NFL Network and Comcast close to a deal?
DieHardFan replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great news! Not only does the NFL back down they also throw DirecTV under the bus. The deal spans 10 years and would cost Comcast 40 cents to 45 cents per subscriber, down from the NFL's previous asking price of 70 cents. By Aug. 1, the NFL Network will be carried throughout Comcast's service areas on a programming package called Digital Classic, which has around 10 million subscribers. "It's always been a matter of what's a fair price. ... I think we were able to work that out," Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts said on a conference call with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. "I think both sides may have had to give a little more than they intended." The NFL threw in access to DirecTV's Red Zone Channel, a part of the Sunday Ticket satellite package with live look-ins to games when teams are inside the 20-yard line. link -

Lynch Appeals Suspension
DieHardFan replied to Band of Merriman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hope the timing will help push any suspension(s) later into the season. First three games are too crucial (to Bills and NFL pocketbook) to be without Lynch. -
White guy suspended for calling himself African-American

Or even more basic: How much financial aid are you qualified for? -
Sounds like I hit a raw nerve here. If you weren't suffering from the martyr syndrome you might have considered that the intent was that it was not OK for EITHER group to use ni$er. And please explain why it is more offensive than any other ethnic term? Because jackson/sharpton were able to twist well intentioned white guilt into political and monitary gain while exploiting their own race? Regarding the blah blah about slavery and oppression that you never had to endure but that you have chosen to grasp onto so you can feel offended, you may want to lighten up and enjoy that life that you infer you have and I don't. [bTW I love the No offense but your thought process is retarded line. ]

Politically Correct Racism. [similar to the lack of thought process that it's ok for blacks to use the word ni$$er but it's a capital offense for whites.]

Since it is still early some serious thought should be put into changing the TBD Tailgate to the 10/11 Cleveland game. Some advantages: It's at 1pm. It a more likely win. [ Easier opponent and Lynch will be back.] Generally a game later in the season is an easier and cheaper ticket. For school kids and govt workers Monday is a Holiday [Columbus Day].

Buffalo 5th hardest city to "get by"
DieHardFan replied to 49er Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If you're going to the Stadium from the South, West or East it's fairly easy. From Canadeer it's a little trickier. -

Maybe he was waiting for a semi-legitimate source (foxnews) instead of a completely bogus one (The Sun). -
Report: Lynch suspended three games
DieHardFan replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Based on the delay between the public meeting/slapdown and the suspension with the announcement of the MNF game coincidentally happening between them, it may be a set-up to allow ML to play in the 1st game and serve his suspension later. There are many more advertising bucks to be made with ML in the game. Best strategy would be to have ML keep his mouth shut and let the Bills and players ass-oc PR machines run for a while and then appeal late. Goodell could reduce the suspension and not start it until game 2 (or 3 if they want to make it look better.) When $ s are involved everyone is on the same page. -

As long as it lasts 3 games that's all we need. -
Drug tests for welfare recipients
DieHardFan replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Solution I would like to see is to require every recipient to have to report to a center daily from 8a-4p. Have a place for their kids and have job search resources available. Those that want to help themselves can, those who want to do nothing can sit there and be less likely to be nocturnal (assume it will be loud enough that they can't sleep all day), and those that don't show up would lose benefits. The reduction in the rolls would more than pay for the program. -
Titans @ Steelers for Thursday night season opener
DieHardFan replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not speculation it's fact. Took me a few years selling extras to figure out that the opener will have demand whoever is playing, the Sep and Oct games will have good demand and the Nov and Dec games are hard sells. Obviously the actual opponent and the record at that point will skew this. Used to think it was because the hype had died by the cold months (and it is a factor) but especially in recent years the fans are fair weather. And yeah they were sellouts but this was also affected by the large amount of seasons sold and corporate buys. Check out the stands at the Dec games. Crowds are smaller and they thin out faster. Less beer and hotdog money for Ralph. Maybe TBD should break tradition and have it's tailgate in Dec. -
Toronto trying to get more games from Buffalo

To paraphrase Mr Weo what can elected officials do (besides fill their pockets with lobbyist money). Is a reverse deportation possible? -
Did anyone check Rogers Center (American Spelling). That may be where TO is practicing.

2008 Bills Schedule (Yes 2008)
DieHardFan replied to Never NEVER Give-up's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too bad you have to limit yourself. The Browns on MNF and the Pats games were much worse! -
Coverage of T.O. not in attendance
DieHardFan replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why is this a bad thing? Buffalo is typically ignored in the media. If they send their cameras to show who is not there at least you can watch the rest of the team at practice. -
The NFL will issue the schedule when they are good and ready! How dare a lowly fan ask such an impertinent question?

Toronto trying to get more games from Buffalo
DieHardFan replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just because you call a turd a Home Game doesn't make it smell any better. A Home Game should as a minimum be one that your hometown fans can easily attend and where you can expect a 12th man advantage. Not one where your name is spray painted on the field and you get to wear home colors. Maybe we should move our Home Game against the Pats to Boston. The ticket prices would likely exceed those in Toronto, it would be a sellout (in both senses of the word) and you'd create an even more select group that could brag about making all the Home Games. If the Bills and their Toronto cohorts can convince others to think like this the team will move. (and it's attended not attend, preferably placed before the 90) -
RealFootball365 really needs to go off the main page
DieHardFan replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So let me see if I understand this. The front page of the dictatorially run TBD empire is farmed out to this mysterious billsbeat group that the admins (and possibly not even the grand poohbah himself) has any control over??? Would explain why (now last season's) schedule stopped updating after the SF game and the featured video is stuck on the 11/23/08 KC-Bills recap but doesn't fit the iron fist mentality that rules the rest of the site. Something doesn't add up here. [bTW: For the record I'm with the minority viewpoint that all media submitted articles should be linked (even the propaganda from buffalobills.com) so the viewer can choose which ones to read. This is purely from a 1st amendment POV.] -

WTH is the (ironically named) Bills Beat crew? -
Hope it's not too late for HBO to schedule this season's Hard Knocks with the Bills. Should be a real interesting preseason.

Not as bad as the Bills website. Their lead story is Galloway's visit! -
