  1. Yeah, after the game everyone has the answers. From reading this board you'd think that half of the people on here could have coached this team to victory. Laughable, really. I don't buy that we can't matchup with the teams who beat us. We've beaten teams who on paper should seemingly win easily. I'd wager that if we played the Bengals again we would beat them. The Giants have one of the best records in the league and are thus far dominating their division. We played hand in hand with them fine, and our loss largely came down to a misjudged pass down the sideline. It seemed like our D was gonna have us down a lot, but after the FG block we came back with a nice long drive to tie it up. This was the first game that we flat out lost big (and even this was only 16 points), but I think it was mostly an unusually bad day for us and for some reason being too timid to play the game with guts, perhaps over-thinking it. I absolutely know that we can hang with the Jets, they're not exactly an all-around elite team. They just shine in a few areas, and so do we.
  2. At this point pretty much every game is the biggest of the year. Last week was, this week, next week, etc. I think we can agree if we want to make the playoffs - especially given our division, and the conference - we gotta win the games.
  3. Look around the league, we could be doing a whole lot worse then Fitz. He's played mostly pretty good, definitely enough so to win most of our games. We have such an awful defense...with a good one we could be 1-2 wins better then we are right now. He's not an "ace" QB, and very likely not a long term answer, but if he continues to play at this level (minus the Jets game of course) this team can win and be competitive until the longterm guy arrives. I'd even wager he's the second best QB in our division. The Jets winning has little to do with Sanchez...imagine if the Bills had their D?
  4. I think people forget that last year we were a few short breaks from being much better then our record. The Chiefs and Steelers game were ours to win and we lost due to a dropped ball and last second timeout. We also barely lost to the Bears, Dolphins, Ravens, and Pats. We gave a lot of good teams trouble and with some of the breaks we could have been 8-8 or better. Good teams put themselves in position to get breaks, and capitalize on them when they do get them. And none of our breaks were as lucky and random as say, Rivers fumble against the Chiefs. Most of our breaks are from making plays on errant balls. I mean, remember the Jets beat both the Cowboys and Chargers on huge breaks they got from mistakes by the opposing QB like that endzone throw by Rivers where the ball popped up and was picked. By your logic they should be a 3-5 team.
  5. You can always go to the game. Obvious your limited to seeing only a few each year but if your he'll-bent on seeing it all, it's pretty much the only option. People are right though, it would only be fuel to the fire and criticisms would reach a new level.
  6. I love how everyone here seems to act like they're a better coach then Gailey. These people seem convinced if they were calling the plays we would win, and it's laughable. Hindsight is 20/20 isn't it? The Jets beat us good but in reality a few plays go different and it could have easily been a close game. You guys say they figured out Jackson but did they? He had over 80 yards rushing and woulda been much more if they stuck with the run , but they didn't. As for the Jets, mock all they want, just further showing they have no class. I'm all for celebrating but have a little respect man. I hate the Pats but a true elite player like Brady would never resort to that. It's just tacky. And I'll say it again, the Jets were better than us on Sunday but they need a reality check. Did they forget they lost three in a row and players were openly complaining and criticizing their own team? Have they forgotten we beat two teams they couldn't? They can mock all they want but they're not that great of a team, and they'll be losing and bitching again in no time.
  7. Great post, I agree with pretty much all you said. It seems like people were expecting to go undefeated or something...every time we lose it's all doom and gloom, and the whole to organization gets questioned. Losses are inevitable, as are a few clunky games...it happens to every team in the league. We got beat today by the Jets (with some assistance from us), and we never really showed up offensively until the end of the game where it was too late. That urgency was desperately needed from the start of the game, but it just wasn't there. We played a poor game and we will hopefully learn from it. Still though, the turn around from being 0-8 in the first half of last season to being 5-3 right now is great, and we've shown a lot of unexpected promise. This year was written off by everyone as a mediocre re-building year, so this is like an unexpected gift...yet people act like this is a given and we should be winning every game with non-stop excellence. That is just not realistic at all. I also stand by Fitz as I believe he can keep us competitive in this league for a few years until we get a young, long-term ace QB. He had an ugly game yesterday but apart from that he's been a top 10 QB. His completion % has been very good, has been great in the red zone, thrown us a bunch TDs, and along with the O-line done a great job of minimizing sacks. Let's nit forget Fitzy was Septembers AFC player of the month. Think about that...a BILLS QB getting that honor. When was the last time that happened?
  8. How do you figure this? Are you in the Bills locker rooms and practices? The team obviously had a deep respect for Fitz as their leader and they've developed a great comradery. He also rallied the Bills to two thrilling victories down 18 and 21 points - the first team to EVER do that back to back. He's had a few lousy games but other then that he's easily played as a top 10 QB this year. I have no doubt he and the gang can rally and get it together, we just played a really lousy game...it happens. The way I see it though is you can give speeches and pep talks and guarantees all you want, none of it matters unless it shows on the field. The Jets are the perfect example, constantly talking, guaranteeing rings, yet not producing. Anyone can say words, it's how you act on them. And as far as that quote goes, that player sounds like a typical Jet. Yeah they pounded us, but they still have the same record we do and have lost to two teams we beat. There's a lot of football to play and anything can happen, and apart from yesterday we've easily looked like the better team. Plus one positive aspect is we didn't give up the insane number of rush yards to them like the last 4. Also a few plays go differently it's a much closer game. If Pace had any common sense he would quit making big predictions based on one game.
  9. In regards to this game, the Jets were the better team today. However, in terms of the season thus far I don't know if I'd say they are better, and if so, only little bit. OK, sure, they have an excellent secondary which at their best can pretty much shut down anyone. They had an extra week to prepare for us and they took away our strengths, and exploited out weaknesses. On the other token, their run defense has in fact given up more yards then we have and are ranked lower. Even on an off day Jackson had 82 rush yards, nothing to sneer about. The Jets lost three straight and were playing poor football. They came back and beat the hapless Dolphins and struggling Chargers, only really winning the latter on a very lucky bounce. Heck, their win over Dallas pretty much came down to bad mistakes by Romo. Two of their losses came against teams the Bills beat, so we can clearly hold our own against solid AFC teams. I'm not taking away what the Jets did to us, cause they did romp us. I believe they were having one of their better games, and we were having one of our worst. This happens to every team in the league. Just last week, the Rams upset the Saints, and today the Chiefs got dominated by the Dolphins. The teams that lost those games ARE better, they just weren't on that particular day. Overall though our offense has been much more productive then theirs, and more balanced. So yeah, I think that despite today, the Bills can matchup against the Jets again and actually produce. Maybe I'm wrong and Rex just has our card and will continue to destroy us. I like to think not though, because most of the Jets points were the result of a few untimely turnovers and defensive penalties. Also sketchy 4th down playcalling hurt us. It was a poor, sloppy play all around at a time when we needed our A game. But hey like I said, this happens to everyone including the Jets earlier this season. Finally, I just want to put things in perspective here. We were a 4-12 team last year, and the Jets - for the second consecutive year - were in the AFC championship game. We are currently in year two of a re-build and we're not gonna go from zero to hero just like that. The Bills are doing far better them expected and to even be in the playoff hunt, yet alone in a first place tie in a brutal division, is remarkable and exceeding expectations. People seem to act like because we've had some success we should win every game and if not it's a bust. I love and root for the Bills hardcore but that mindset is just moronic,
  10. Yeah our D played pretty bad, there really is no silver lining there. A few big mistakes - Sanchez pick in the redzone, fumble in Bills territory, and missed field goal - are really the only reason it wasn't like 20-0 at the half. Sanchez seemed to mostly complete passes with ease and wore the Bills down with long, long drives. On the same token, two PI's in the endzone, missed 4th and shorts, and Jacksons fumble allowed the Jets to really capitalize and run away with the game. Whatever the case, I have a good feeling they'll bounce back fairly well. This Jets game just felt like it was be one that knocked us back a bit, and like the last two losses we bounced back well, and I have faith we can do the same against Dallas.
  11. I don't know why but I had a pretty bad feeling about this game all week, and my doubts are being realized. Thankfully were only down three cause it could have easily been 20-0. There's still another half but if we don't adjust big-time it will be a long, painful one.
  12. Yeah I've seen Fitz nail a bunch of tight-window throws this year, many of which were tougher intermediate length throws of 15-20 yards. He's also had a couple real nice longer throws (like against the Pats) of like 40-50 yards. The fact is that despite everyone moaning about his inaccuracy, he's got one of the better completion percentages in the league. Yeah he throws a couple ducks each game but who doesn't? Every QB we've played has missed a handful of balls, and many of the QBs people rank above Fitz have more incompletions week in and week out. I just don't get how anyone could be disappointed with Fitz this year. He's come out and played far beyond everybody's expectations, and it's not like there's a better option were not taking. We haven't had a real solid QB/ team leader for YEARS, and when we finally get one people want more. Just ridiculous...who would have ever thought the QB for the Bills would be named AFC offensive player of the month for September. It's like a dream come true!
