  1. I also doubt that Bush and Cheney are even human but...they were still on the ballot.
  2. She probably never slapped you or threw a bagel at you then. But I know what you're trying to say. Liddy Dole might have been a better choice.
  3. That's an excellent point. You can't have it both ways.
  4. Your point being? You wingnuts are claiming that Obama is a terrorist because he associated with a guy formerly associated with the Weatherman. Hayden was not only a politician but as Mr. Fonda rubbed elbows with all sorts of folks. Who, therefore, are also then by your definition terrorists. I didn't make up the silly convoluted logic. You wingnuts did.
  5. I don't hate Palin. I think she is a dangerous idiot. It irritates me that she makes women look bad. It irritates me that men who would condemn the shallowness and ignorance in another man are giving her a pass because she is an attractive woman. I think her nomination is an insult to the American people. And from a global perspective, she's an embarrassment. And I am embarrassed for John McCain's desperation in choosing her.
  6. I am in 100% agreement with you.
  7. hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahhahaha
  8. My husband believes she looks JUST LIKE Peggy Hill. With a like IQ and the attendant over-confidence in her own abilities. By the way, were these same wingnuts upset way back in 1994 when that photo of OJ was touched up to make his mug shot look even blacker? In the interests of fairness and accuracy you know....
  9. Tom Hayden was in Congress. Therefore anyone in Congress at the same time is a terrorist.
  10. I didn't write this letter, but I think it's excellent and articulates what I am hearing from people around me. Link. "Early McCain supporter says straight talk is gone I supported John McCain in 2000 because of his generous spirit, willingness to reach across the aisle to Democrats to get things done and as then the most qualified to react to the various coming world crises, in supporting much needed reforms of the political system and the money driving it, and above all his straight talk and common sense. Then in 2004 I supported him for his calling a halt to the barbs traded between Sen. John Kerry and President Bush over their respective military history, or the lack of it, as well as his criticism on both sides on the race for the White House. However, what we are seeing now is a man who has sold his soul to the devil, so to speak, to get elected. He has become mean-spirited, venal and unfair, has listened to bad advice, has become the very person in the very system he once decried, has become erratic in the positions he is taking especially on the economy, made an extremely poor judgment of Palin for his veep, and has otherwise lost the persona he once was. What is worse is that when he returns to the Senate after losing the election, as seems evident now, he will never again be received in the same spirit of good faith and fair-dealing, as was his hallmark, accorded to him by his fellow senators on both sides of the aisle. As bad as this is, he will undoubtedly be treated by history with ignominy. An American tragedy unfolds."
  11. Come on, say it: more BLACK people? POOR people? HISPANIC people? By the way the voting anomolies in Ohio last election were predominantly for the GOP.
  12. And, the Maverick family wants its name back!
  13. NYT is reporting massive voter roll disenfranchisement in swing states. ACORN is a nonpartisan organization and if you looked you'd find that there are probably "conservative" organizations making donations too. Ironic that a wingnut [moron] is freaking out over a possible "stolen election". I think I'll upgrade "moron" to "dipshirt".
  14. Extremist .... extremely extremist.
  15. I'll check the tape but he used the term "recent". This other thing was quite awhile ago - I was in Dallas still. I think it was after Boeing moved its HQ to Chicago, because they were pretty gleeful down there (Boeing evaluated Dallas and decided to pass). After I got here there was the CEO who was palsing around with the VP or whatever she was.... Now they got a strike going on, where the union's asking for an 11% raise. Good luck with THAT - those jobs are gonna go straight outta Seattle if they don't watch out. Timing is everything and no-one who's watching their savings plummet and is worried about their job has much sympathy.
  16. It's called "staying on message". One deviation from anything that was said previously and we'd have to hear the opponent screaming FLIP FLOP FLIP FLOP FLIP FLOP.
  17. I was asked by a Reagan Republican the other night whether I didn't think Obama was somewhat inexperienced for the job. She doesn't like McCain and I could see she was struggling with how to reconcile herself to the thought of voting for the "opposition". I told her that Obama is a pragmatic man who is smart enough to know where his strengths lie, and man enough to admit his shortcomings and act accordingly. That's the difference between him and GWB and, I guess, McCain. Choosing Joe Biden was not a brilliant political move - there are probably other choices which would have been more politicially expedient. But Biden has a great deal of foreign policy experience, which Obama admittedly lacks. And I think their working styles are complementary - they seem to like each other and have good communications. GWB pals around with Daddy's friends and his cronies, whether qualified or not, and we the people pay the price. I expressed to this woman my confidence that Obama, like any good manager/leader, would seek and tap good people - the best people he could, and that's why I felt good about him. Right now in America, we have no leadership. Fear and intolerance lead us. She started nodding and then said - "yes, I think you are right. As a nurse I recognized in Reagan the early symptoms of Alzheimers, but because he'd pulled together a team of people that had experience in their areas of responsibility, I wasn't worried about the overall competency of the government as the disease progressed." A weak, ignorant and arrogant leader can be used and taken advantage of. A strong, intelligent leader who will listen to opposing points of view, be open to change, and not feel threatened by the strengths of others, is what we need. Do I think Obama has all the answers? Nope. Do I think he's driven to find them, and is smart enough to be creative and intelligent, with an eye toward doing the right thing for the country? Yep.
  18. Ah, and so the irreparable harm they have done to the US as a result of these meetings to do volunteer work for local schools is...precisely - what? After all it's not as if they were involved in a FINANCE AND BANKING scandal. Stuff like THAT doesn't hurt anyone does it? Nope, nothing to see here folks...just like in your retirement funds. Yea, we definitely wouldn't worry about anyone with a KNOWN propensity for cosying up to the Wall Street / Banking crowd being president...and of course we wouldn't care that his campaign manager/top advisory was getting money from the industry up until it became obvious that it didn't look good....KEATING FIVE, ANYONE?! Duh. By the way, for argument's sake, the Weatherman didn't bring down the Twin Towers did they? Come to think of it, perhaps the Twin Towers weren't even built back then. Well, they didn't bring down the Empire State building either. I swear, ever since DCT called you a moron you have been doing your best to live up to it. You might give it a rest - Tom, you emboldened him and NOW look what has happened!!!!!!!
  19. They're afraid it's contagious, is all.
  20. My husband Tivo'd the first one on PBS, non-HD, and it sucked. Next time we'll do MSNBC or one of the networks if we can't watch it live.
  21. Hence I asked the question. Duh. I wasn't living in Seattle then and was only vaguely aware of improper conduct at Boeing. That wasn't the CEO who was messin around with his assistant then, huh?
  22. If someone wipes out Hannity, Colmes would have to come out from under the table and assert himself or, more likely, be out of a job.
  23. I am going to watch this again tonight on Tivo, but McCain made a statement about the tanker that made us sit bolt upright and yell WHAT!? I wonder if anyone else noticed? He was trying to establish those maverick credentials again, 'splaining how in 25+ years in DC his life was devoted to bucking the system. In doing so he made a statement about how he stopped a tanker deal because it was corrupt or evil or something. So...living in Seattle as I do, I am aware that he recently PUSHED to award the contract to EADS (Airbus+Northrop Grumman), when their submission didn't meet the RFP spec. It's been discussed here - Boeing filed a protest and the GSA indeed turned over the award. McCain pushed for EADS. I don't think their response was illegal. The award got overturned by GSA, although McCain continued to support the award. So just how did he stop it? Was he saying that he pushed for the award to go to EADS because Boeing sucked the LAST time they sent out the RFP some years ago? That was then...this is now. All I know is, Boeing workers everywhere are not gonna love him for that statement.
  24. It's probably been at least five minutes since anyone reminded you that you are a moron, so consider it done.
  25. Finally, that tacky Nancy Reagan china will be disposed of as it deserves.
