  1. Another consideration for WR's is going to have to be that there simply were not nearly as many pass attempts on average per team as there have been in recent years. 100 catches was once a sacred number, (of course achieved by Art Monk ironically) and now has become much more common place.
  2. I just don't see how one could say that Irvin was better than Reed and use the "product of the system" argument at the same time. Irvin's cowboys had one of the top 2 or 3 offensive lines EVER, along with one of the greatest RB's of all time and a phenom D, no?
  3. Maybe Len should aske the best WR of all time, Jerry Rice, what he thinks of Reed. I bet he'd change his tune quickly. Reed had no peer (not even Rice) as a pure, over the middle posession WR. He wasn't the fastest guy but was sure handed, strong, and quick and was Easily the 2nd best WR in the league atleast between '88 and '91.
  4. I think he's working on his composition skills with DC Tom...
  5. I forgot about Green.. you're right. I wouldn't quite put Mario in that list although he was pretty good at times. I thought Romes was a bit better.
  6. In no particular order (These guys to me were the best Bills that I've seen at corner, but I can't say who was the best among them): -Nate Clements -Antoine Winfield -Nate Odomes -Charlie Romes -Derrick Burroughs (if only his career wasn't shortened) -Thomas Smith
  7. Edwards' role was the same as PW. Push and disrupt the pocket. If a sack comes your way due to the QB falling into the opportunistic position, that's just icing on the cake. I also was not arguing that PW was in proper shape to play on all downs. This would assume that a DT would play somehow differently with the game on the line than at other times. If you look at all teams statistics on a game by game basis, you will magically find that the best stats come against the worst teams.
  8. I would agree with you if that were his role, but it was pretty apparent that it wasn't. Under last season's scheme the role of the DT on passing downs looked to be that of pushing or deflating the pocket, to which other attack positions would come free or the QB would be lead to a "desired" location. The team's success in both turnovers and sacks bares out the fact that this approach worked well overall.
  9. In all fairness to Pat, that hypothetical situation is about the farthest thing from the top of a DT's priority list as you can get. Unless it's some sort of pass-rushing specialist undersized DT type of thing...
  10. Bingo, we have today's winner!!!
  11. Yep, and the Bills have said they wanted to keep him and it was the agent's fault for letting him go for something close to what he would have made here. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle of all this, and I bet it's mostly because of the playing time we gave him. The Bills use a rotating defensive line approach and Pat didn't like that. I guess I can't blam him for that part of it...
  12. Oh yeah and that too
  13. I totally disagree with everyone who thinks Dallas has anything but an average to subpar WR corps. Other than that, I agree that they will be improved, and will be atleast in the hunt for a playoff spot towards the end of the season based on their focus on defense, improving their OL, QB and Julius Jones.
  14. I renewed the file if anyone still needs it.... http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3UGLHHA...QI1FQ8087BUNAFA
  15. Great stuff! That TD run, yes TD run down the left sideline against the Rams was spectacular. How they called him out of bounds on that one is beyond me. If there's any doubt, just call him in and let the replay sort it out. It's pretty obvious looking at those clips that most of his speed was already back at times LAST season. We've got quite the all-around back here and that's exciting...
  16. That IS funny but boy were they a terrible band
  17. Or maybe we should watch Gandy play with a camp in Buffalo under his belt. Then decide...
  18. Maybe they can cut Matt Schobel and we can have a new TE / DE brother tandem
  19. I would say Yes, and that's not necessarily too bad of a thing...
  20. In my understanding, Gandy is not necessarily a left tackle. He's played Guard as well and seems to be somewhat of a "Flex" player. I thought the Bears dumped him due to an early season injury last year but I could be wrong.
  21. Thankyou. The man is merely responding (honestly , god forbid) to the questions he is constantly being hounded with.
  22. Good points. I agree with you in your concern. I'll be rooting for him but he sure hasn't shown any propensity to make pressure kicks has he?
  23. If it were Losman that said this , I can think of 2 posters off hand that would certainly not be giving him the benefit of the doubt Sorry, I'm stirring up trouble now...
