  1. I'm guessing a lot of players, including many who have had to deal w/ the media personally, don't take what they say as gospel. Then again, that's an "outsider looking in" observation.
  2. You would know. Well, there is that, I suppose. I try.
  3. And his position calls for him to be behind....... Honestly, you do have to be impressed w/ his poise early on. To have a QB w/ that kind of poise is nice.
  4. Well, Time Warner did sell him WCW; maybe they threw in HBO as a bonus, too.
  5. I think the Cards will get better, w/ the addition of James. Thing is, they still need to upgrade their lines more. Kendrick Clancy will help the D line, but their O line is really in need of help. Milford Brown and Deuce Lutui just ain't enough.
  6. Again, I have to defer to what I've read about him. This one is from Scouts.inc, who does the bios for ESPN and does a terrific job:
  7. I liked his interview a while back w/ Vince McMahon. Vince tried to intimidate Costas, who wasn't scared in the least, even as Vince kept inching his seat closer to Costas as if he were about to hit him or something. Great stuff.
  8. I admit, I knew very little of Pennington. Only what I read about in guides and such. Most seem to feel that he's a project w/ some upside, so to get him late wasn't so bad. He does have good size, and is strong, so maybe he can do well as a fill in RT. Then again, he's been described as a guy w/ little in the way of explosion off the snap, which is crucial for linemen who have size but not great lateral quickness (another thing I've read about him). All in all, I'd say it was a nice late round pick. If he develops, we've gone a long way towards fixing our problems. If not, it's just another wasted late round pick; nothing new to us.
  9. I hope he does well. We sure could use all the quality linemen we can find. If I were anywhere close by, I'd go to Busbys, if only to kick your a** for not showing up for the Saints game, AKC.
  10. Sounds like the case (in California, I think??) where the woman was shot around 40 times w/ her hands still on the steering wheel.
  11. I like that one.
  12. 19 Days And Counting!!!
  13. After seeing Jacobs in the preseason, I sure don't want the Bills to take him. He is, @ best, a loooong term project that may become a decent player.
  14. Happy birthday
  15. Not longer than I have. I was in college when they last played in '92, and I vividly remember watching that crap. Damn you, Reggie Brooks!
  16. I gotta have my fun, don't I?
  17. There wasn't any 'shot'. Most people who know me know I cannot stand "that school", but they also know that I can give credit where it is due. They played a pretty sorry game last night, but they came up w/ the win, and in a gutsy fashion, no less. Still, there's work needed to be done before a national title comes to town. Of course, I am hoping my team can do next week what the Ramblin' Wreck could not. It's too bad this game couldn't have been last year.
  18. Tell that to the pollsters, especially the coaches' poll.
  19. Now, to be fair, they did rush the passer much better in the second half. That definitely made it tougher to keep going to Johnson. That said, Tech just stopped looking downfield, even when they had the time.
  20. From ESPN columnist Gene Wojciechowski: They did look pretty bad in one sense, but they also showed that they can win ugly, so that's got to count for something. To be a champion, you should not only be able to win the impressive ones, you should be able to gut out games when you just look like crap. "That school" did just that last night. Their defense did turn in a solid performance in the second half, so there's hope. Now, they did get some help from a rather odd playcalling strategy by Tech (they spent waaaay too much time running QB draws in the attempt to set up the big play to Johnson and never really even challenged a secondary they were beating up in the first half; other teams won't make the same mistake), but the fact is that they kept Johnson from taking over, even when he could have late in the game. I still believe they'll need a better and more consistent effort from their defense (especially the secondary) the rest of the way. They'll also need their O line to give Quinn the kind of time he had late in the game. Their first half performance was pitiful. I'm sure Weis knows now that he has a work in progress (in terms of a national title) as opposed to a ready for prime time squad. Good thing is that champions have developed w/in a season, so they have a lot of time to right the wrongs. For now though, they probably should chill w/ the national title talk and the Brady Quinn Hypeman hype.
  21. That would be nice, huh?
  22. Yeah. It wasn't on the ESPN Game Plan for this week. Dammit. I also missed the WVU game (which was on the Game Plan, but my lazy a** forgot to tivo it), as I really wanted to get a good look @ them. Apparently, they're off to a great start.
  23. I missed the PSU game to see how they looked offensively. Also, I'm wondering how a green secondary will do against "that school" and their passing game. If they hold up, we're in business.
  24. It was the smart call to make. They got just what they wanted: they put the MLB on the spot. He couldn't "sell out" against the run, just in case Quinn threw it, which is why the sneak was so easy for them. Good call by Weis.
  25. Congrats to your team for their win.
