Let the mudslinging begin!

Sounds like Vintage Drudge. You know how many criminals have probably visited the White House over the years? Shoot, GHWBush had his old friend Bandar "bush" bin Laden there...I betcha if it had been a Dem you'd have drenched your drawers. Anyone want to list all the Republicans under indictment...being investigated...gone to jail? Puhlease. Find another straw to cling to. -
I felt badly for Talley too! He was one of my favorites. It was hard to pick, but I always loved Leonard Smith, Nate Odomes, and Talley. Bittersweet to watch - but gosh those were the days. Not just in football...it seems like the world has overall gotten a lot colder. I cried at the Tim Russert cameo.

Kurt Warner walks on water (post two)
blzrul replied to RLflutie7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe they don't like him because he answers to a higher power, and he lets people know. Wasn't it his wife's parents (maybe his?) who were killed in a tornado? And I think she was ill? And all this before he got his big NFL break? He's sorta been through the ringer and seems truly grateful for "divine intervention" that lined everything up for him to get his break in the NFL. I fing Kurt Schilling MUCH more irritating than Warner. I remember after The Comeback, they press were clamoring for Frank Reich to say something profound. He first thanked Jesus, his family etc ... and then he said "ok, I'll answer your football questions now". Or maybe it was after the Rams MNF game...but I think it was The Comeback. Whatever. Just don't ram your religion down my throat. Warner's a good QB and the Bills need to take the Lards seriously. -
Now add to that McCain's weaselly voice...he sounds like his teeth are permanently gritted. Perhaps they did that to him in the Hanoi Hilton. You knew he was a POW right? Sorta funny story - went to have nails done yesterday. I haven't been to a salon in years that wasn't run and staffed by Vietnamese, this one no exception. The owner (husband) used to do day trading and he asked my friend and I what we thought of the bailout. (She's a Canadian so we had three different perspectives, but none of us like it.) From there it got to politics. He said that he was torn about who to vote for...he likes Obama but in 1995 he claims (I didn't look it up) that Biden voted against a bill that would have given free, unbridled entry into the US for Vietnamese. He said at least McCain knew how bad it could be in Vietnam... I of course didn't mention McCain's insistence on referring to Vietnamese as "gooks" or his stance on immigration today. It would have been too cruel.

You're harmless and sometimes even make sense. I do block two people. You can probably figure out which ones because I am sure they try to bait me and you'll see I don't respond...not because I can't but because they are miserable, moronic nitwits who I don't care to bother with. -
The official Biden/Palin debate thread

This belongs on the "Biden Bad" thread doesn't it? What does he do at Hobby Lobby? -
Probably because he doesn't want to open a Pandora's box that will make him look even worse. Obama's a very very smart man and he's running his campaign wisely. McCain has nothing to offer and he knows it. That's why all he can do is attack and appeal to people's baser instincts. He knows that appealing to reasonable people isn't going to work. Obama is acting Presidential - sales 101, "assume the sale". McCain is acting desperate. People like winners. Winners inspire confidence.

Oh he's not THAT bad...he's easy to ignore without the need to block. I save blocking for the truly dense. Even SD Jarhead isn't blocked ... just goes to show you how tolerant I am. -
More on the plight of Joe Sixpack
blzrul replied to finknottle's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't think this legislation is going to help in the short run. There are substantive weaknesses that may or may not be addressed but until investors and the populace in general recovers confidence, we're in a pickle. The fact is that the the GOP couldn't sell this to its own party without sweetening the pot. But people overall still believe that this is a bailout of Wall Street - they are believing the McCain-Palin pap that THEY have no blame in this, it's all those nasty [friends of the GOP] banks and Wall Street people who cheated them. Both sides are responsible, although I tend to fault the institutions more because they knew better. Anyway - now that the 90-year old lady in Cleveland got her mortgage forgiven simply by shooting herself (and the poor thing is probably on Medicare or Medicaid) we all know what to do. Next time I can't make my Neiman-Marcus payment, I'm gonna blast away. Small price to pay for buying things I can't afford. [that's sarcasm people - I've never shopped at N-M] -

Window dressing. -
ExACTly! That's not why I don't like her of course ... but it makes her hard to take in large doses. I watched the debate but had to channel surf when it got too grating (I Tivo'd it and watched in smaller increments). It wasn't the kind of debate you could get into. I remember being at the Hyatt (Hilton?) airport hotel at Logan Airport when Lloyd Bentsen nailed Quayle (the Kennedy thing). It was almost like a football game, with people cheering (on both sides) and throwing popcorn at the antagonist when he scored a point. This was just too overall annoying. I haven't seen stats but I bet the initial audience was HUGE ... after 30 minutes I bet it dropped by 40-50%

You're not a moron just when you state facts. You are a card-carrying, full-time professional moron. Sorry, I couldn't resist. You teed it up PERFECTLY. -
Linky up a bit - not my post, above it. "Half-breed Muslin"
-
Gee a racist in Florida? Did you see the moron in central Florida with the "Obama is a half-breed Muslin (sic)" sign in his yard? Because he's mad at what "they" are "doing" to Sarah Palin? Linky in post above...FloriDUH.

Yeah, she said NUKEYOULAR. We have a great commercial out here in WA that takes the GOP gubernatorial candidate and slowly morphs him into Bush. It would cool to see Obama do that with Palin... This doofus is SO desperate to not be GWB that he actually won a lawsuit to have him on the ballot as "GOP Party". Grand Old Party Party? I guess he's counting on people being REALLY stupid and not knowing GOP=Republican.

Ya, I can't figure out that accent. It's like an annoying cross between Minnesotan and backwoods Southern. Weird. She did an ok job. Basically when they train you to debate you get X talking points, and you stick with them. She did. I actually saw a reaction from a dingbat this morning who said Palin did great because, unlike Biden, she talked without using facts and figures. Unfreakinbelievable. So facts are bad? (Note: this lady didn't evaluate truth of said alleged facts, just that it was great how The Wingnut From Wasilla chatted without citing any nasty factual things that might lend her some credibility).

"Roman Catholicism The laity comprises all the faithful who have not received Holy Orders, whether living in religious orders or in the world. In the past, the term lay priest was sometimes used to refer to a secular priest, a diocesan priest who is not a member of a religious order. Paragraph 31 of the dogmatic constitution Lumen Gentium defines the laity as follows: “ The term laity is here understood to mean all the faithful except those in holy orders and those in the state of religious life specially approved by the Church. These faithful are by baptism made one body with Christ and are constituted among the People of God; they are in their own way made sharers in the priestly, prophetical, and kingly functions of Christ; and they carry out for their own part the mission of the whole Christian people in the Church and in the world. So what. The Pope was a Nazi. Lets not even discuss the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, etc. And before everyone freaks, I'm Catholic. When Jesus comes back, as He will, the santimonious fools running the Catholic Church will have cause to regret it. I am not talking about the nuns, priests and lay people who do all the work, I'm talking about those who govern. It's sort of a common thread isn't it? Absolute power....etc.
