I don't think it's fair that only men can be killed and maimed in war. Everyone should serve. Like they do in Israel.

I am just loving all the attention here. It's so much fun to watch wingnuts wallow in their rancid paranoia. And fear. I guess that's a club only the chicken-hearted can join. It seems that to be a wingnut you have to (a) think people are all basically morons and idiots, unless they're close relations or think exactly like you do (b) assume the worst is ALWAYS going to happen, and that when it happens to them it's because of liberals but when it happens to liberals it's because they deserve it. I do think the current economic situation is somewhat terrifying. The fact that I'm not the only one is borne out by the fact that the market's dropped what, 21%+ in the past week? We were lucky in the 1990's that the Asian Crisis didn't impact us too much, but it did certainly take them some time to recover and there were tough times for many. Krugman isn't the only one who's drawing parallels to the Great Depression. We're not there - yet. And I have high hopes we won't get there. But you can pretty much pick up any paper or visit any news site to see the discussion on the similarities. Oh and by the way, the Bush Adminstration has proclaimed more than once that this is a major crisis. A threat. Severe. A big deal. Soo.....it's a problem that perhaps people agree with them? Oh yea - I keep forgetting that wingnuts are also color-blind and can only see in black and white. Hence a person of progressive politics should, according to the wingnut theory, reject EVERYTHING that comes from the "opposition". But because guys like Krugman, who advocates fiscal responsibility (I thought that was a conservative hallmark?) are considered "liberal" (because they oppose the irresponsible spending and fiscal policies of the "conservatives" in power) their body of work is to be spat upon. I guess the © to my what-is-a-wingnut definition means that any theory - or fact - that a common-sense individual might evaulate as truthful, or consider as a possibility, but which issues forth from someone of the "other team", it's immediate dismissed as crap along with the person who dared voice a difference of opinion. Like I said when I posted the link, wingnuts shouldn't read it because of course your heads would explode. And I was right. They did. Hey by the way, my husband follows along quite frequently. We laugh a lot about it over dinner. A lot.
-
Wingnuts need not read since anytime a liberal is recognized for anything, it's because the world is all against the poor, downtrodden, pinheaded wingnuts and not because the body of work has any merit. Krugman's columns often make me nervous as hell but...it seems like he may have been onto something.

John McCain Only Wants To Be President.

Sarah Palin's terrorist pals

Either you're trying to be kind and not embarrass him or you are not recognizing fear when you "see" it. The military provides order and discipline. When you're out, that's gone. You're on your own. Most people don't have a problem with the transition. Many find it a very threatening and frigtening experience. So what may appear to be overconfidence is often the exact opposite. Ever watch Cesar Millan - and see the "insecure dominant" animals he talks about? It holds for people too. -
Kim Jung-Il, officially not a terrorist

Well this is a relief! So as that nuke heads towards Hawaii from Korea, I will know it was just a mis-fire. -
What a dumbass you are - the letter was already published. Nice knee-jerk reaction. Maybe next time you ought to be more thorough.

Alaska is pretty but it sure sounds like a corrupt state. Stevens is on trial (at his age, good gravy) and now this. Seems like it's just a way of life up there. I guess when you're that far away it's more tempting to see what you can get away with ... because often you can. However I am sure all 680,000 Alaskans are not corrupt and it has to be pretty embarrassing for them. Granted, Alaska's a welfare state and all, so I suppose they're probably used to getting picked on, but still a dingy, corrupt Governer and a corrupt Senator shouldn't reflect on those who are honest and hardworking. Whatever happened to those Murkowskis by the way?

Sarah Palin Newsweek Cover

Which is why they were chosen for fighting - pit bulls are so eager to please their owners (pack leaders) that they will literally die at their command. Which is why Michael Vick is SUCH a PIG - taking advantage of such trusting animals. -
I agree. Buckley was not a stupid man, nor was he blinded by partisanship. He might even have made the same endorsement
-
Good thing "celeb" endorsement don't matter, eh?

The use of quotation marks should have indicated that I don't consider him a celeb. Not quite sure what he is. A commentator...a pundit...some guy? Whatever. To many people, anyone famous is considered a celebrity. But I commend you on your very Palinesque reaction, dodging the topic and adding nothing to the discussion, which was not intended to establish what constitutes a celebrity. -
Ha - we both started the same thread. Hey maybe dear old dad would have agreed. Hard to think that but then again the McCain meltdown we've witnessed is frankly something that is surprising many people. So who's to say.
-
Good for McCain, but he and his campaign have created the monster and it's their legacy. It's just too late.

Be afraid! Be very afraid!

Sarah Palin's terrorist pals

I would like to hear Sarah Palin or John McCain condemn the "rage" and screams of "kill him" that are being reported to be taking place at their rallies. That they seem more interested in whipping up their followers into a frenzy of hatred is a little worrisome and reflects poorly on them. Failure to protest could be taken as condoning the violence ... which is a little on the terroristic side I would say. -
I wonder if McCain's aware that in MN, the GOP Senatorial candidate just made a big deal that he is unilaterally pulling his negative campaign ads? Seems that since McCain went negative it pissed everyone off and THIS guy's lost his big lead. Keep it up and Sen. Franken will follow Gov. Ventura as the MN contribution to wacky US politics. Of course that doesn't mean the GOP PACs will pull THEIR negative ads.

I don't recall anyone ever saying the Democratic party was not compassionate. Did anyone say that? I wouldn't know, really, not being a registered Democrat. I'm not sure what wolves have to do with anything - but I would think you wingnuts would welcome wolves so you can shoot them from helicopters, airplanes, Hummers, whatever. If you LIKE to be surrounded by whiners moaning that the end of the world is near because the stock market is tanking, then bully for you. Smart people know that PANIC is a good deal of the problem. And MOST people do NOT like to be surrounded by whiners who bring them down. And if said whiners are that upset and cannot see any hope for the future then by all means they should take themselves off somewhere inflict their moaning upon each other. Those who aren't so easy to give up the ghost will take care of things. "When the going gets tough..." (the wingnuts run away)
-
Actually now that our economy's tankin they're trying to get out...
-
You don't know that any more than I do. Obama is smart enough to know that Americans are sick of the cesspool. He's also smart enough to know that any lead is never enough - the only one that matters is the one that delivers the election. I cannot imagine Hillary being up by 15% against any Republican, even McPalin with his very bad campaign. Of course if Hillary was the nominee then we would probably have been spared the Palin debacle - McCain would have picked Huckabee or some other evangelical poster boy.
-
Well cheese louise...if ever you needed an example of the stupidity of the human race, here it is. What's different here from past bear markets is...the f-ing MEDIA is just having a feeding frenzy! Every time a little sanity returns, you see headlines including the words "Depression", "Panic" "Loss", "Plunge", "Desperation" etc. Morons. Someone sent me an excellent article summaring the last 11 or so bear markets - not as spectacular, for sure, but we always recovered, and we'll recover again. But it really cracks me up that all these big tough "love it or leave it" types are the first ones to crap their pants and run. I think half the people who are panicked have no idea WHY and probably don't have diddly in the market anyway! I'm letting it ride...don't have my $1m anymore, but it'll come back by the time I need it.
-
That's what I love about wingnuts. They're so easily scared and ready to give up. I encourage all of you who haven't bothered to look back on past crises (from which we recovered) and are ready to throw up your hands and give up - to do it! Go on and jump off that ledge! Rid the world of your whining negativity and let the rest of us pick up the pieces and carry on. We are far tougher than you. Oh and take McPalin and Bush with you.

:-) They learned that if you lie, keep lying and lie some more, people will buy it because they'll reason that NO-ONE could be ballsy enough to lie so baldly. That's GOP 101.

I understand and blame the process. It's a sad state of affairs that the media and the voters seem to get caught up in the bull sh-- such as "THEY PUT AN UGLY PHOTO OF OUR CANDIDATE ON THE COVER" to "HE HIDES UNDER YOUR KIDS' BEDS AND BITES THEIR ANKLES IN THE MORNING". Crap. Meanwhile, Rome burns. Good candidates in this country never get a fair shake because they're homely, or they don't speak well, or they don't dignify mudslinging with a response and people therefore believe the lies. Consider what Obama's doing: he's a black man, product of a "broken home", and a Democrat, running for President. The mere fact that he has so far been able to walk such a fine line and manage his campaign without falling into the same cesspool that McCain has? Pretty incredible given that he is on paper a longshot. Anyway, I have a lot more trust and faith in him than McCain.
