  1. Half empty is when he’s feeling optimistic. Most of the time, he’s a glass empty type.
  2. Absolutely! I love how he targets certain guys, sticks to his evaluation, and does what’s needed to go and get him. He believes in his board and sticks to it.
  3. There has been more than a bit of applied shock doctrine going on for a weeks now so, per the bold text, that kind of measured calculus wouldn’t surprise me one bit given all the data about the hardest hit demographics. My hope is that people will listen more to the scientists than the politicians. Polling suggests we will.
  4. Oh, it’s definitely true. Mike Lombardi is simply not privy to the thousands of man hours invested in the scouting process over the last year. Regardless of his previous NFL experience, If any current GM or other personnel evaluator takes his word on a prospect over their own hard work and due diligence, then those teams are in world of idiocy.
  5. There is no way possible that Mike Lombardi, Peter King, or any other media pundit can downgrade or upgrade any prospect in the eyes of any team. The book on Tua has been written. It’s just a question of comfort level for any team considering him.
  6. Georgia DOESN'T meet phase one of the re-opening guidelines. That just underscores how feckless these “guidelines” are.
  7. Gilligan and Co. delivered one helluva season finale, just as I suspected they would. Love the fact that the last season will be 13 episodes in length vs. the usual 10. I have every confidence Gilligan and Co. will use that extra space to tell the perfect story. It’s funny how these actors are all 10 plus years older than when they started BB and yet their characters are all several years younger in BCS. They all look so much older in BCS than they did in BB. And yet, they pull it off without a hitch. Just great combo of writing and acting talent all around.
  8. The player selected will be the highest rated player on their board, regardless of position. I know that’s a cop out, but I have no idea who that player might be.
  9. Look, I’m not gonna get into a protracted debate about how Gilmore was or wasn’t used in Buffalo. The fact remains he has always been recognized as an outstanding man to man corner since coming out. And under Ryan, whose schemes are based on man coverage on the boundaries as I said previously, he and Darby played man coverage the vast majority of the time in Buffalo. Belichick didn’t discover any hidden man to man prowess when he got to NE***; it’s always been known. And as to the specific play you mention, when Hogan beat him and he did his finger pointing, I believe Gilmore was playing a man under coverage scheme and the safety was late. There were other times when Ryan used zone looks as well. But those few plays don’t negate the fact that he played man coverage the vast majority of the time. A few plays here and there don’t indicate zone schemes as being more favorable to Ryan. His defenses have always been about pressure and sending extra rushers to generate it and, once again, that’s made possible with two man to man CBs on the boundaries.
  10. Per the bold and just as a matter of clarification, Ryan’s defenses have always been predicated on man coverage at the corners. That was no different here as Gilmore and Darby were in man coverage nearly all the time. And coming out of college, Gillmore was known as a man corner. You may recall his rookie year when, after struggling the first half dozen games or so, the decision was made to let him shadow the opponents’ top WR threat and his game took off when he was allowed to match up and play man to man coverage.
  11. I think the stadium issue will be taken off the stove completely for a while after this crisis.
  12. It’s far less a question of design that it is in the players and their execution of it.
  13. You can never have enough long snappers.
  14. That’s certainly true. I was basically referring to the relative amount of playbook material generally devoted to the various positions.
  15. I’d include all OL positions, MLB, and safety in that group as well.
  16. I like this scenario.
  17. I’m one of those “crowded TE room” people and it’s not that you don’t make a move, it’s that you make a move for a proven difference maker only, and not an injured player with chronic groin issues.
  18. No need in a crowded TE room.
  19. But, but, but PFF doesn’t think so.
  20. What’s ill-informed is that White is a very good man corner as well. It’s unfair to hold scheme assignment against him in that regard.
  21. This “zone corner” bs is utterly ill informed.
  22. People accusing Tre of being a one dimensional CB really need to go rewatch last season. He has a less than great half against a HOF wideout with an all star QB pitching to him and all of a sudden he can’t play man to man? Really?
