  1. That's true, but really only the Raiders and Pats games were played in such last minute dramatic fashion...I suppose you could add the Philly game too, but that's on the fence. So we easily could have a few less wins, but we could have - no, SHOULD have - have beaten the Bengals Giants and Jets. Still wouldn't give us a great record, but it would be enough to be in the fight for that last wild card spot. That at least shows a little promise to me, cause despite our handful of blowout losses we actually had a chance to be in contention this year.
  2. Our kicker (well now injured kicker) is Dave RayNer not Raymer, which everyone here keeps calling him.
  3. Yeah that's not entirely true though. You just picked two of the best QBs in the league so it's not a stretch to see how they overcome bad defenses. Also it should be noted that the Packers D gets a huge amount of takeaways, which is in invaluable to a team. Look at other top teams this year...Alex Smith is mediocre and pretty much never puts up big points. He's surrounded by a great run game and top defense, he just needs to manage the game and not make poor decisions. Before the NE game, Tebow was 6-1 with the Broncos, yet for 3 quarters every game he was terrible. Some of his stat lines were staggeringly bad, as he was lucky to hit a few passes a game. The thing is their D kept them in it, so despite a horrible performance, he always had a chance to win the game at the end with a solid drive or two. When the Bills D gives up 3-4 touchdowns like nothing in the first half, Fitz is forced to try and be Aaron Rodgers and score on every drive to have any chance of even being somewhat in the game. Very few QBs can do that...Fitz actually showed he could early in the season, unfortunately he just couldn't keep it up cause he's really not the type of QB who should throw 40 times a game. Another example is the Ravens, as they're a top team and Flacco - while good - isn't the reason they've been winning. All I'm saying is if our D wasn't awful and could perform like those teams, Fitz would have a much better chance at winning, like the aforementioned Alex Smith, or Tebow. He's just being asked to shoulder way more then he should. I do think we should take a QB though if we have a shot at a decent one. Fitz is too inconsistent, and although he could be a fine game manager he just doesn't have the team around him to do so.
  4. Yeah well I'll believe it when I see it. The Bills ARE western NY. How many other teams can you really say that about? A few, but not many. The Jags are certainly not ingrained in Jacksonvilles blood. Sure anythings a possibility but relocating the Bills would cause an absolutely massive uproar, and I think it's clear that there are a lot of people very committed to keeping the Bills put.
  5. Buffalo is pathetic. The 5-2 start doesn't even seem real at this point. We are playing arguably the worst football in the league - probably bottom 3. Fitz can't hit ****. I stood up for this guy for a long time but I can't justify it anymore. We need a QB, and we can utilize Fitz intelligence as a mentor, that's about the best were gonna get.
  6. I haven't read most of these posts, so if I'm rehashing what's been said, my bad... I know Fitz gets a lot of the blame for our recent losses, and given that our offense has been pretty inept on this 6 game losing streak, I agree he shoulder some of it. But looking at what's going on in Denver with Tebow, it's clear that our biggest hurdle is defense. Although he's improving, I don't think Tebow is much better then Fitz, if he is at all. He is obviously more athletic and trumps pretty much everyone as a running QB doing the option, but his passing stats have been piss poor. In fact his overall play in games is usually horrible for the first three/ three and a half quarters. He somehow comes alive at the end, but if not for a stellar defense those late game surges don't matter. I mean think about, the Broncos can play an awful game yet still find themselves in it. We play an awful game and were down 3-4 touchdowns. If our D played like theirs we could afford a few bad offensive outings. If they had shutdown any of the teams in our last six, we could have pulled out a few ugly wins. Alas we constantly find ourselves down 20 points in the first quarter of the game. Very few teams can win games when they're bombarded like that. Obviously we have drives to respond and score but it suddenly becomes a must that we score on each drive which just ain't gonna happen.
  7. Fitz is our QB, so I support him fully...perhaps if we had a better option my attitude would change, but that's not the case. He obviously can play good football, we've all seen it. I mean the guy was AFC offensive player of the month in September. He's just so damn schizophrenic...a handful of games as one of the best in the league then a stretch as one of the worst. He comes back and plays great against a very tough Jets D, then the following weeks he becomes stagnant. I hate to say it but my faith in him is rapidly disappearing. Our once lauded "high-powered" offense is limp, I have no confidence in us scoring with the ball, yet I watch the Chargers and have no doubt they will. It's pretty sad...first time I've turned off the game after one half.
  8. Wow, people are really reaching here aren't they? I love Fitz's beard, it's completely awesome and badass. To say he should shave it because it doesn't match some ridiculous player criteria you've come up with in your head is pretty sad. Let the man look how he wants to look. To say it has any effect on his playing is laughable and a pathetic attempt to try and knock him down. But go ahead, keep up the ultra conservative attitude. Forget the fact that many years ago beards were very common in people of high power. Per Wikipedia, from Lincolns presidency to Tafts, "The beard became linked in this period with notions of masculinity and male courage." But bottom line here is that beards are awesome. Plus, many other NFL players have them - Nick Mangold comes to mind. Jake Plummer used to have an awesome look with long hair and a beard. Heck even Andrew Lucks been rocking a cool beard. Stop hating!
  9. Ehh, Manning would be a pretty bad move. We don't need 30 year old injured Peyton Manning, we need to find our own young Manning. I want the QB who finally takes us there to be a Bill from the start and always one, a la Jim Kelly. Plus, for some reason I doubt that we'd be doing that much better this year with a top QB. Well maybe Brady or Rodgers, but this team has too many injuries and concerns beyond QB that must be addressed.
  10. Yet he's got one of the best completion % in the league? Seriously, watch some other football games. You will notice that pretty much every QB misses a lot of passes during games - many in fact miss much more then Fitz. I'm not saying Fitz is perfect and he has thrown bad passes, but I've also seen him show crazy accuracy skills. Some passes in the Jets game were amazingly tight windows he hit spot on. The last touchdown in the Titans game was also seriously threading the needle. It was impressive to say the least.
  11. The Bills have always been the coolest team in the league to me. I don't know why when I was like 9 I decided to became a fan (well I do live in NY, 5 hours away from Buf), but something just drew me to them. There's something about them that's unlike any other team in the league. Like others have stated, I couldn't not root for them or be anything less then a huge fan, even if I wanted to.
  12. How is he "figured out" beyond anyone else? Here, I have figured out every QB in the league; get pressure, sack them, cover their WRs. And for someone who's figured out he still manages to be top 10 in most categories...pretty damn impressive. If anything you could say the offense and it's scheme have been figured out. Still though there's video out there on how best to play EVERY team, that doesn't mean it's always gonna happen. As long as the WRs run good routes and get open, and Fitz doesn't make big mistakes, they can compete with anyone.
  13. Okay...but where are all these elite QBs supposedly waiting in the wings for us? We've been saying the same thing for over a decade now, that our guy is right around the corner if only we get rid of our current QB - yet it NEVER happens like that. We get another Edwards or Losman and the cycle keeps on repeating. I think Fitz is good enough to get this team to the playoffs, but I def wouldn't call him elite. He's in the top third of just about every category with some very solid numbers, yet his biggest issue is consistency. Still though, I do think he's better then at least 15-20 QBs starting right now. People should realize that all QBs have plenty of missed passes each game, and some they wish they could have back...it's just how it is. He was a touch off on a few passes against the Jets on that last drive, but he also threw a few perfect balls that should have been caught but they weren't. Overall Fitz is far from this teams biggest concern. Yes he likely won't be a hall-of-famer, but with a strong, not injury riddled team around him he can win us games. So until we do find our Aaron Rodgers, this is what we got, and it could be a LOT worse. So instead of whining about him, I'm gonna support him because he'll be our guy for a few years...but that doesn't mean I'm blind to his shortcomings either. And seriously, the noodle arm thing needs to stop. We've seen him throwing 50 yard passes - like Stevies drop in the Pitt game last year - without much strain. How much more do you really need? FYI, they've lost 6 out of the last 8, not 7. And it's a team sport, the defense and receivers played a huge role in our losses. Fitz shouldn't have to shoulder that all.
  14. Yes, people love to forget we have one of the worst defenses in the league. Unless were the Packers or NE, it's just too tough to overcome.
  15. It's just laughable at this point. We should have won these past two games, just keep shooting ourselves in the feet. Last week, penalties, botched kicks, blown 3rd and long, dropped passes. This week...TD called back (which was a point swing), fumbles everytime we got something going. I'm not gonna blame Fitz, I thought apart from a few throws - one pretty bad overthrow - his play could have got us a W. More drops, like usual. I would love to just win 1 more this year...yet I have little faith.
  16. I only have hated Brady over the years because he plays for the Pats, a division rival. I also grew up with many friends and family who were Pats fans so when they won 3 SB's in 4 years, it was pretty brutal. If he played for any other non-AFC East team I'd never have really disliked him all that much. I respect him as a great player though. I do think overall Manning is better despite not as much success, but I guess it's pretty much a toss-up. To be honest, after losing to the Giants and going 18-1, I got all the Brady-losing satisfaction I'll ever need. The biggest choke in sports history.
  17. Anyone who says they thought we were gonna post a winning record and make the playoffs this year is either lying or delusional. This is a second year of a rebuild and most people had us pegged at 4-6 wins. In the larger context this is not really a disappointing season at all, it only is now because we were spoiled with a 5-2 start. That also could have easily been a 3-4 or 2-5 start without a few lucky breaks. We have been decimated with injuries, but we've shown much improvement and that we are not a bad team at all, in fact one that could be a serious contender in the near future - we just have to play more consistent down the stretch. I admit we looked awful during the Jets to Dolphins three game span. Other then those our losses were by 3, 3, and 4, on the road against good teams. So yes, apart from a baffling stretch of horrid playing, we are on the right path. There is no doubt were much improved from a team who started 0-8 last year.
  18. Those are all very winnable games but this is the Bills were talking here, so we'll probably lose a few close ones. If only we'd beaten the Jets we'd be in a solid position, but as it is we lose out in the tiebreaker to several teams who best case scenario we end up with the same record. It would take a miracle for us to get in.
  19. I actually thought our D was completely two-faced yesterday. We finally got off the field on some possessions and forced some 3 and outs, and we didn't get beat down early like the two prior games. However while I felt our pass D did better, the rush D seemed to falter. Their first TD drive was almost all rushing and I was a bit surprised at how they didn't stuck with it really. The TD passes by Sanchez however were gimmes though thanks to blown coverage, and the blitz on 3rd and 11 cost us dearly. Overall I'd say some improvements were seen but were just not consistent, especially when we need them most. Our D won us 1 game this year, the one against Philly. That's just so much pressure on our QB to come out and score 30+ points each game which just isn't realistic.
  20. Stevie just needs to mature a lot, and remain focused on those final drives. That drop across the middle was a perfect throw and it's just not acceptable to drop that. We had a ton of stupid penalties that really added up in the end. Stevies dance played a huge role in costing us that 7 before the half. Then again Rayners kick was the icing on the cake. I don't care what anyone says, Fitz played a great game today. He put us in position to win it several times and was thwarted by horrible defense and a dropped ball. A few weeks ago it looked like he would never have a good game against the Jets D, because like everyone kept saying ad nauseum, "they figured us out" and took away our strengths. Well Fitz did a great job in coming out today with amnesia and he lead a very efficient passing game against a top pass D, moving the ball well all game. None of his passes were even near-INTs...you could argue the Smith TD but he put it out there for Smith to make a play and it worked. Seriously though...he never hesistated throwing it in Revis direction, which to me was very impressive. On a few slant routes he threaded the ball into the smallest of spaces, and he did it well and got us 1st downs. He is a streaky player but man, when he's on he is on. I just love watching him cause when he gets into a groove he just exudes confidence. As for Spiller, he had some nice plays but overall wasn't a major factor like Freddy. I applaud Chan for never abandoning the run completely, but Spiller seemed to miss a lot of holes and run right into walls. Overall though Fitz was the reason we almost won, I just hope he can keep it up, I have no doubt we can win 3 more if we continue playing like this. I also find it pretty cool that we managed to be so productive without our best player in the game. We probably would have won with Freddy today, but we made up for his absence nicely by spreading the ball around.
  21. I agree, what Stevie did was inexcusable. He needs to mature and realize the biggest statement he can make is winning the game. Believe me, I want to win. This loss hurts because we very easily COULD have won. Let's be honest here though, looking at the pass three weeks, did anyone think we would make a game out of this?...playing a team who manhandled us the past three matchups on their home court. Almost everyone predicted another blowout but we held our own against a tough defense and scored points. The first loss to the Jets turned us into a laughing stock in their eyes...remember, "same old Bills". This time the Jets know they were lucky to squeak out the win, and we showed them we can compete with them. We showed we have a WR who can play the leagues best CB. With countless injuries and everything against us we actually showed up. I'm NOT saying we should ever accept losing. I'm just saying that if we were going to lose this game, I'm glad we fought til the end and didn't have another Dallas/Miami fiasco. That would be just too horrible to bear. At least now I feel like we got back to playing better football like earlier in the year, and we will win a few more games if we keep it up.
  22. Some of you are ridiculous. We played good football today against one of the best pass defenses in the league. You act like it was an easy win for the Jets, when one dropped ball is the difference between us winning. Is no one glad we competed? Our offense showed up and scored points. Yeah we lost but we played a damn fine game, which we haven't done in weeks. We were dead in the water but we showed we still have some life in us. If we can keep this up I'm confident we can win 3 more.
  23. Really? While this hurts, it feels a lot better then the last three weeks. Admit it...everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, thought we'd get blown out. We just showed we can still compete and still win games this year. When you think about it, were a team with almost all back-ups, going into the home of our division rival who after losing two needed to win. Were also coming off three blow-outs with pretty much no confidence. We hung tough all day. Fitz played a fantastic game against one of the toughest pass defenses in the league. Johnson had costly drops but at the same time he pretty much owned the leagues best corner. The way Fitz threaded the ball into some very tight holes today was impressive, and he spread the ball around very well. Even our D had a good game, they just choked when we needed them the most. You can't let them convert that 3rd...if they don't, we hold em to a FG and win on that last drive. Fitz and Stevie both missed on what would have been TD plays which can't happen. If we had 15 more seconds we win that game. Then again if Rayner doesn't botch that kick, we win. So yeah, it woulda been the sweetest win, and we coulda had it. Nonetheless, I have more optimism then I have had in weeks, which is something.
  24. Our only hope is that the Jets consider us pushovers and an easy win after our last meeting, and they don't fully prepare and we catch them off guard. Even then, we need a few lucky turnovers that put us in prime scoring position, along with Sanchez having a bad game and we get to him on the pass rush. That - and if somehow Spiller shows up to play - is our only real chance of making a game out of this. My concern (apart from the obvious, how much we suck lately) is that they're coming off two losses and playing at home. They always seem to have those ugly stretches then bounce back big. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.
  25. Yep, it's just so typical of the Bills. I love this team so much and could never stop rooting for them, but man, sometimes it's just like why bother. It's just constant heartbreak and disappointment. As a 12 year old, the Music City Miracle was possibly the most devastating sports related thing I'd ever seen, and it probably still is. This year is just another in a long, long list of let downs. For some reason it hurts more then usual though, probably because I felt we actually had a good team this year. Honestly I expected to lose to the Jets, but the two following disasters seem almost too ridiculous to be real. To play so well then get just blown away by two teams who have played very average this season is just like a sick joke. It's gotten so bad I hardly remember the glory of the first 7 weeks. I mean, even truly bad teams have competed against the teams we lost to. I just don't get it.
