  1. Well you got 2 of the 3 correct there.
  2. I guess the OP doesn't understand the concept of "depth." It's 53 starters or bust with him. Players like Jones, Nelson, and Kelsay will definitely be on the roster next year. I also suspect that Barnett, Scott, and Wilson are not quite as bad as they have been looking so far (the DC is partly to blame). At the very least I think those 3 have value as backups next season.
  3. I know that negativity is the modus operandi on this message board, but it's worth pointing out that the Bills will suddenly become the leading contender for that final Wild Card spot if they beat the Dolphins Thursday, the Colts lose to the Patriots Sunday, and the Bills beat the Colts next Sunday. Assuming that the Patriots, Texans, and Broncos win their respective divisions and the Ravens/Steelers take 2 more spots...that leaves the 6-3 Colts currently with a 2 game lead over the rest of the AFC wild card contenders. The Colts, however, still have to play Houston twice in their final 5 games. Meanwhile, 4 of the final 5 games on the Bills' schedule are at home, and all are against teams that are no better than the Bills in terms of talent. No one else in the AFC (Dolphins, Jets, Bengals, Titans, Chargers, Raiders) sandwiched between the Colts and the Bills in record looks like they can muster a serious challenge for that final wild card spot. My conclusion: still a little too early to be cheering for a high draft pick. At least wait until Friday morning...
  4. The year 2010 called. It wants this post back.
  5. But by Libertarian Party standards, he did extremely well: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/gary-johnson-ran-most-successful-libertarian-campaign-party-193500973--politics.html
  6. Most people stop using that word after they exit adolescence. The only people who continue using it are homophobes and bigots.
  7. I picture that guy who gave Ned Beatty the business in Deliverance.
  8. That would be great for the country. We need at least one of the two major parties to actually represent small government.
  9. Not at all shocking that mathematics and reason prevailed. Equally unsurprising that the argument from a guy who posts incessantly with incoherent, emoticon-laden rants didn't.
  10. A franchise QB drafted in the first round, a new defensive coordinator, linebacker-heavy draft selections, and a true #2 WR in free agency.
  11. A few responses to your thoughts: 1, 5. Dareus and Aaron Williams are head cases right now. It's all mental for them. I would seriously consider benching them for a bit. 2, 7, 11. Perhaps us fans should lay off some of the criticism on our defensive players. Way too many talented players are grossly underperforming for me to think this is a coincidence. I first want to see a defensive coordinator who knows how to put guys in position to succeed before gutting the roster again. Wannstedt is stuck in the early 90's. 3. Spiller can and should be carrying this offense. He may be smallish for an NFL back, but he's built very compact and can take a pounding. 25 touches a game minimum. This game he was given 11. Unacceptable. 4. Stick a fork in the Wildcat and spend practices working on something more innovative. I'd like to see more plays involving Fred and CJ on the field at the same time. TJ Graham too. 9. I hate living in the past. Lou Saban, Marv Levy, Harvey Johnson ( ),...none of these worked out the second time around. I'm fine with promoting Whaley to GM and having him hire a promising young head coach prospect. 10. Fitz is a prototypical NFL backup. I'm glad he's on our team, and I hope he takes a pay cut to stay on as a mentor for next year's 1st round pick.
  12. Oops. Looks like I didn't get my wish.... the offense went on to call THREE rushing plays in the entire 2nd half. Final playcall tally: 44 passing attempts, 13 rushing attempts. Yes we Chan? No we Chant.
  13. Offensive playcalling so far has been 2 to 1 in favor of passing. I'd like to see that ratio reversed in the 2nd half. Spiller and Jackson are averaging over 5 yards a carry.
  14. OMG! I had no idea! What sane libertarian would possibly vote for this Stalinist when you have such Randian acolytes as Mitt Romney, Barack Obama, or Jill Stein to choose from?!
  15. What about Green Bay and Pittsburgh? The Bills are doomed to mediocrity (and worse) because of their owner and not because of the city.
  16. Keep in mind that the details of the opt-out conditions will be just as important as the lease length. In all honesty, I have a VERY bad feeling about how this is playing out. If Ralph dies within the next 3 years, the Bills will likely beat out the Rams/Raiders/Chargers in the race to LA. !@#$ing Ralph Wilson....
  17. I fail to see how building a stadium 30 minutes north of downtown Buffalo is going to magically start bringing in hordes of Canadian fans that otherwise wouldn't go to the game.
  18. For some reason, I read the title of this thread as "Tom Arnolds love interest" and was expecting some Roseanne Barr look-a-like. Yet I still clicked. And was pleasantly surprised!
  19. Yeah, !@#$ the cities that sports teams play in! They should just rename teams as: Team A Bills, Team B Patriots, Team C Jets.....Team DD 49ers, Team EE Cardinals, Team FF Seahawks. Then have all the teams play in random stadiums throughout the country each week. Awesome! You are cool, bro!
  20. I think we should forget the retractable roof idea and settle for a plain old dome. This would substantially cut back on overall cost and make this thing more likely to happen. The outdoor purists need to get over it. Fans (especially the casual new ones from Toronto) are more likely to attend November/December games in a dome. And most of the Bills players are from the South anyway. There really is no weather advantage for our guys.
  21. But China will be #1 very soon. If it wasn't for the huge influx of foreign grad students and postdocs, America's science and engineering infrastructure would collapse. There is not enough homegrown talent. Not even close. In my opinion, the uber-religiosity in this country has been getting in the way of growing this talent. Religious stupidity has always been a part of American culture, but we are truly beginning to see the ramifications now that the Soviet specter is gone and the desire to be #1 in science and engineering is gone. The God-fearing nutjobs in this country continue to vote in imbeciles who are damaging America's education system, undermining scientific funding, and creating a general climate of distrust/disdain toward scientists. This goes way beyond wanting global bragging rights. Scientific and technological illiteracy limits our ability to grow the economy and tackle environmental problems.
  22. I'm not a George Soros disciple; I'm a libertarian who will be voting for Gary Johnson in two weeks. I don't post here often because: A. I have a demanding job that requires a lot of personal attention. B. None of you right-wingers here are even remotely interested in listening to an opposing viewpoint. Everything Obama or a liberal says or does is wrong. Everything Romney or a conservative says or does can be justified. There is certainly some truth behind OCinBuffalo's emoticon-laden rants, but my opinion is that it is ridiculous of him to extract yet another example of victim mentality and government reliance from this current event while glossing over the blatant issue at hand: that people are getting to be too !@#$ing stupid about science. And I think the reason why he glosses over this problem is because it would make the Republican "good guys" look bad.
  23. The real issue in the Italy earthquake trial debacle is the scientific illiteracy among the general Italian public. Here in the United States, we have that same problem. These days, the scientific illiterate are found predominantly among religious conservatives. You should be concerned about these idiots at least as much as you are about liberals who embrace the victim mentality.
