Derek Anderson opens up about retirement decision
K-9 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps, but like you said, it’s sad he got hurt. But I really noticed his better command upon his return. He was routinely checking in and out of plays, moving safeties, and asserting his will more confidently. He is gonna have some stinkers as all QBs do, but he’s on his way. -

Allan started “getting it” during his injury time out and upon his return last season. We’ve seen a continuance of that to this point of this season as well. To whatever credit Anderson deserves for that, he’s got it. A lot of it is Daboll and his recognition of what DCs were trying to do to Allan pre injury and the adjustments he made. Allan was way behind the QB development curve compared to the others in his draft class. For several reasons. But I’ve long felt he was the most intelligent QB of the lot and that once his mental skills caught up to his physical gifts, then the sky is the limit. -
Barnwell - Realistic 2019 goals for the NFL's 10 worst teams

Drive killers indeed. You can’t play consistent offense from behind the chains. -

Interesting stuff. On the matter of subtracting yardage totals for sacks, since that’s already done for the team passing totals and a sack can’t always be attributed to the QB, I think it’s fair as is. But it’s strange that while sacks count towards team passing yards lost, they aren’t considered a pass attempt. -
Squares around here don’t be groovin’ to the scene Chung be diggin.

Schopp. Rhymes with nope.

That’s bulletin board material if there ever was bulletin board material. -
Yes, there are “sides.” I just find the concept of “sides” as missing the point.
-
Why does every difference of opinion have to be tribalist in nature? And I would argue that fandom is the LAST F-ing thing society should or needs to be tribal about. If you’ve boiled every aspect of discourse down to tribalism, then yeah, you’ve missed the point. Entirely. And while I don’t agree that anyone reporting on the NFL is incapable of truth, many of them do work for outlets that depend on ad clicks to drive revenues. But that’s on us to recognize the difference. Caveat emptor.
-
Glad that gives you a chuckle. Tribalism misses the point entirely, as well.

Like I said, it’s the level of criticism that precedes any level of analysis. Pro or con. I think this concept of “sides” misses the issue completely as it relates to competitive team sports.
-
Criticism isn’t the issue. It’s the level of analysis that precedes it. The stance that Schopp and others take are often myopic at best.

His coaches and teammates have a part in it, too.

Antonio Brown Tells Raiders without his helmet no football

Pro Football Hall of Famers. Or ushers at an upscale Hollywood movie theater. Brown keeps up his current trajectory, he’ll end up closer to the latter when it’s all said and done. Bull crap. Oh, and he’s a loser. -

Can’t speak for anyone else who thinks he’s a loser, but my reason has ABSOFRICKENLUTELY NOTHING to do with anything about the Buffalo Bills. It has EVERYTHiNG to do with him and the Steelers. Period. So buy AB’s Phathead poster, get an AB bobble head to worship in your AB shrine, and root for the Raiders ‘til your heart’s content, but stop projecting your reasons for loving him onto Bills fans around here. -

Antonio Brown quit on his teammates, coaches, and fans during the most important week of the season while also finding time to rip a teammate because that teammate was voted team MVP by his peers on the team and not him (Antonio). That alone makes him a loser. What do you call that kind of player; a winner? -
No coke, pepsi!

Might as well just come out and say he’s made the team and will be my starting TE on opening day.

Just because a team has more than adequate cap space to make a deal, it doesn’t mean that they’re automatically willing to agree to whatever salary demands a targeted player makes. I suspect that Brown, assuming he would ever deign to play here in the first place, would ask for the moon as a premium to do so. And if a player will only play for you under certain financial conditions, it’s smart to tell him to go pound sand if he doesn’t value anything else about your organization. Especially if he’s a loser like Antonio Brown. -

Are you under the misguided impression that deals are made simply because teams have the cap space to accommodate them?
