  1. If there are leaks . . . who do you think is doing the "leaking"? That is where I would direct my anger.
  2. If they were to decide to let him go for "football reasons," that would be one thing. Where we disagree is his coaching and the circumstances of his record. Notwithstanding all that, he is still about as successful as any coach we have had since Wade. I truly believe that any coach worth anything would look at the Bills job as a bad landing spot if ownership were to fire Rex after just two seasons - especially with what this team has been through the past few years. The leaders on the team want Rex to stay. I think that says a lot more than anything Jason La Canfora or Vic Carucci or others can say. In the end, I would keep Rex for football reasons.
  3. Interesting read. This might explain why some may be trying to deflect "blame." I like Whaley, but if he or people in his department are throwing the head coach under the bus, the person(s) responsible need to be shown the door.
  4. As I have posted before, I want Rex to stay. If the Pegulas decide to fire Rex for "marketing" reasons to placate the pitchfork crowd, I will be both surprised and disappointed in them. I hope the Pegulas listen to guys like Shady and Wood etc. rather than certain guys who post here, work for TBN, and La Canfora.
  5. I also want Rex to continue. Two years is not enough time especially under the circumstances (injuries, suspensions, QB play).
  6. This easily is one of my favorite threads. Well done.
  7. I certainly was hoping for a better record and better defense. I know some don't care (so be it) but this team has been hit with a lot of injuries over the past couple of years (and one key player going on strike). With respect, to ignore the injuries of the past two years (or the MD suspension or SH suspensions for example) and their impact on wins and losses (and performance) is just not being fair. [The injuries were especially pronounced with our WRs and safeties]. The same thing with the QB play. I think Bill B. is a great coach. Nevertheless, I think guys on this board would be made to look pretty darn good if Tom Brady were the QB. I have a different view from a lot of you guys. That's life. In my judgment, when I think that someone is not being treated fairly in the press, on this board, or in life, I speak up. I suppose that is the attorney in me. Oh well. Have fun storming the Bastille. I have to take my 8 year old to a birthday party.
  8. My thoughts: 1) There is no question that Doug Whaley, Russ Brandon, and the Pegulas all wanted Rex. 2) I like Whaley, but if he or people in his department are trying to throw Rex under the bus, they are being foolish. This could very well end up being a situation of be careful what you wish for, it just may come true. 3) I like Rex and want him to continue. 4) Rex has the highest winning percentage of any Buffalo Bills coach since Wade Philips (who also should not have been fired). 5) Rex has only coached the team for less than two years and, even before this year started, guys like Vic C were putting him on the hot seat. 6) Gregg Williams got 48 games; Mularkey had 32 games (and could have had more); Jauron even had 57 games, Chan had 48 games. 7) If you guys with the pitchforks get your way and Rex is fired after just two years, people in the front office (perhaps) backstabbing the coach,1 and with all of the injuries that this team has suffered, the suspensions, and lower tier QB play,2 how is this job going to be perceived by any quality coach? The question answer itself. I have a hard time believing that any quality head coach would want this job given the foregoing. 8) Whatever decision the Pegulas make, I really hope that it is based on what they perceive to be in the best interest of the football team on the field rather than an attempt to placate the pitchfork crowd here and in the media. 9) If the Bills do bring in another HC, it will be another case of rinse and repeat which does not have a great track record since Wade was let go. 10) If the Pegulas decide to keep Rex or let him go, I really hope that it works out. I am tired of one step forward and two steps back etc. I have a 14 and 8 year old - neither one has much if any interest in football and who could blame them. My mood would be a lot better if I did not care about this team as much as I do. It is part of my DNA and always will be. As a kid, I went to the games with my family and it is one of the great memories that I have of being with my Dad (who passed away) and is one of the reasons why I continue to be a Buffalo Bills season ticket holder even though I live in Miami. 11) Go Bills! Just my two cents. Carry on with storming the Bastille. 1 I cannot say that I have any confidence in the reports of Vic Carucci or Jason La Canfora - especially JLCF. I also think that Vic is desperately trying to buttress his discredited report from way back. If my suspicion is correct, it is entirely possible that no one from the front office (Whaley or people under him) are throwing Rex under the bus. If they are, this is dumb given that it is entirely possible that the owners could decide to let all or most of them go as well. 2 I realize that some of you will say that Rex recommended the the Bills sign TT. Indeed, he did. TT was brought in to compete two other QBs whom DW brought in or helped bring in, and he was the best of a mediocre bunch. Rex was playing the cards dealt.
  9. Don Shula re-invented himself when they were lucky enough to draft Dan Marino. No coach (Rex or whoever) is going to be able to re-invent himself or rely on the passing game unless and until we get a very good QB. Unfortunately, they are fewer and farther between in the NFL and are not being developed as such in college. It is sad to say because I like TT as a person very much, but I never thought that I would miss Kyle Orton. Ugh.
  10. I am an ex pat down here in Miami. There is a guy (Barry Jackson) who works for the Miami Herald. He has a column called sports buzz. It is choc full of great information - almost every day. As a Miami Hurricane fan, I make it a point to read each of his columns.
  11. They have burned their bridges with both the Sabres and the Bills. Bucky, Sully, and Mike H. have had an agenda against them, and, as a result, karma is a B word - it appears that they have been frozen out of any inside information. The only guy over there who has any chance of breaking a story is Tim Graham.
  12. "Widespread belief in league circles . . . ." This is BS and not based on sourcing. This is no better than La Canfora or anyone else expressing what they think without having any inside information. It may even be about as accurate as this: Adam SchefterEgiaztatu kontua ‏@AdamSchefter 2014 abe. 31 New York Jets become favorites to land former Bills HC Doug Marrone, who is from the Bronx. Bertxioak 1.070 692 atsegite 18:17 - 2014 abe. 31 283 erantzun 1.070 bertxio 692 atsegin
  13. Jason La Canfora has the track record of a broken clock. "All Signs Pointing to Doug Marrone as Next Jets Coach" http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/all-signs-pointing-to-doug-marrone-as-next-jets-coach/ In my judgment, La Canfora is pushing a story for someone just as he was for Marrone a few years ago. The question ultimately is going to be when CBS is going to do to La Canfora what he says is going to happen to Rex.
  14. Maybe Jerry was simply given a vet day off (as Bills have done in past) and some of you are twisting this to fit your narrative.
  15. Two?!? You must be one of those guys who thinks that those that whinge on sports radio (or here) are a scientific reflection/poll of the fan base. Typically the guys who spend their lives crusading here or on sports radio are the haters and just happen to be the loudest. Sorry, I did not mean to interrupt you from leading the pitchfork brigade. Carry on.
  16. No it was not. The "brush" certainly does not include guys like you or Sal but does include the guys whose MO is to do this and have an agenda/narrative they are pushing. It is not a coincidence that at least one the guys from this PC was one of the guys who was responsible for the cluster f#%k year end Sabres PC from a few years ago. It is who he is (as well as certain of his colleagues). It is like the old joke about the scorpion and the frog. At the end of the day, Rex showed a lot more class and respect than these guys deserve. P.S. I really liked your tweet about La Canfora - "One's music."
  17. It depends on which fans you talk to. This board is divided. I am an out-of-town season ticket holder and I want Rex to CONTINUE as head coach. In any event, I would hope that ownership makes this and every other decision based on what they - rather than the pitchfork crowd - think is in the best interest of the team.
  18. That was tremendously embarrassing but also a reflection of Bucky in general. I always said (to paraphrase): No one circles the wagons like the Buffalo media - in particular the guys at TBN. They also have the thinnest of skins - which is particularly humorous given their snark and hit pieces - just like Bucky did again today. He not only did he attack Rex and Whaley but also went back to the well with his attacks on the Pegulas. Keep in mind, Bucky is still pissed off about LaFontaine.
  19. This is an interesting point. I am not in favor of firing Rex, . . . but, if they decide to do so, any prospective candidates will view the job as an inferior job (not only for giving Rex only two years with a substandard QB, numerous injuries and suspensions) but also because Any worthwhile candidate will know that there is someone in the front office that does not have the head coach's back and threw the current guy under the bus.
  20. Of course, you missed the point about the double standard. To paraphrase you, I now realize that I do not care that you missed it. Carry on.
  21. I noticed something interesting. La Canfora issues his "report" literally moments before kickoff. I can surmise why he did this. I also think that he has had it in for Rex for some time. All of a sudden, seconds after La Canfora issues his hit piece, our esteemed Buffalo media start reporting they have sources telling them the same thing. Odd. Very odd. There is no doubt in my mind that La Canfora was pushing an agenda and these other clowns wanted to join in . . . especially Vic who has been praying that his hit piece from many months ago will miraculously turn out to be "true" (even though Ty Dunne and others - including Terry Pegula denied it back them).
  22. I am amazed by some of the questions these guys ask. These guys are supposed to be sports "experts." If I were in charge of these PCs, I would have at least two cameras. One on the coach or player as is normal. The other on the idiots in the Buffalo press corp so that people can see who is asking these questions and pushing these narratives. As an aside, whenever I watch or listen to Sabres post game interviews, I always notice that most seem to try to ride Paul Hamilton's coat tails. Hamilton seems to be about the only guy in the Buffalo media (outside of the Sabres crew and Robie) that really knows anything about hockey.
  23. Spontaneous combustion . . . like the drummers from Spinal Tap.
