Back to the thread. . . . . . . . . . and reality DOGE Showdown By John Hindraker GOP House leadership negotiated what appears to be a lousy continuing resolution with the Democrats. It is 1,500 pages long and dropped with barely enough time for legislators to review it, which should alone be reason to vote No. What is the worst that could happen? A “government shutdown,” in which the government unfortunately does not shut down. I would welcome that outcome. Enter DOGE, in the form of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Musk has urged Congressmen to vote No, and said on Twitter that anyone who votes for this resolution should not be re-elected in 2026. Ramaswamy read the bill in its entirety and posted this–in my opinion–highly intelligent commentary: The continuing resolution increases spending rather than continuing existing spending, and includes numerous policy provisions that should be left to the next Congress. It looks to me as if Musk and Ramaswamy are bringing a long-needed seriousness to the GOP’s alleged effort to cut spending. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2024/12/doge-showdown.php

THE LEFT’S DEMAND FOR HATE IN AMERICA VASTLY EXCEEDS THE SUPPLY: Racist messages found on Tennessee college campus were ‘fabricated,’ school says. A Tennessee college revealed that racist messages found written on campus were fabricated by a student in an apparent attempt to make Donald Trump supporters look bad. Rhodes College confirmed to Fox News Digital that a student had admitted to leaving the messages strewn about campus that were found over Thanksgiving break and were being investigated as a hate crime. Instead, it turned out to be yet another race hoax. “Thanks to the tireless efforts of our Campus Safety officers and the Memphis Police Department, the investigation into the hate crime that occurred recently on our campus has ended with the identification of the perpetrator and the conclusion this incident was fabricated. This individual has admitted responsibility,” the statement read. https://www.foxnews.com/media/racist-messages-found-tennessee-college-campus-fabricated-school-says?intcmp=tw_fnc

Exactly. Please note that Tibsy immediately started a nonsense thread about this. I would hope that my fellow PPP'ers would ignore it. .

Of course he did. ABC’s George Stephanopoulos was repeatedly warned not to use word ‘rape’ by producer — but said it anyway: sources by Alexandra Steigrad & Ariel Zilber George Stephanopoulos was repeatedly told by his executive producer not to “use the word rape” before going on the air to discuss Donald Trump but the ABC News anchor ignored the warning — a decision that cost the network $16 million, The Post has learned. Parent company Disney’s capitulation last week in the defamation lawsuit by Trump against ABC News and Stephanopoulos shocked media and legal experts, but the damning revelation could help explain why Mouse House CEO Bob Iger signed off on the settlement so quickly. The “This Week” host uttered that Trump was “liable for rape” while discussing the civil lawsuit won by journalist E. Jean Carroll during an interview https://nypost.com/2024/12/18/media/abc-parent-disney-didnt-think-it-would-beat-trump-in-court-report/

Thank you Senator Schmitt. GOP Senator Blocks 'Desperate Attempt' by Dems to 'Trump-Proof' Washington Townhall, by Leah Barkoukis Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) said he was "proud" to block a proposal from Democrats to protect federal workers from potentially getting reclassified as political appointees under the incoming administration. The measure was introduced by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) as a way to prevent such reclassification without congressional approval. He asked for unanimous consent to pass the Saving the Civil Service Act, warning about “attempts in recent years to erode the independence of the federal civil service,” a reference to efforts President-elect Trump made in his first term. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2024/12/18/schmitt-blocks-proposal-to-protect-federal-workers-n2649212
