This is the fifth women’s volleyball team whose players have chosen to forfeit against SJSU this season—all for the same reason—which is described in a media statement put out by members of the UNR squad: We, the University of Nevada Reno women’s volleyball team, forfeit against San José State University and stand united in solidarity with the volleyball teams of Southern Utah University, Boise State University, the University of Wyoming, and Utah State University. We demand that our right to safety and fair competition on the court be upheld. We refuse to participate in any match that advances injustice against female athletes. What the site does not mention is that this San José State Women’s volleyball star is not biologically female. Rather, Fleming is a biologically male athlete who chooses to self-identify as a woman for legal and social purposes. However, in keeping with all the other farcical aspects of this saga, SJSU athletics officials have been required to pretend that this fact is somehow less important to the volleyball community than Fleming’s artistic inclinations and culinary interests. The pretense is rooted in the official policies of SJSU’s Athletics Department, which demand that the asserted female gender identity of trans women such as Fleming be taken as trumping human biology. This explains why, when the above-described farce finally ended on 26 October, it was UNR, which fields an all-female volleyball team, that was required to forfeit—and not SJSU, which doesn’t. https://quillette.com/2024/11/01/college-volleyballs-spartan-meltdown/

LIFE IN THE BLUE ZONES: Police brace for election violence, DC being boarded up. On the heels of surveys showing that over half the nation’s voters believe there will be violence between the election and inauguration, law enforcement has begun to prepare for the worst. Some offices in Washington, D.C., are being boarded up, and police and military training has stepped up at the U.S. Capitol. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/washington-secrets/3211615/police-brace-for-election-violence/

Bill Maher Rips Media for Liz Cheney Firing Squad Hoax: ‘Just Don’t Lie to Me.’ Left-wing comedian Bill Maher tore into the corporate media during his Real Time Overtime segment for lying about Donald Trump calling for Liz Cheney to be executed. “I woke up to the headline ‘Donald Trump had called for a firing squad for Liz Cheney,’ said Maher, adding, “and this is what I really don’t like about the media — No, he didn’t.” Maher goes on to explain what Trump clearly said. “He’s criticizing her for being a war hawk. I mean she is Dick Cheney’s daughter.” Maher then read Trump’s full and unambiguous quote. Here it is: Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. Let’s see how she feels about it, you know when the guns are trained on her face. You know, they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington, in a nice building saying, “Oh, gee, well, let’s send — let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy.” “Just to be clear,” Maher continued, “this is exactly what hippies always said. This is exactly what peaceniks always said. [Trump is saying], ‘You know what, it’s very easy to sit in your building and send young men to die.’” He then said to the media, “Just don’t lie to me. I don’t like Donald Trump. Don’t lie to me and tell me he wants her in front of a firing squad. He was saying something that … again, sounds like what hippies used to say.” https://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2024/11/02/nolte-bill-maher-rips-media-liz-cheney-firing-squad-hoax-just-dont-lie-me/

The liberal media’s distortion of Trump’s Liz Cheney comments exposes how panicked they are. BRENDAN O’NEILL So now Donald Trump wants to kill Liz Cheney? Worse, he wants to drag her before a firing squad. Is there no end to this man’s wickedness? The Lefty web and progressive media are awash with anguished commentary on Trump’s latest dream of violence. “Trump fantasises about guns pointed at Liz Cheney’s face”, pants an irate Rolling Stone. Trump has “told a crowd” that “Liz Cheney should have guns ‘trained on her face’”, yelps Vanity Fair. He wants “nine barrels shooting” at her, cries Politico. There’s only one problem with this vision of Trump as such a lunatic liability that he fancies hauling poor Liz Cheney off for execution – it is completely untrue. It is undiluted poppycock. What Trump actually did was criticise Cheney’s pro-militarist streak. In a sit-down chat with Tucker Carlson in Arizona, he laid into her “war hawk” tendencies. And he wondered out loud – in his usual, unfiltered language – how she would feel about war if she was in the thick of one herself. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/the-liberal-media-s-distortion-of-trump-s-liz-cheney-comments-exposes-how-panicked-they-are/ar-AA1tlThP

Wrong thread. And for the usual suspects who dismiss this as a stupid story about a squirrel, read all of this. Why Peanut the Squirrel Matters David Strom If you live on Twitter/X (or any of the social media platforms), you will likely have heard the story of Peanut the Squirrel. Peanut has been a social media celebrity for seven years. An animal rescue nonprofit was built around him, saving hundreds of animals, from rodents to horses, from abuse, neglect, or simply bad luck. His story and his antics charmed millions of people, and helped people escape from the grittier and nastier realities of living in an unforgiving world. In the midst of the decisive election campaign of our lifetimes, why talk about Peanut the Squirrel? Aren't there more important issues like the polls, turnout, shenanigans, and all the day's news? Yes, all those things matter. But the story of Peanut matters because it is a microcosm of what we are facing. A nameless, faceless, and merciless bureaucracy with no sense of proportion or empathy can, at a whim, upend people's lives over what amounts to nothing. It can seize a beloved family pet, the mascot of an organization that does enormous good, just because some nanny-stater decides they don't approve. The streets of New York City are filled with criminals and migrants, billions are spent on hotel rooms for illegals, drugs are ravaging our communities, and lawlessness is spreading in ways that degrade our civilization. Those are big problems that are difficult to deal with, so the government turns its Sauron eye to Peanut because it can overwhelm the little guy with no problem. Improving people's lives is hard. Killing a squirrel is easy. https://hotair.com/david-strom/2024/11/02/why-peanut-the-squirrel-matters-n3796597

Economy U.S. economy added just 12,000 jobs in October, impacted by hurricanes, Boeing strike CNBC, by Jeff Cox Job creation in October slowed to its weakest pace since late 2020 as the impacts of storms in the Southeast and a significant labor impasse dented the employment picture. Nonfarm payrolls increased by 12,000 for the month, down sharply from September and below the Dow Jones estimate for 100,000, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. In what had already been expected to be a downbeat report, October posted the smallest gain since December 2020. The unemployment rate, however, held at 4.1%, in line with expectations. A broader measure of unemployment that includes discouraged workers and those holding part-time jobs https://www.cnbc.com/2024/11/01/us-jobs-report-october-2024.html Horrible numbers. Please note that August and September rates were revised downward!

Kamala Harris and the Democrats love women. Ask them, and they'll tell you. But that offer only applies to abortion. The rest of the time? They can't even define what a woman is, lest they offend the trans activists. But they can come up with increasingly insulting euphemisms for us: These people are NOT okay.
