritty and has some potential.
  13. Right now, he would have been a great later round pick. Let's hope that there is a time when he justifies where we picked him. That time has not arrived yet.
  14. In a related story, OBD is asking everyone at TBD to try out for the offensive line.
  15. Unfortunately, with our line, it is a very, very low bar.
  16. Well said by both of you.
  17. Poz is the one guy whom people are not allowed to critique on this board. He was ok yesterday. I still hope that he will be what we all hoped that he would be when we drafted him. Has he lived up to what people thought he would be? No. Was he worth the pick that we used on him? Not yet. Do I wish that he would fill holes better? Yes. Do I wish that he would wrap up at the goal line? Yes. Can he improve? I hope so.
  18. I think that Trent is a good young QB. I have said that before and do not have time today (preparing for an out-of-town mediation) to rehash all of this. Is he the perfect QB? No. Would it help him if we had a better offensive line (a line that gets worse and more depleted each week)? Yes. Does he have the potential to be a very good QB? Yes. In Buffalo? He probably will not be given the time in Buffalo (which is a shame because I think that there are more glaring priorities on this team). I suspect that Trent is going to get run out of town and people (as many on this board) will blame him for our woes. If that is the case, we are kidding ourselves. Whoever our QB is next year, we better assemble an NFL quality offensive line that is equiped to protect the QB, open holes, grind out yards, and play in Buffalo weather. If we do not do that, we are just going to repeat the same mistake that we have made year after year. It will not make any difference who the QB is. As for TO, I would love to hear what he has to say about his dropped balls and taking plays off. I also noticed that he had alligator arms yesterday on that one play. That was the kind of play that separates a guy like Andre Reed from TO. I was excited and hoping for the best when we signed TO. I defended him. For the most part, he has held himself in check. Yet, the more I watch him, the more I am begining to wonder whether Joanna Krupa (of all people) was right about him. Just my two cents.
  19. Sounds like TO.
  20. I hear that Maybin has a great first step (out of the locker room).
  21. I doubt that Parcells will be hired, but we do have a few things in our favor. 1. We would be the last stop on his AFC East tour (having already worked for the Pats, Jets, and Dolphins). That would be hitting for the cycle. 2. As I understand it, he has a place in Saratoga (or at least spends a lot of time there). I realize that is not exactly next to Buffalo, but he apparently loves the track and the area. 3. He loves to rebuild teams. If he could rebuild the Bills, that would be a great accomplishment after what we have been through. Having said that (to quote Curb Your Enthusiasm), I think that he will stay with the Dolphins unless their new owner gets in his way. The new owner also is supposedly great friends with Carl Peterson and wanted to hire him in some capacity this past year. This apparently pissed off Parcells and there was talk of him leaving months ago.
  22. That is what I was thinking could be the only possibility -- which means the source is not credible.
  23. My question is why would the "Bills source" say what Lenny P reports? Seems odd that someone with knowledge and credibility would tell Lenny P that this is just "wish list courtesy call." Even if true, why would you ever tell Lenny P or anyone else. The whole story is odd.
