  1. I would take the Broncos 2 - 5 Super Bowl record in a heart beat over our Bills 0 - 4 record. Hell I would be happy with a 1 - 6 record. At least we would experience what it is like to have ONE.
  2. A breath of fresh air, pun intended, to see an athlete own up and just admit he made a mistake. Too many cases where they claim: "I don't know how that got there?" " I was set up!!" "The cops were out to get me cuz I be making so much money." "I smoked so much of the **** I thought I was in Colorado and it was no big deal." He made I very stupid decision to begin with, at least he didn't follow it up with more stupidity.
  3. Everyone who is taking the position that marijuana is legal in some states, not enforced in others, no crime no foul, is missing the point. The NFL prohibits the use of it, all the players know that, and those that choose to break this rule, are held accountable. This is no different than Johnny football signing autographs for money. This is not a crime, but the NCAA prohibits it, anyone who breaks the rule is subject to suspension. Until the rules change players are bound by them. Case closed.
  4. I'm thinking that the need for TEs changed somewhat after this draft. With the "potential" talent that we have at WR after this draft we no longer need a dynamic TE. We need TEs that can block and I think we already have them on the roster.
  5. What is it they say about a blind squirl, or maybe it's what they say about a broken clock? No really.......good call.
  6. I recall that another Bills "Rookie" WR in the past named Eric Moulds also had a problem with dropped passes. He turned out alright when given a chance. Let's also not forget that our TOP wr Stevie has dropped a few in his time. Point is that it is way too early to paint TJ out as having stone hands. Lets see what happens this year and see if this continues before we even consider passing final judgement.
  7. One of the players that stands to benefit the most, "if", EJ performs up to the level of what everyone hopes is TJ Graham. As many of you have pointed out already TJ's speed and deep threat ability was almost completely wasted last year because Fitz could not throw the deep ball. With the arm EJ possesses TJ has a chance to really produce. At the very least, when EJ is behind center defenses will have too respect the deep threat capability. This could also open things up that much more for SJ underneath. A lot of possibilities are there now that were not there the past few years.
  8. And what if Manziel has a noticeable drop off this year. He does show some signs of having a big head already and he may fall victim to his own self. Than what? Goes back to coaching and the proper utilization of talent. Put Manziel, at his best, with last years coaching and they would have him running the wildcat. I'm putting my hope in Marrone and his staff, not in the hopes we are bad enough for Manziel. For all we know someone like Manziel sees he is likely to be drafted by the Bills and he decides to pull a Luck, and chooses to stay another year in college instead. Or worse, we stink so bad next year that we do draft Manziel and turns out to be another Todd Marinovich, ouch!
  9. How do you, or anyone know, who is interested and who is not? Did anyone, including, the so called media insiders report that Lawson was talking to the Bills? It seemed to come out of no where when it was announced that he signed today. Maybe, just maybe, the Bills are actually working on adding other players, and we just have not heard about them either. If you remember, last year the Bills shocked the NFL community when everyone learned that Mario was already in town and the Bills had taken him hostage. We can all probably find things to be critical about with the front office, but one thing you have admire is they seem to know how to keep a secret.
  10. For all you doom and gloomers who have already decided that the Bills are a lost cause I want to remind you that last year at this time most people here were talking possible playoffs. Optimism was sky high with the potential top 5 defense led by Mario, K. Williams, Darius, and Anderson. Yeah our secondary was young and questionable but with a dominant dline they would be asked to do less. Than along came Wanstadt who was clueless in how to put together a defensive gameplan to utilize the talent he had available and everything fell apart. On offense the Bills had two of the best RB tandems in the league, a solid, to very good Oline who could open holes for Spiller and Jackson but than along comes Gailey who refuses to use them. Instead he trys to force Fitzpatrick into being Tom Brady and the offense becomes a mess. People, as far as the players are concerned, as a whole, this same team that gave everyone hope last year, is still intact. The only player we have lost is Levitre, a guard, which is probably the easiest position on the field to replace. The rest of the players who are gone, Barnett, Morrison, Kelsey, Jones, Wilson, Merriman, "Fitzpatrick", were not producing much, if at all. Again, they can all be replaced, and all those positions upgraded by players still available in FA, or even players already on the roster. The key to the Bills turning things around this year is the new coaching staff. Can or will Marrone and his young OC put together an effective offensive package which takes advantage of the strengths the Bills already have, Spiller, Johnson, an solid OL. Can or will Petine put together an aggressive, adjusting defensive package that takes advantage of the talent that is already in place. If anything, last year proved, you can add a bunch of talented players to your team, but if the coaching staff is inferior, it simply does not matter. If Marrone and his staff prove to finally be top notch, it will reflect in how the players produce on the field. If they turn out to be like the past few coaching staffs it won't matter what players we add or lose this year, the Bills will continue to flounder. Thats why I say the key FA additions this year are Marrone and his staff. Here's hoping they have the right stuff. Go Bills!!
  11. In order for that "offense" to win a championship they must first get on the field to score points. Our defense the past few years simply could not get off the field and give the offense a chance. Also when the offense is always playing from behind they are forced to get away from their set offensive schemes and must play a desperate style of catch up. Which eventually leads to Fitzsism, ( a disorder common among some QBs, normally wearing jerseys with the word Bills sewn on them, resulting in forced, dumb, backbreaking mistakes). Face it, if we are going to have a young rookie QB under center this year, or at least very soon, we have to have a defense that dictates the flow of the game, rather than rely on an inexperienced rookie to bail out a terrible defense.
  12. With the latest news that Georgia LB Jarvis Jones has been given a clean bill of health, if he slips to #8 with the Bills on the clock, do the Bills take him? I say a resounding yes!! Immediate impact player on defense in an area of greatest need. Take our QB in the second or try to move back into the 1st rd however we can and go after the QB.
  13. With the Bills letting go both Jones and now Nelson I've got yo believe they have their sites set on a couple of significant FA WRs, hoping to land at least one of them. I can't imagine drafting another early round WR and hoping he will be ready to contribute anytime soon. TJ Graham looked lost most of the year, as should be expected of any rookie wr, so why would they want to go through that process once again this year. The Bills really need to have at least one more experienced WR on the roster to fill the #2 wr role "this year".
  14. Nice to see the topic has grown some legs but the primary focus seems to have centered around Gailey's blind allegence to Piczpatrick. Although I initially listed it as Exhibit B, I think Gailey's greatest error this season was his complete miss use of Spiller. Spiller has shown consistently this year that he potentially is the most dynamic and dangerous RB in the entire league. Yet Gailey stubbornly stuck with his decision to share the load between Spiller and Jackson. I don't believe what so ever that Spiller is a fluke. He could be the leading rusher in the league and an MVP candidate if he had been used properly. Don't get me wrong I am a HUGE fan of F Jackson, but Spiller has shown a clear separation in his talent level from that of Jackson's. Gailey says he is sticking with Fitz in a meaningless game because he gives the Bills the best chance to win. Then why the hell didn't he decide to use Spiller to his max during the season when Spiller gave the Bills the best chance to win games that really mattered. UnBillievable!!!
  15. Wow!! My response is # 262, and the entire thread is based upon a so called rumor. Nothing in the previous 261 replies added any substance. Sure would be nice someday to be talking about who the Bills would be playing in the first round of the playoffs. O those were days!
  16. When I read a report that Gailey's response to questions yesterday about whether he would give Thigpen or Jackson a chance this Sunday was that he was sticking with Fitz "because He (Fitz) gives us the best chance to win", I about lost it. This to me sums up the primary flaw (and it's a BIG one) with Gailey and the entire coaching staff. They are just too damn stubborn, or prideful, to admit they could be wrong, and are unwilling to adjust or change their ways. Exhibit A - Fitz was proclaimed, by Gailey and Nix, last year and he is their only option. Hence no drafting of anyone who could compete for the position. Trading for TJ and NEVER even dressing him out. It is obvious that TJ was brought in ONLY as an emergency contingency plan X if their man, Fitz, got hurt. Exhibit B - Sticking with the platooning of Spiller and Jackson even after it was SOOOO obvious to everyone, except Gailey, that Spiller should have been the go to guy. Gailey made the decision during preseason and he wasn't going to change, regardless. Exhibit C - Wannstadt's defensive game plan. Rush four, rush four, rush four, ......... Exhibit D - (Probably the most depressing) Nix stating he would prefer to maintain the status quo in order to maintain continuity. In other words, let's just keep losing until we get it right. I've been a diehard Bills fan for the past 40+ years and I can't remember a more discouraging time to be a fan of this team. Changes needed to be made during the season, and most diffinently after this season so mercifully comes to an end this weekend. They were not made during the season and they are likely not going to happen after the season. "Pride cometh before the fall." I think we have witnessed enough pride, let's just hope the fall comes very soon.
  17. Let me begin my stating the obvious: this thread falls into the category of misery loves company. But watching the Falcons and Lions play tonight, and watching the Lions continue to fall apart this year, after fooling so many last year into thinking they had "finally" turned things around, I couldn't help but think that being a Lions fan has got to be EVEN worse than being a Bills fan. Look at the comparable records over the last 10 years. Lions Record / Bills Record 2012 - 4-11 2012 - 5-10 (anticipate loss tomorrow) 2011 - 10-6 2011 - 6-10 2010 - 6-10 2010 - 4-12 2009 - 2 - 14 2009 - 6 - 10 2008 - 0 - 16 2008 - 7 - 9 2007 - 7 - 9 2007 - 7 - 9 2006 - 3 - 13 2006 - 7 - 9 2005 - 5 - 11 2005 - 5 - 11 2004 - 6 - 10 2004 - 9 - 7 (Man that year seems so golden in retrospect) 2003 - 5 -11 2003 - 6 - 10 2002 - 3 -13 2002 - 8 - 8 Two main things to point out here. First - Do ya realize the Bills have 18 more wins over that time span. Second - It would really suck to see the Bills have a break out year next year, make the playoffs, than turn around and return to the same losing team they were before. As a fan who suffers through years of losing seasons, you long to see your team finally turn it around and have at least a few consecutive winning seasons. Bonus point #3. Any football fan knows this anyway, the Lions are one of just a handful of teams who have never played in Super Bowl. Yeah, I know it still sucks to be a Bills fan, but at least I'm not alone....and it could be worse.
  18. I sure hope so!! I've been a die hard Bills fan my entire life, which goes back to the AFL days. I was in high school when OJ was smashing NFL records. But for the first time ever, this season's fiasco has planted the seed that I might need to look else where. Now before ripping me apart, hear me out. I've been away from Buffalo since 1976 when I enlisted into the Air Force. I retired from active duty in 2000 and settled down in Virginia, where I been living the past 13 years. Everyone who knows me, knows that I am and have ALWAYS been a big Bills fan, Every year, like almost all Bills fans, I start the new season off with dreams of the Bills shocking the league and proving all the nay sayers wrong. I anticipate that this year will be the year that the draft class will have all of the early picks perform as expected, and 1 or 2 late picks will surprise the entire league. I think that all of the FA aquisitions will at least play to the ability of what brought them here, maybe even outperform. In short, every year I expect to be "The Year." And every year, at least for the entire time I have lived in Virginia, the Bills have greatly dissappointed. So here I sit at the end of another dissappointing year, to say the least, and I find myself thinking the unimaginable. (Me thinking: "ya know, RGIII sure seems like an incredibly gifted, and exciting young QB. "He also seems to be a great guy with a very humble and down to earth attitude." "Why not just allow myself to follow another team other than just the Bills?" "Hell, I have lived less than 3 hours away from DC for the past 13 years, and don't see myself moving anytime soon." "None of my friends back home and fellow Bills fans need to ever know. I could just keep it as my very big secret!" But than, who knows, the Bills could sign Phillip Rivers, and Dwanye Bowe this off season. They could draft Teo and a couple of other stud LBs. Chan Gailey could actually be shown the door, and the new coach could actually be a great coach, who knows how to hire great assistants. Maybe next year will REALLY be the year. Hope so, because, RGIII sure looks good up there in DC.
  19. Sorry, no excitment here. We could have Jerry Rice (in his prime), Andre Reed (in his prime) and Calvin Johnson (now), lined up as our 3 wide outs, but until the Bills do something about a serious QB issue it just doesn't matter.
  20. The question should be, do we have the worst ownership situation in the league? Answer: by far!! I feel Wilson has been an overall decent owner thru the years. But as of today he is 94 years old, with what appears like absolutely nothing in place to bring stability to the organization when he passes away. The age issue has to have had an impact on his awareness, and concern, of what has been going on with the team, at least for the past few years. His age, and lack of transition plans when he is no longer around, has probably severely limited the possible HC and GM candidates over the past 10 years. What highly qualified HC or GM would want to step into this mess. It is sad to say this but the Bills organization will remain a mess until whatever new ownership is in place after Wilson is longer around. My only hope is that new owner not take our Bills somewhere else.
  21. What the hell are you saying. I grew up in Buffalo, have lived in Virginia Beach, VA for the past 13 years. Where I am at now, this is middle as it gets. But Myrtle Beach and Charlotte are southern, case closed. I stilll love Buffalo, my family is mostly still there, I'll be visiting in a few weeks. I will ALWAYS be an avid diehard Bills fan, however, one part of Reed's statement is indeed fact. People in the south are by and large much more friendly than most Buffaloians. The Bills and the Sabres are the glue that binds. If it were not for those teams most people in Buffalo would hardly talk to one another.
  22. So you are out of school for the summer vacation. What a dick!
  23. After his very disappointing pro day I would not be surprised at all if he slips to a late 1st rd and quite possibly 2nd rd pick. Bills could either trade back get him late rd 1 or have him slip to them in rd 2. I'd be more for taking him rd 2 if still available.
  24. As long as they are going to draft in 2nd or 3rd round. He could be one of those players that slip far past where they are projected.
  25. If Tebow and the Jets work out it will be a "miracle".
