  1. Joe has always been a d*ck. BEGIN & BIBI V. BIDEN In a November 2020 Wall Street Journal column Tevi Troy recalled “When Biden Met Begin” (posted in accessible form on Pundicity). Tevi recounted how Biden and Begin once clashed in a private June 1982 session with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee: Mr. Biden, 39, lectured the 68-year-old [Israeli Prime Minister Menachem] Begin over Israeli settlements, jabbing his finger at the prime minister and banging his fist on the desk. Mr. Biden warned that eroding support for Israel threatened U.S. aid. Israel was at war in Lebanon and far more dependent on American assistance than it is today. Begin wouldn’t be cowed. “Don’t threaten us with cutting off aid to give up our principles,” he shouted back, according to Time magazine. Former Sen. Bob Packwood of Oregon later recalled that Begin went further: “I’m not a Jew with trembling knees,” he reminded Mr. Biden. In the lore that has since developed, Begin’s response supposedly continued: “I am a proud Jew with 3,700 years of civilized history. Nobody came to our aid when we were dying in the gas chambers and ovens. Nobody came to our aid when we were striving to create our country. We paid for it. We fought for it. We died for it. We will stand by our principles. We will defend them. And, when necessary, we will die for them again, with or without your aid.” Tevi leaves open the possibly apocryphal nature of the end of the quote. In the Hebrew-language message below, Prime Minister Netanyahu now echoes Begin’s words, apocryphal or not, and responds to the same old Biden: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2024/05/the-echo-of-begin.php .
  2. Biden’s betrayal: “But for Michigan?” I have long said that although it’s very clear that Joe Biden is very cognitively challenged compared to just a few years ago, he still has plenty of agency and his brain is not so far gone that he’s unaware. Plus, he was Obama’s VP from 2009 to 2017, in full possession of whatever were his native faculties, and he did Obama’s bidding on this and on just about every other topic. So this is not some recent thing nor is it the result of his age-related cognitive problems. It’s a result of who he is: a corrupt and ambitious viper – or weasel, if you prefer – who would sell out anyone for a dime or for career advancement. https://www.thenewneo.com/2024/05/09/bidens-betrayal-but-for-michigan/
  3. Virginia school board restores Confederate leaders’ names to two schools The change comes four years after the schools had removed the names during the national racial reckoning sparked by George Floyd’s killing. By Dan Rosenzweig-Ziff A Virginia school board voted to restore the names of two schools previously named after Confederate leaders at a meeting that began Thursday evening and stretched into the early hours of Friday. The Shenandoah County School Board voted 5-1 to call the schools Stonewall Jackson High School and Ashby Lee Elementary School, four years after the board — under different members — changed the names of the institutions due to their ties to Confederate leaders Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee and Turner Ashby. https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2024/05/10/shenandoah-county-school-board-confederate-school-names/ .

  5. Rasmussen finds today that Republicans’ advantage on the crime issue is growing: Less than six months before Election Day, the Republican Party has widened its lead over Democrats in terms of who voters trust more to deal with the issue of crime. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 53% of Likely U.S. Voters trust Republicans more to handle crime and law enforcement issues, while 35% trust Democrats more. Twelve percent (12%) are not sure. This marks a net increase of six points in the GOP margin since February…. Independent voters favor Republicans on crime by an overwhelming 54% to 24% margin. https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/biden_administration/gop_widens_advantage_on_crime_issue .
  6. It is the picture that launched a thousand pearl-clutching articles. A few weeks after the armed FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago in August 2022, the Department of Justice released a stunning photograph depicting alleged contraband seized from Donald Trump’s Palm Beach estate that day; the image showed colored sheets representing scary classification levels attached to files purportedly discovered in Trump’s private office. Included as a government exhibit to oppose Trump’s lawsuit requesting a special master to vet the 13,000 items taken from his residence, the crime scene pic immediately went viral—just as Attorney General Merrick Garland, who authorized the unprecedented raid, intended. At the time, even regime-friendly mouthpieces questioned the need and optics of the raid; the photo helped juice the DOJ’s justification for the storming of Trump’s castle. “[The] question of whether Trump had classified material with him at his Mar-a-Lago resort has captured the public’s attention. The photo published by the government appears to answer that question quite affirmatively,” Washington Post resident fact checker Philip Bump wrote on August 31, 2022. The New York Times insisted the photo was consistent with how the FBI handles criminal investigations. “[It] is standard practice for the F.B.I. to take evidentiary pictures of materials recovered in a search to ensure that items are properly cataloged and accounted for. Files or documents are not tossed around randomly, even though they might appear that way; they are usually splayed out so they can be separately identified by their markings,” reporters Glenn Thrush and Adam Goldman wrote on August 31, 2022. Except…that is not what happened. A Stunt with Potentially Case-Killing Consequences for DOJ New court filings in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s espionage and obstruction case against Trump and two co-defendants conclusively demonstrate that the government used the cover sheets to deceive the public as well as the court. The photo was a stunt, and one that adds more fuel to this dumpster-fire case. Jay Bratt, who was the lead DOJ prosecutor on the investigation at the time and now is assigned to Smith’s team, described the photo this way in his August 30, 2022 response to Trump’s special master lawsuit: “[Thirteen] boxes or containers contained documents with classification markings, and in all, over one hundred unique documents with classification markings…were seized. Certain of the documents had colored cover sheets indicating their classification status. (Emphasis added.) See, e.g., Attachment F (redacted FBI photograph of certain documents and classified cover sheets recovered from a container in the ‘45 office’).” The DOJ’s clever wordsmithing, however, did not accurately describe the origin of the cover sheets. In what must be considered not only an act of doctoring evidence but willfully misleading the American people into believing the former president is a criminal and threat to national security, agents involved in the raid attached the cover sheets to at least seven files to stage the photo. https://www.declassified.live/p/the-dojs-doctored-crime-scene-photo .
  7. THE BIDEN BETRAYAL By Scott Johnson President Biden publicly acknowledged his betrayal of Israel’s anticipated offensive in Rafah in an interview with Erin Burnett on CNN. The CNN story on the interview is here. As a practical matter, Biden supports Hamas. Biden opposes Israel. Biden’s declaration of “ironclad” support for Israel is “inoperative,” to borrow a term from Watergate. On Tuesday Biden gave a Holocaust remembrance speech decrying those calling for “the annihilation of Israel, the world’s only Jewish State.” Biden asserted that his support for the “security of Israel and its right to exist as an independent Jewish state is ironclad, even when we disagree.” In Biden’s world, the usual principles of rational thought do not obtain. Who says A need not say B. Who says A also says not A. “Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers,” Biden said in reference to the 2,000-pound bombs that Biden is withholding from the IDF. Biden also told Burnett that he’s withholding artillery ammunition. Biden labored to articulate his thinking, or his “thinking.” This is how he put it on CNN: “I made it clear that if they go into Rafah – they haven’t gone in Rafah yet – if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities – that deal with that problem,” Biden has proved himself a fool many times over. It has long since become redundant. This episode merely puts an exclamation point on it. Every friend of the United States must weigh the price of friendship, Biden style. Every enemy of the United States is experiencing the kind of pleasure that is usually limited to private experience. 9. THE CORBYNIZATION OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY CONTINUES APACE: Day Before Biden Admin Announced It Would Withhold Weapons From Israel, It Issued Sanctions Waiver To Allow Arms Sales to Qatar and Lebanon. Less than a day before the Biden administration announced its intent to cut off U.S. arms sales to Israel, it issued a sanctions waiver to bypass congressional prohibitions on arms sales to a host of Arab nations that boycott the Jewish state, including Hamas ally Qatar and Iran-controlled Lebanon, the Washington Free Beacon has learned. On Tuesday—just a day before President Joe Biden threatened to withhold key weapons deliveries from Israel if the country moves forward with an incursion in the Gaza Strip’s Rafah neighborhood—the State Department informed Congress that it intends to bypass laws that bar the United States from selling weapons to nations that boycott Israel. The Biden administration, which has waived these sanctions in the past, said in the notification that it intends to extend the waiver through April 30, 2025, allowing weapons to be sent to a host of nations that work closely with the Hamas terror group and other Iran-backed terror proxies. https://freebeacon.com/national-security/day-before-biden-admin-announced-it-would-withhold-weapons-from-israel-it-issued-sanctions-waiver-to-allow-arms-sales-to-qatar-and-lebanon/ It’s just amazing how much Good Ol’ Moderate Joe’s foreign policy decisions sound exactly like the sort of thing Obama would have done! .

  11. Joe Biden Sets New Personal Best for Worst Foreign Policy Decision Ever DUANE PATTERSON We all remember the chaos we saw in the final week of August, 2021 - infants being tossed over razor wire, thousands of people crashing the perimeter of Hamid Karzai International Airport, trying to stop a moving C-17 cargo plane on the tarmac trying to evac the lottery winners that won a seat, and the falling body of someone so terrified of life in Afghanistan reverting to the control of the Taliban that he figured a better option was to hang onto the wheel well as the plane took off, only to black out once airspeed, lack of oxygen at altitude, air temperatures, and retracting landing gear conspired to plunge him to his death. It was without doubt the worst foreign policy debacle this country has gone through, and it was one that did not have to happen. We had a perfectly defensible air base at Bagram, Biden decided to move out the military before getting all the civilians out, did not care a whit about any allies or personnel of interest that assisted us in the Global War on Terror for 20 years, leaving them behind. It was truly disastrous. It was such a catastrophe that it seems unfathomable that Joe Biden could match that feat in such a short period of time in one presidency. But 50 years of adopting exactly the wrong approach on every foreign policy decision facing the United States has led to this moment of abandoning Israel just at the point when the final battle against Hamas begins. {snip} And when Joe Biden says Israel should completely eliminate Hamas, he of course would come to mean not eliminate Hamas at all, and instead, we'll make sure when there's literally nowhere else for Hamas to go, we'll withhold the very guidance systems on weapons that reduce collateral damage. It actually caught everyone off guard, because even though voices like Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Council spokesman John Kirby had floated that trial balloon a week ago, most observers believed the blowback to those two test threats was sufficient that Biden himself would never actually say it. https://hotair.com/generalissimo/2024/05/09/joe-biden-sets-new-personal-best-for-worst-foreign-policy-decision-ever-n3788069
