So a vicious criminal did a vicious thing. And because he apparently doesn't like McCain, it's Obama's fault? And, naturally, because the perp is black, THAT'S why he doesn't like McCain? (Not because McCain is an ass who panders to the rich and selects a dumbass for a running mate?) Following that convoluted logic then, because John McCain and Adolph Hilter are white guys...they would also "stick together"? Oh, doesn't that sound stupid? Sure does. So how about this: the criminal is a vicious animal. He did a terrible, cowardly thing. He deserves to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

One thing I can't stand is that Obama seems to have brought out all the BIGOTS. You can smell them right through the Internet. Actually, it's not them per se, it's their freaking intolerance and ignorance. Come to think of it, it's not Obama's fault. They were always BIGOTS but now they are scared bigots because Obama's engaged people from all walks of life...even maybe some retired baby boomers ... and when BIGOTS are frightened they come out of their caves and expose themselves. Yuck. Seems a little odd to hammer people who volunteer for something they believe in. That's kind of how America got its start.

Let's just keep attacking each other why don't we then. THAT will solve everything. I review of my post says nothing about turning the other cheek. But common sense, and history, proves that unless you can eradicate every last one of them, they can't be stopped. The harder you press, the more they resist and the more cause you create to hate us and come up with new, inventive ways of killing us. Seems to me we lived in fairly peaceful coexistence with them for a long time. We fought the Commies in Korea. We fought the Commies in Vietnam. And we lost. Eventually their own rotten system gave way and caved in. Probably all those wars they liked so much didn't help either. Maybe they didn't fold up tent on OUR timetable...but fold they did. Maybe we accelerated that a bit...maybe not. There is never one, simple answer. I realize that "kill em all" is very attractive to a certain set of people who have very narrow, simplistic views of the world (usually with themselves at the center). If it were only that simple.

Titling this thread "Hate" was pretty appropriate through most of the posts. Scratch the blind hatred and name calling and there are maybe three posts that actually contribute to the discussion. If it wasn't Muslims, it would be something or someone else. Star-bellied Sneetches perhaps (Dr. Suess anyone?). The point is that the politicians in this country for the past several decades have done an EXCELLENT job of dividing, and conquering. They've convinced most people that the other side is evil. They demonize the other candidate. And people still fall for it. Then they complain about the leadership, or lack thereof. The think the country is going in the wrong direction but...because they're too busy hating each other, they don't do the obvious which is band together and make a stand against it. And that's what hate does. It's such a very effective tool. If America wants it to stop, Americans have to stop falling for it. Now, back to Muslims. Sure let's kill all the extremists - Muslim or otherwise. Christians. Skinheads. Etc etc etc. And guess what? More will rise up to take their place.

I don't watch TV in the morning when I'm home but I was in San Francisco for business and each morning turned on CNN while I was getting ready for work. The answer is YES. They were televising it live. So much for that. Go back to your boat.

And since voting problems in W. Virginia - where touchscreen voting for Obama is supposedly printing off voter receipts indicating the vote was cast for McCain (different thread) - his leading in WVa may be pretty safe. :-)

Speaking of OBL, good news for him. Last night's local news featured an article on a really small, portable home dialysis machine! No longer will he have to race across the desert and the mountains with his generator and dialysis machine piled on the back of camels. Christianne Amanpour says he's actually in a villa ... so perhaps it's not an issue any more running around with his dialysis machine, fearing any day that Bush will smoke him out of his cave...but there will be more room for his treadmill and stuff with the new, smaller footprint.

The key word I think is "undocumented".

So when I pay sales taxes in Seattle and the money goes to build a road for the wingnuts in Spokane, what is that? They don't have enough of a tax base over there to build sufficient roads, adequate schools, etc. The roads are a service to all. The schools are a service to some directly but arguable benefit the country as a whole. So what's THAT?

I always admired Powell and, prior to the war, would have supported him for president, because I believed in his honesty and integrity. He's not a politician - he sucks at it. I think he was deceived and taken advantage of by the Administration, who used him as their "front" knowing how well respected he is. He made a huge error in not realizing that sooner. It's something he will have to live with. I believe him when he said that if it was about race, he'd have spoken before. If you open your ears a bit you will hear many moderate Republicans squirming in agony over the crappy campaign McCain is running. Powell just happens to be one of them.

While I like dogs far better than people, and I am glad this one is getting a good home, it does make a statement that we rescue a dog while women and children get killed and maimed just trying to go about their daily business. And as a taxpayer I do not want the military to pay for dog transportation. I disagree with their embargo though, I think that if the service member can get the animal cleared through a veterinarian and pay for its transport, they should allow it.

But since the GOP controlled the Senate they also had the majority on the committee. And it doesn't say it was killed in committee. Another one of those Grecian-formula-patent-haired Repigs (multi-millionaire too I might add, must be a plumber) refused to let it be heard and voted upon.

You wingnuts are pathetic!! Why can't you just admit that your leader, like you, heard a sound bite that he thought could save his campaign. He leapt...but forgot to look first! Obama didn't ask the media to investigate this guy. McCain could have used a pseudonym, but he didn't. So, it's fair game. McCain's holding him up an example. If this guy was everything McCain said he was...it would have been a great story, and a great coup for him. Guess what, it backfired. Tough shirt. Ronald Reagan used the same schtick ... I woman, as I recall although I don't recall the particulars. Did she get pilloried? If she didn't, either it's because he did his due diligence and she was indeed what he represented her to be....and if the press did annihilate her, the fact that no-one's talking about it now means that this, too, shall pass.

It's afraid it might wake up to find it lives in a "blue" state. Oh the shame.
