Yes they have to make the 53 then go to IR, so guys like Jones, Breida on one year deals maybe cut and signed in order to keep these guys safe.

The new rules is any one can come back after missing only 3 games, So lets say we stash Sweeney. He is ready to go after 3-4 weeks. We have a guy go down, we can take him off IR. The rule used to be you have only certain guys designated to return also at one time it was like only after 7-8 weeks. Forgot about Doyle, He is a monster in size and just hasn't been healthy yet. As a draft pick he may be a good candidate and stay there for all or majority of the season.

After three weeks, the player becomes eligible to return to practice. Once he returns to practice, the team has 21 days to place him back on the active roster. Previously, a team had only two IR-return designations it could use in a season and a player was required to miss a minimum of eight weeks. Only players on the 53-player roster after Sept. 1 are eligible to be designated for return from IR or the non-football injury list.

Honestly I would want out if I was him, he is going to have to take a 1-2 year prove it deal to get any big money. Going to a pass first and often would benefit him. He could be a solid #2 for some teams.

He could of lost weight and still have shortness of breath, big dude like that muscle and mass are a must. Also if he lost stamina they could be concerned about being in game shape without getting hurt.

Give Bryant, Obada, Stevenson playing time against the 2's next week I would like to see how they play against some talent. Hard to Gauge them against lions scrubs in the 2nd half.
