It's hard to discount what Auburn did last year in THE most competitive conference in the nation, no less! To run the table in the SEC? That's impressive. As long as teams like USC and Texas can recruit well (and they can), they should be in the mix regularly, since the Pac 10 and Big 12 conferences aren't nearly as competitive as the SEC, ACC, or the Big 11. Personally, I think USC is among the best right now (considering they've won 2 "national titles" and have Reggie Bush, who is clearly the most dynamic player in college football now), but to say they have the best team? I just don't know. I imagine they'd have a much tougher road playing the tougher defenses in the conference I mentioned earlier than they would running through the Pac 10. Now, if they were playing those teams weekly and still put up the numbers they have been, then I'd say they're clearly the best in college football.

That doeesn't make sense, so it must be true.

My guess is that there's some fans who are so fed up w/ the Bills losing and missing the playoffs that they'd take anything that could rectify that problem without realizing the problems such a move would bring.

I must say that the beauty of being in Pittsburgh for the Halloween game against the Ravens was that I could be there for a MNF game (Psycho Ward 86's first one ever; I've been to a few) w/out having to hear that idiot Madden. I can only imagine how he and Michaels will suck up to the Pats for this week's game.

I'd like to believe that too, as I don't have anything against the Colts. What they have to do is show and prove. Until they beat the Patriots in a meaningful game, they won't take the next step as a team. This game, if they do win, should boost their confidence and let them realize that they can beat New Bruschi (We're not worthy!). I won't be ready to sing their praises until they do so in the playoffs though. The general consensus is that if they get home field, the Pats are done. If I recall, though, the Pats beat them in Foxboro and the RCA dome in the playoffs.

Which Indianapolis team will show up: the Colts, the team that has looked impressive so far this year, or the Cookies, who crumble each time they face the Patriots? We'll soon find out.

If we're going to go after a DT later on, I think Watson will be around, and he's better suited for what our needs are (big run stuffer to clog the lanes) than Wroten is.

When it comes to divisional games, none of that stuff matters as they always play each other tough, especially when the teams are heated rivals like the Steelers and Ravens, though try as they might, the Ravens aren't THE team the Steelers want to beat: it will always be about Cleveland for them, like it's always the Dolphins for us.

Don't be too harsh on Vince. That was the first film I ever saw him in, and I was tempted to boycott the rest of his movies, but the guy is pretty funny. Check out some of his other films before just giving up on him completely.

No 'but' on this one. Bulger had zero pocket presence when he first got his chance. He wasn't constantly being chased out of the pocket; he was giving up on plays too easily rather than using his checkdowns. That's all part of the maturation process, and there's no one way that works in all cases. Some people do well by baptism by fire (Peyton Manning, Big Ben come to mind) while others do just as well by waiting their turn (Carson Palmer, Steve McNair). Heck, some even kick it into gear after a rough beginning (Drew Brees). The thing is, I'm not sure if any NFL franchise could properly gauge the ability of a player based on a handful of starts playing behind a sieve of an offensive line (we'll get to that) and dealing w/ an offensive game plan that seemingly shows how confused the coaching staff is @ times. What do I mean? We want to be a 'power running team', yet we also want to draft receivers to "stretch the field". Mission accomplished, if 'stretching' the field is throwing the ball for a yard and praying that your WR can get the other 6 on his own on a critical 4th down. Nobody has led me to believe that our offensive line isn't getting it done. I've seen enough on my own, through 25 years of faithfully attending Bills games (and I wouldn't have it any other way!!). As I've said on more than a few occasions, our offensive line hasn't been the same since we decided to let our Pro Bowl bookend tackles, House Ballard and Will Wolford, test the free agency market. That, plus the retirement of perhaps my all-time favorite Bill Kent Hull, has led to the Dark Ages of Bills' offensive line play. I do agree w/ you that they're not a bad run blocking unit, unfortunately they are not good in pass protection, and w/out balance offensively, you cannot hope to get it done. Oh, but the Steelers are a run-heavy team, you say? True, but they also have a QB who is mature beyond his years, a 4 time Pro Bowl WR who is one of the best in the business, and a philosophy that challenges defenses down the field.....beyond the markers. Shocking, but true. JP may end up being a washout, I can't tell for sure. Thing is, neither can anyone else @ this point. I hope he does catch on and start to do well, just to shut up the people who would rather be right than root for a winning team.

Orlando Pace is da man! Wouldn't we love to have Kevin Mawae as our center? Damien Woody, Matt Light, Joe Andruzzi; some fairly decent players, I'd say. The best left side in the NFL w/ Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson. Sure, many others who had a good OL in front of them. Imagine that. He should be warming up another 3 or 4 seats, too.
