  1. No one talks about the guy and how much of an impact he can have on this team. He was a rising star during his first two seasons in the league. He helped the Cardinals win the NFC West on their way to the AFC Championship game in 2015, aiding Carson Palmer to a near-MVP season. Coaches called him a Marvin Harrison clone. Don't take it from me. Ask the guy who drafted him and coached him all four seasons in Arizona, Bruce Arians... A spinal cyst resulted in two injury-plagued seasons with the Cardinals in 2016 and 2017. That combined with poor quarterback play brought his numbers way down. Then he was one of the league leaders in receiving yards about halfway through the 2018 season with the Ravens before they switched to a run-option offense with Lamar Jackson. Could Smoke Brown become Josh Allen's Marvin Harrison?
  2. Amazing. Not to mention Darnold will be a Top 10 QB this season. They're on the verge of a dynasty.
  3. Actual quote from a Jets fan: "I keep reading how we have the best offensive mind in the league at HC, the best DC in the league and the most respected GM in the league. Nine wins should be the absolute basement."
  4. Only Josh Rosen had a worse Adjusted Net Yards per Pass Attempt than Allen (4.37) last year. Anything under 5 in that stat is horrendous and usually results in that quarterback never getting the opportunity to start for an NFL team again. And despite records, Bills weren't any better than the Jets in 2018. Jets' final DVOA was #25. Bills were ranked #28. Hence, those rankings are fair.
  5. Because you're crying about this I would bet my house on you being a white man who attended the straight pride parade over the weekend. There's nothing wrong with what Dawkins said.
  6. I was thinking the same thing, although even Brady isn't an "explosive playmaker". He's just a guy who always makes the right read and puts the ball perfectly in his teammates hands.
  7. Best five linemen regardless of position.
  8. How so? Reading their message boards, there seems to be a lot of optimism.
  9. Same. My concern with Singletary isn't his size but his lack of explosiveness. It's nice that the players and coaches rave about him but I go by what I see.
  10. Talent evaluation loses value when (a) your head coach is the greatest strategic analyst/schemer in football history, and (b) that head coach has the greatest quarterback of all-time at his disposal. I can only think of one NFL team in the history of the league to have those two things at the same time.
  11. Can't blame them. Aside from the last game of his rookie season Allen has shown nothing but terrible passing performances. We think we know better because we're watching him closely and we know how hard he works and how much everyone likes him and how much the staff/organization/team is behind him and how much they invested in pieces around him this offseason. But no one knows for sure that it's going to result in improvement. Until proven otherwise, opposing fans are going to assume that Allen can't consistently manage an NFL game by throwing the ball efficiently.
  12. Some thoughts from Jest fans...
  13. Why do we need anyone for the swing? We have Conor McDermott.
  14. Belichick has never been a good talent evaluator.
  15. Tyron Johnson - Undrafted rookie wide receiver out of Oklahoma State 6-1, 195 Overview Deep ball specialist with ability to take the top off defenses. Johnson's game is geared to get down the field and make explosive catches, but the rest of his skill-set is still very raw. While he can force safeties away from the line of scrimmage, he's not an instinctive route-runner and gives too many clues away to cornerbacks who will swarm his breaks as a pro. He has great deep speed to get into a camp, but shaky hands and modest production may foreshadow and uphill climb. Strengths Put together strong pro day workout according to scouts Took big step up in production in 2018 Has exceptional deep speed Consistent separation on his go routes Speed to eat cushion and race over top of safeties on posts Early to locate and adjust to deep throws Shows ability to make athletic catches down the field Can force teams to shade safeties in his direction Weaknesses Ran very limited route tree Needs more consistent early route drive Below-average route instincts to set up defenders Lazy getting into breaks Waits for throws to get to him rather than driving back Doesn't keep corners stacked on hip to protect catch Contested catches are below average Hands lack strength and drops are a big concern
  16. He's never played in a regular season NFL game. Webb's college story is an interesting one. He was a big-time recruit out of Texas (high school Class of 2013) and originally committed to Texas Tech's then head coach Tommy Tuberville. Tuberville left after the 2012 season and the Red Raiders hired Texas Tech alum and now Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kinsbury. Kingsbury was able to convince Webb to sign with Texas Tech. That summer (2013), Webb lost the starting job battle to a freshman walk-on by the name of Baker Mayfield. When Mayfield went down with an injury, the true freshman Webb stepped in and did so well that he took the starting job from Mayfield. As a result, Mayfield decided to transfer to Oklahoma. Going into the 2014 season, the sophomore Webb was named to many preseason award watch-lists and was a dark horse Heisman candidate. More than halfway through the season, he broke his ankle and a true freshman by the name of Patrick Mahomes replaced him. Mahomes would beat Webb for Texas Tech's starting QB job going into the 2015 season. Webb would serve as Mahomes' backup through that season and would earn his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech in just three years. As a result, he was able to transfer to Cal under coach Sonny Dykes as a grad transfer and be immediately eligible. Webb had a very successful single season at Cal, being an All-American nominee and Davey O'Brien Award semifinalist. He won the Senior Bowl MVP and the Giants chose him in the third round. His NFL hasn't been nearly as interesting. It only took a year with the Giants for them to decide he wasn't good enough and release him. Jets signed him to their practice squad in September of 2018. Spent the entire season with them, being called up to the active roster in November. He's never played a regular season NFL game. Was expected to compete for the Jets' backup job but then Gase signed Trevor Siemian and Luke Falk.
  17. Davis Webb to the practice squad.
  18. "Meh, this Manuel kid seems good enough bye y'all!!!!"
  19. Hmm, maybe. I mean, he was good enough to stick on the 90 man roster. But then again, so was Keith Towbridge. Dodson is not part of the 53-man roster or the practice squad and cannot participate in games, practice, workouts, meetings, etc. Not sure how that qualifies as "still on the team". When he's released from exempt status and the Bills sign him to the team or practice squad, then I'll believe they're invested in him. Until then, I don't see much evidence.
  20. What makes you think they're invested in Dodson?
