Soft on crime Democrats - the system is the problem?
B-Man replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
As Predicted, 'Violence Interrupter' Shot and Killed JAZZ SHAW You might have been tempted to believe that the entire "defund the police" movement had largely fizzled after people got a look at how society operates after the law and order situation fell to pieces under the Biden administration. But that's not actually the case at all. It's true that many cities have been moving to "refund the police," but certain activist groups have simply altered the language they use and continued to try to "reimagine policing." That's been the case in Chicago, where a group called the Englewood First Responders have been sending out "violence interrupters" with clipboards in an attempt to break up potential gang conflicts without involving the cops. That sounded like a rather unsafe idea to me and it turns out that it was. Dennis Green was one of the Chicago violence interrupters. I mention his name in the past tense because he was shot and killed last weekend while attempting this new form of "policing." Reliable. The Media Plot to Question Trump's Cognition is in Full Swing The latest well-coordinated plan among the legacy media to bail out Joe Biden's floundering reelection bid is coming clear this weekend. Biden's significant cognitive decline has become too much for even left-wing media outlets to ignore. The issue shows up repeatedly in the polls, where strong majorities do not believe that Biden is sharp enough to handle his current job, to say nothing of four more years as the leader of the free world. This is not a fixable problem, because Biden will only continue to decline. In response, the press had clearly decided that if they can't make Biden look better, they will need to try to convince the public that Donald Trump is just as bad. https://hotair.com/jazz-shaw/2024/06/16/the-media-plot-to-question-trumps-cognition-is-in-full-swing-n3790362#google_vignette .

Ukraine Rejects Putin's Peace Terms JAZZ SHAW There isn't going to be a deal made between Israel and Hamas any time soon, but at least we can hope for a peace settlement in Ukraine, right? For a brief moment this week, it began to look as if that might be a possibility. A group of world leaders are preparing to convene in Switzerland to discuss the terms of a possible ceasefire. When Vladimir Putin was asked about the meeting, he gave a rather surprising answer, saying that he was prepared to "immediately" order a ceasefire in Ukraine if certain conditions could be met. That hopeful state of play didn't last very long, however. As soon as he was informed of Putin's comments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Foreign Minister immediately shot the proposal down, labeling it as "absurd" and "manipulative." So it appears that we are back to the drawing board and there may not be any point to holding a peace conference in Switzerland. . @chamath says President Trump is completely different f rom how he is portrayed by the media. "He is charismatic. He's intellectually sharp, and he's funny. And when you put that together, he can engage an audience for a long time and be totally extemporaneous. The other thing I would say is that he is very polite. And he's kind in a way that was disarming and was not what I expected." "And so I felt that I had misjudged him many years in the past. And so I was very glad that I had an opportunity to sit beside him and to actually interact with him one-on-one. It was really engaging. "It was not just a pro-America agenda, but it was very clear that he was pro-innovation. So he was really supportive of AI in the details that he talked about, he was very supportive of crypto in those details. And he's very much low regulation, low taxation. And so when you put that together, it does stand very much in contrast with what the alternative is." "So it's us talking, and he says, you guys are a really beautiful couple. And I said, well, thank you. And then he turns to me, and he goes, well, you must be really rich. And I started laughing out loud. Natalie thought he was hilarious."

Priorities. President Biden is leaving the G7 summit a day early because he has a celebrity-filled fundraiser to attend in California. He is skipping out on a Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland. Vice President Kamala Harris is set to represent the United States in Switzerland. My first response was heaven help us. Who knows what kind of nonsense she will say or agree to? It's not a lot different than having Biden there, I suppose. The optics are bad, though. Biden is the president, at least for now. Biden's big claim to success was agreeing with other G7 members to give Ukraine billions of dollars in support of their war efforts against Putin. So, it's strange that Biden makes the big announcement of saddling America with a 10-year commitment to Ukraine, along with our G7 allies, and then skipping the peace summit. But, again, maybe not. Does Biden really contribute anything to these summits? His brain is mostly mush at this point because of the dementia. I don't say that to be cruel. It's the truth, we can all see him failing. We have eyes and ears. It seems to me that a fully functioning president would want to be involved in the peace summit. He would want to have his ideas heard by other world leaders involved in supporting Ukraine. America used to take the lead in world affairs. That doesn't happen with this administration. Biden leads from behind. He doesn't set the agenda. He's off to California for a big, celebrity-packed fundraiser on Saturday. The hosts include George Clooney and Julia Roberts. President Zelensky asked Biden to skip it and go to Switzerland for the peace summit but Biden is sticking with his Hollywood pals. Who could blame Zelensky for asking Biden to stay when he knows Kamala is going to fill in? This is where I get a strong chill up my spine when I realize that this is part of Kamala's on-the-job training. There is no way that Joe Biden will survive another 4-year term in office. If Biden is re-elected, we will get President Kamala. If that doesn't make voters jump off the couch and go vote, I don't know what will. Biden is certainly bad enough but Kamala would be even worse. This decision is a double-edged sword for Biden. He chooses a political fundraiser for his re-election over a peace summit. Yet, this is how the game is played. Politicians have to raise money. The top-ticket package costs $500,000. Jessica Levinson, an election law professor at Loyola Law School, said that it is a trade-off. For the majority of American voters, at a time when 60% of Americans say they are living paycheck to paycheck, this will look tone-deaf. Biden is having a let them eat cake moment. https://hotair.com/karen-townsend/2024/06/14/biden-skips-peace-summit-to-hurry-home-for-a-celebrity-fundraiser-n3790285 .

Biden Administration to Announce Path to Citizenship for Illegal Immigrants Next Week JOHN SEXTON It seems Joe Biden has learned absolutely nothing from the border crisis. How else to explain this? The Biden administration is making plans to announce one of the largest immigration relief programs in recent history, developing a policy that would offer legal status to hundreds of thousands of immigrants living in the country without proper documents, four people familiar with the plans told CBS News. https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2024/06/14/biden-administration-to-announce-path-to-citizenship-for-illegal-immigrants-next-week-n3790320 https://www.cbsnews.com/news/biden-plan-undocumented-immigrants-legal-status-10-years-in-u-s-married/?linkId=469729544 /

Biden and the crises er challenge on the border

Biden's Preparing a Mass Amnesty Push. Is It Even Legal? Matt Vespa Joe Biden’s immigration policy could be characterized as a failed experiment in chaos. No, that’s not accurate: it was intentional. The loss of operational control has permitted ISIS terrorists to cross into the United States. It’s underreported, but foreign nationals try to infiltrate US naval bases at a rate of at least two-to-three times a week. It’s a national security issue, and what does our president do? He’s prepping a mass amnesty push in a desperate attempt to pander to Latino voters. Biden is hoping to pass a new policy where anyone living here illegally for the past ten years can be afforded legal status (via CBS News): https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2024/06/14/bidens-preparing-a-mass-amnesty-push-is-it-even-legal-n2640514 https://www.cbsnews.com/news/biden-plan-undocumented-immigrants-legal-status-10-years-in-u-s-married/?linkId=469729544 . -
When Will The Ministry Of Truth Shut Down The Lyin’ Biden Ads? I & I Editorial Board June 13, 2024 President Joe Biden’s reelection ad campaign contains a boatload of misinformation and disinformation. Will the censors shut it down? Will the media alert their readers and viewers to the falsehoods? We all know the answers to those questions. The political left is obsessed with shutting down any speech that doesn’t agree with its narrative. And it has successes to show for it. The Twitter files are the preeminent example. There exists a censorship-industrial complex, “a state-sponsored system targeting ‘disinformation,’” says journalist Matt Taibbi, who had access to the Twitter files, that strike “at the essence of the right to free speech.” Hardly two years ago, and just a little more than a year into one of the worst administrations in U.S. history, the Biden White House created a Disinformation Governance Board. Its mission was to do the “critical work across several administrations” of addressing “disinformation that threatens the security of our country,” which meant punishing speech the Democrats don’t want the public to hear. It didn’t last long. In less than four months it was dissolved. Turns out that people didn’t trust it. Many instinctively knew that its real mission was to censor political opponents and the free expression of private citizens who don’t hold the “correct” opinions and beliefs. {snip} --- examples given Liars are going to lie, and there are no liars like Joe Biden’s Democratic Party of 2024. It’s as if the Disinformation Governance Board were still in business and was dishing out lies rather than exposing them. But then that is exactly what it was designed to do. https://issuesinsights.com/2024/06/13/when-will-the-ministry-of-truth-shut-down-the-lyin-biden-ads/

Late stage. The following transcript is not embellished. This is what he actually said. BIDEN: And I know you're a typical press guy, you're grabbing me in front of this, all this...(Biden says something completely unintelligible)...and I trust you as far as I throw your phone. I have a good arm, man, I can throw a long way, but my point is this... (Five seconds of awkward silence) I have made very clear to the Israelis what they have to do in the near term, if they don't, what's going to happen. KATZ: What's going to happen? BIDEN: A lot KATZ: Are you guys going to cut off funding? https://redstate.com/bonchie/2024/06/14/yikes-biden-severely-triggered-by-a-reporter-tries-to-make-a-threat-but-flubs-it-n2175505

Fortunately, Friday is Joe Biden's last day in Italy for the G7, so the time that he can embarrass us overseas at the conference is thankfully coming to an end. We've seen him wandering and people having to help redirect him back to where he was supposed to be going. We've seen him giving garbled answers and snapping at a reporter because the reporter dared to ask him a question at his presser that wasn't about Ukraine. That managed to get a reaction out of the White House Correspondents Association. They threw Biden under the bus in their statement, saying there were no "deals" as he claimed. On Friday, Biden was involved in "work meetings" that were closed to the press. He also had a meeting with Meloni as well as a meeting with Pope Francis. The White House said Biden would be talking about issues concerning Ukraine, the war in Gaza, AI, and climate change with the Pope. There was a photo-op session where they showed the Pope meeting some of the G7 leaders and guest leaders. But my favorite look might be from Meloni. It was very slight, but check her out at the end, it's that tight-lipped smile, that look that seems to say to me she's tired of babysitting, "Thank God, this is almost over."
