Wait a second here. You won $50? Nobody got injured? There were no illnesses involved? No loss of life or property? I don't buy it.

There's so many to choose from, especially 'tween Young Frankenstsin and Blazing Saddles. But, a scene I particularly like is from High Anxiety. When Brophy, Dr Thorndyke's driver/photographer, figures out that Thorndyke didn't kill that guy in the hotel lobby and then is caught by Nurse Diesel and Dr Montague. Montague comes up w/ the ridiculous idea of buying every paper in San Fransisco to cover up their plan. The looks on everyone's face, including Brophy's (the guy they're kidnapping), as he's laying out this "plan" is hilarious. Afterward, Montague sheepishly says that, "I guess it isn't such a good plan", to which Nurse Diesel replies, "It sucks." Classic scene.

Depends on how the heroin market does, I guess.

So, the Bills are moving to Jacksonville, huh?

Nah. Anyone who was here and didn't get it done sucks. It's TBD law.

I watched his game vs Tampa Bay, and I came away impressed. I had seen him fold like a cheap tent in the face of pressure while @ BC, but he really made some impressive throws while being pursued in that game and he shook off a horrible start to end up w/ a decent game. To this point, it would seem I was wrong 'bout Ryan's NFL prospects. Now, I still don't know if he's the greatest thing since sliced bread or anything like that, but he belongs in the pros, that's for sure.

That seems to be the Big XII's theme this season. -
REMINDER: UB plays this weekend

I didn't think the roughing call was a bad one. I thought it was a stupid play to happen @ an absolute horrible time. Aside from that, the Bulls had awful clock management (throwing 2 passes after the fumble recovery instead of eating up clock?) and poor play selection down the stretch and just flat out blew that game. Blowing leads of 15 earlier (21-6) and then 14 w/ just over 4 minutes to go is ridiculous. That defense, in the two games I've been there (Temple and this one) has shown that they cannot be relied upon to win a game. Remember the way they scored late in the 2nd quarter of the Temple game, only to have the defense give up a TD in just 3 plays? Davonte Shannon does have some good ball skills, but he isn't nearly physical enough for my taste. He simply let Western wideout Jamarko Simmons (who was like a man among boys on Saturday) get in front of him to catch that 2 point conversion when he was in position to either pick it off or just knock it down. In run support, I saw him make a couple Deion Sanders-like tackles too. -
I haven't watched the game yet (tivo'd it; I went up to Buff to watch the UB-Western Michigan debacle), but I did get to listen to the radio after the game when I was going back to Erie and heard the score updates. I was thrilled.

You both got personal, Gordio and Stl Bills. Now get over it. Like you said, it's all in good fun, right? Hey Stl, your team is still very good, but they just got beat by a better team. It happens. I like the start my PENN STATE team has gotten off to, but I also know that 'til they can not only win the games they should win, but also take care of Michigan and TOSU, I'm not getting too excited. -
Hahaha!!!

Why not? Everyone else does.

So, we've added a third school to our list now. First Rutgers, then Missouri, and now Texas.

What's that they say 'bout pointing fingers again?

That, plus he's really really fast, AD.

Aside from showing a propensity to drop passes and get injured, what else has Davis shown so far in his NFL career?

What scoring system do you use?

Hey Dean, I think they were talking 'bout Boomer Esiason, not Chris Berman. -

Thanks. My Mother retired back in '04 after a 37 year career w/ SSA, which has also been my employer since '96. -
That was one heck of a catch! Very impressive.

He played through a sprained foot plus an infected toenail in his rookie year and still managed to get nearly 5 sacks, then came back healthy his second year to get 14 sacks, and is now on pace to get 16 in his third year (4 in 4 games). The guy didn't miss a start in this era of guys missing 4-6 weeks w/ a stubbed toe. If that's not very good, I'd like to see what is. Two years is far too early to throw in the towel on these guys. Ask the Giants fans, who booed Eli Manning mrecilessly last season. All he did was lead them on an incredible run and play near flawless football in the process. If they had given up on him after two years, none of that, including the MVP performance he had in last year's Super Bowl, would've happened. I dunno. I watched their game vs the Colts, and his technique looked okay to me. He doesn't know everything and doesn't play perfectly, but for where he is @ this point in his career, he's been impressive. Oh, and the Texans don't employ the 3-4 anymore. That was scrapped once Kubiak became the head coach. Hey, we agree. If we're going to make a big splash in terms of a trade (don't bet on it, folks), I'd hope it would be a TE or a pass rusher. -

I was born and raised in Erie. Which college did you attend? Gannon? Mercyhurst? PENN STATE-Erie? Edinboro? -

Yep. It's a theme that has been rehashed here countless times and it's no less true now: there are boorish fans of EACH AND EVERY TEAM! That doesn't mean that each and every fan of said team is boorish. And as for not being knowledgeable, I can only hope to lack knowledge to the degree of my Mother, a retired senior executive of Social Security, and my brother, an award winning journalist of nearly 20 years. Not to mention my wife, who keeps me in line (that takes some work) and also manages a pharmacy, a task that she spends 'bout 60-70 hours per week doing. -

He's become a very good pass rusher and in my opinion, seeing as how valued pass rushers are, he was worthy of the top pick. That's why the part of that article referring to the Texans sounds so stupid. If they already have a bona fide stud rusher in Super Mario, all they need opposite him is a complementary pass rusher. A Mike Rucker to his Julius Peppers, if you will.
