Again, he might become good, but last season did not serve as an indicator that it's definitely coming. Don't know who Schopp is. The 30th ranked QB is a positive indicator? I don't know anyone involved with analytics who said Allen looked good based on the numbers. If you know of one I would be happy to read their work.

Analysts only change their opinions after the mathematical analysis confirms that they should. Whether you follow them in thought or not, you know that's what they do. If you disagree with an opinion of an analyst, you can be right, but you'll be wrong more often than right. If the above wasn't true, every team wouldn't always be beefing up their analytics department. That's simply how player evaluation is done, now. It is impossible for a QB to make it to the NFL without an outstanding work ethic.

This is what you are using to argue Allen was a good passer last year? Allen compared to no one in the NFL was Elway.

Here's your logic: Elway greatly improved during his career, so Allen will, too. The very basics of analytics and common sense points out that that makes no sense. For every Elway, there are 10 other QBs each season that begin their career poorly who don't get any better. What other than your beliefs tell you that Allen will follow a similar arc to Elway?

Looked like Elway in any way? Really, that is absolutely comical. We don't know what will happen next season, but anyone who saw Allen as anything better than a terrible passer last year is cloudy in thought.

If you re-read what I wrote I said if he shows no evidence of improvement next season..... If he plays like he did in his first season, his future is most probably dim.

Really didn't want Allen, and other than his running ability, he played like I expected he would, which wasn't scintillating. This season will determine if he is on an arc towards a good career or whether he's in over his head. Beane better hope it's the former or he will be on a much shorter leash.

Name all of the GMs since the NFL became a passing league who have been considered great without a stellar QB, and the reverse. Whether any of us think it's a fair way to evaluate a GM, that is almost always how it plays out. I'm surprised anyone wouldn't believe that. If Josh Allen becomes a legit stud at QB, almost everyone here will think Beane has done a good job. If Allen fails, most people here will want Beane gone. Again, it may or may not be fair, but it's reality.

If you don't think this is how it will play out, then perception history of every franchise must be wrong.
