Deciphering OBD Code - Two Tidbits to Ponder
Best Player Available replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing personal to Buddy Nix. But, the sooner his exit strategy is finalized. The sooner the Bills can look forward to a new era. One of possible long overdue success. It's stunning that he is still employed today. The only reason that's possible is because of how close the 2013 draft is and his considerable input in it(good or bad). -

What's your thoughts on switching to Sahlens hot dogs at the stadium. Like Thurman is proposing? -

Absolutely. Look at the phenomenal college scouting. And subsequent Bills drafts. Clearly, the Bills are one upping the Steelers. -

What Kelly followers know. His NFL suitors are intrigued by his offensive strategies. He runs to set up the pass. On average he runs a offensive play every 13 seconds. That speed requires an o-line that can play at that speed with NO substitutions, The size of O-lineman that he likes average around 285lbs. The Bills O-line is not a kelly type line. Kelly will want some control over the player decisions. The Bills will not offer a rookie NFL coach this. Kelly for what its worth and I have NO link, but if he goes and the Duck AD thinks he's leaving. He Is intrigued with Cleveland's situation. Possibly because new ownership is seemingly open to new things. Kelly will bring excitement to a fanbase similar to B-los. New ownership can change a lot of things. Including new found patience if a college coach who ended up close to averiging 52 points a game this season, can eventually win them the prize. And yes he hasn't won squat in D1. The Bills fan base would for the most part consider it a big deal just qualifying for a wildcard. Again he won't work in that pressure cooker win now or else mentality. Lets face it Bills fans are sick of losing. Several on this board laugh and consider Kelly's offensive philosophies a gimmick. To the same extent that Billy Beanes critics laughed at what he did to the game of baseball. or in the least the A's.. Not a single MLB team does not use Beane's metrics now, in at least some small way. Kelly's bust potential at least early on are large. his safest move would be to take a OC job in the NFL, but he's not going that route. Historically at Oregon his Defenses gave sucked. he has shored that up a bit since losing the national championship a couple of years back. If not for the loss to Stanford he would be coaching for the title this month again. But Standford's monster D-line was built and succeeded in beating him. Kelly is not for the Bills. First, he will need time. For a team that is at 13 years and running of no postseason. Kelly isn't going to take the Bills there in year1 and most likely year 2 neither. Also, nothing short of a monumental contract money and power would lure him to the Bills. He would likely make some huge offensive personal changes, and offensive philosophies. For lovers of the Gailey spread O. You're safe as Kelly will bring a similar look. In the end he has recently been mentioned as a possible interview for the Bills. meaning finally maybe Brandon, etc. will use due dillegence on hiring. They will not offer what will eventually get him into the NFL. Money and power. Buffalo just can't do both for him. Plus does anyone believe he wants to coach against his friend Bill bellicheat twice a year. Enjoy the rumor mongering. Brandon isn't hiring him. -

That is a sign of low self esteem, city and county wide. Has been for decades. -
He'd make a good OC in Buffalo.

Chip Kelly HC! (possibly for the Browns)
Best Player Available replied to 13player's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kelly, is a very innovative guy. One of interesting things about him is using math/odds/stats to help make his decisions. There's a reason he's been known to go for 2 when he goes up 6-0 at the beginning of a game. He'll play the odds. Punt from the 34 I doubt it.He might not make it. And way too progressive for the old school teams. If he makes it, it will take awhile. Buffalo would never interest him unless the financial offer was absurd. Chip Kelly will be good for the league someday. -
So the next coach.....

Personally I don't see any dilema for OBD. Brandon is in tune as well as any fan is, so are others in the FO. Look at Nix's 3+ drafts. They don't look so good other than the obvious precious few players. He needs one safety at least. Several linebackers, a wide receiver, his depth is maybe average at best. Those depth players were drafted as eventual starters too. Some of them hopefully won't be in Buffalo next season. The Merriman payout to ROI was bad. Cornell green? Really? On and on. Can he be ready and trusted for the task of hiring a complete coaching staff, plus get a true starting quarterback, and filling all those holes, plus the new ones. Cut bait and run, should be the thinking this week on Buddy Nix. -
Thanks Coach Gailey

That's not classy either. And I (though kidding) am asking to give yourself a strike. What positive about 16-32? He is a gentleman though, but really when your fired it's typically for a reason and not based on one's personality? -
Jim Kelly's wife "Rumors not true."

Or in other words, the exact same job he has now with the team. A male cheerleader, with zero input on the operations of a professional football team. -
Can the fans try and break out of retread losers as coaches? Maybe as a defensive line coach though. Those players look like some coaching is needed.

That's quality stuff right there. -
Maybe their the same type of people that make up rumors about a hot dog salesman and a dental implant spokesman. Buying a NFL franchise. Ralph has owned the team for over 50 years, yet some run with a joke about a couple of ex players with zero real world experience are going to buy a billion dollar corp.

Players Who Deserve Recognition

Where did I ever indicate "a 20 sack dreamer" thanks for the insult. Mario is on par with Aaron Schobel in his prime. That's really my own expectation. But Schobel never disappeared like Mario sometimes likes to do. Lots of people in Houston where happy to see him walk. I like the guy but Nix got schooled on the payday he handed out. -
Sports media would be all over it. In particular the talking bobbleheads over at ESPN.Billion dollar sports franchises rarely hit the market, Much less purchased by ( I have surpess laughter here) a EX QB and running back who have zero experience in management. Yep, Jimbo has a charity, the media silence to what in essence is a friggin blog rumor is deafening. As it should be. Even the goofy ESPN AFCE blogger James Walker is quiet. AP would be all over it if true. Since that's what they do.

Players Who Deserve Recognition

Mario Williams deserves recognition for literally taking the last 2 games off. Nothing from the guy. A quitter who has zero self motivation as a Buffalo Bill. Perhaps new coaching will light a fire. His sack total is meaningless look at the chump O-lines he got them from. Most disappointing first year big free agent signing in the History of the bills, and lets face it he had HUGE fans expectations. All but the most ardent homers, who can make excuses for Mario understand this. Bottom line the team is stuck with him for 2 more years a least. Talented man who apparently has no problem being lazy on the field. Terrible mistake from a team who has specialized in them for years.
