  1. To (seriously) answer your question, BenchBledsoe, Lori is one of the most respected members of this board, if not THE most respected. She's as knowledgeable a football fan as you'll find here, and doesn't usually partake in the sophomoric hijinks that go on here. So, to see her name being added to the fracas made those who know and respect her jump to her defense.
  2. Probably more of the same thing they did last year, when they were among the top rushing teams in football.
  3. As it so happens, Gilligan just recently 'got off the island'. I didn't even know Jay Riemersma was shot. Do we need a silent thread for him?
  4. My wife has a ton of shows on the tivo, only a few of which I like. The ones she tivo's that I also like are: CSI shows (all of them) House Law & Order: Criminal Intent Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Prison Break (only saw 2 episodes, but looks good) The Closer Without A Trace Here's shows that I tivo: my A&E shows (City Confidential, American Justice, and Cold Case Files) ESPN College Game Day any Bills shows, of course Late Show w/ David Letterman
  5. Unfortunately, I didn't see that one. I was pretty busy w/ other things last weekend, but I won't be this coming weekend, so I'll make sure I get in plenty of games. I need to start gathering some tape on prospective players, plus there's a few teams I want to see in action.
  6. Therein lies the difference in Maryland and Ohio State. OSU has a much bigger college football presence than Maryland, so they get the blue chip talents. Guys like Ted Ginn, who was considered the best athlete to come out of Ohio since Jesse Owens, aren't so tough for them to land. Maryland doesn't have that kind of clout. They get good players, to be sure, but they seem to develop their players a bit better than OSU.
  7. It was 'safe' to say that last year @ draft time too, dave. The Terps have had a recent run of quality defenders going into the NFL: Shawne Merriman this year, Starks and Madieu Williams last year, EJ Henderson the year prior, and Kris Jenkins a few years earlier. They have been better @ recruiting, especially since Freidgen became their coach, but in most cases, players leave MD better than when they arrived. Recently, they haven't missed the mark much talent-wise.
  8. Alright, that's enough of that. To put it in coachspeak, "planning to fail is failing to plan." Picking games to lose?
  9. Starks and Haynesworth are a great pair for the Titans inside. I was high on Starks' ability last year around draft time. I thought he'd be one of those linemen who would do well in either a 3-4 or a 4-3 front. He did not disappoint last year as a rookie, either. Like another rookie of theirs, Ben Troupe, once he got in there to play, he showed that he was pretty darn good.
  10. Exactly, AKC. Edwards was playing way too high yesterday. I saw one play where he got blocked and because of how he couldn't keep his pad level down, he turned sideways as Cadillac zoomed right past him. He needs to get low if he's going to stop anyone from running inside on the Bills.
  11. Yes I can.
  12. Yeah. What in the heck was Buddy Mularky thinking? Now, if Mike Mularkey would've made that decision...
  13. That reminds me: I need to call my attorney.
  14. No rumblings; just grumblings over Boller. Billick has gone on record as saying Boller is his QB, and Wright has done nothing to start an argument to the contrary.
  15. Brooks got traded from the Saints to the Packers???? Also, where's Shanny on your list?
  16. There's no reason to worry; it's only one game! One game where we again showed our inability to beat a good team. We're done. This season is over. Actually, we'll bounce back. JP will have a better showing next week, and our defense will show everyone that the Bucs game was a freak occurrance. But we still can't beat good teams, and we're doomed.
  17. Beautiful, ain't it?
  18. I wonder if they bought gas 'only if they needed it'?
  19. Nobody is to blame. Just pretend it didn't happen.
  20. And I'm sure Kiffin thought the Bills might double Rice, too. It's like Howie Long once said, "as long as I hear (one of my teammates' names) on the tackle, I feel like I've done my job." Because of the fact that our safety valve receiver, especially on hot routes (the TE) was in blocking most of the time, JP's options in the face of a pass rush were limited.
  21. You're right, Joe. What would possibly make me think NE's defense is any good. No joke w/ Denver. Their front seven is all about speed, something Losman will have to get a better handle on after watching yesterday's game. Well, Cincy did keep the opponent to a mere 77 yards rushing, forced 2 fumbles, and had 5 INTs. Then again, it was the Vikings, right?
  22. On the few occasions they did run outside, the OL looked very slow to get to their blocks. I saw a couple of plays where the pursuing LB would just run inside of Gandy to either string the play out to the pursuit or to make the tackle. And, in the 'What Was I Thinking?' department, I said last week that Big Bennie and Gandy would be better suited in a drive blocking scheme. I saw both guys get manhandled and bull rushed on a few occasions. Once, I saw McFarland practically toss Bennie backwards to get a shot on Losman. Ugh! Better luck next week, guys.
