  1. Vontae Davis begs to differ with this assessment. ? Seriously, depends on the criteria used. If the criteria is building a competitive roster and winning football games, he shouldn't even be in the conversation. But if the criteria is to build a team-oriented culture, he is right in there. He just needs to find a way to translate "team" culture into "winning" culture. A better roster will help with that. If his "Process" brings us back to the playoffs next year, he will be a media darling. If we get loaded with draft picks and FAs and will still suck, he will probably be gone.
  2. They could have kept McCarron. He was fine. In truth, NP outplayed AJM in the preseason, so starting NP was not illogical. But getting rid of AJM was foolish. It left no options if NP repeated last year and Allen wasn't ready. Which is exactly what happened. That said, looks like they finally found a good one so lets ride this for a while.
  3. I, too, could be a successful NFL quarterback, if I never had to play a down.
  4. no NFL quarterback wants to be a "career backup" or "the best preseason player". Give me a break.
  5. Whether Josh has a higher ceiling than Cam is irrelevant. There are two relevant questions here: 1. Is JA's ceiling higher than Rosen? That was the choice in the draft. People seem to forget Darnold and Mayfield were already gone. 2. Is JA's ceiling higher than other QBs available in the 2019 draft when we pick in the top 5? I guess you could add Mahomes in there, but Beane wasn't even here yet, and we don't know how much say McD had in that draft. And anyway, 10 other teams passed on Mahomes, including the Bears at #2 who took Trubisky as their franchise QB, and the Titans, who moved UP to take Corey Davis but left Mahomes on the table.
  6. this would be refreshing and confidence-building for the fans, if not the team.
  7. it wouldn't matter. NP was not the only problem today. he played as well as Anderson.
  8. I get the high draft picks, but how does this get us "cheap, elite talent"?
  9. Im sure McBeane pitched the 3-year rebuild plan to Pegs prior to the draft. Im sure they knew this would be a down year, the year you tear it all down to build back up. That said, Im also sure McD thought a "down year" would be something approaching 8-8, based on his overachieving in 2017. So the question is, do Pegs feel led on? Only they know.
  10. to be fair to McD, 12 other teams also passed on Mahomes … including Bears, who took Trubisky.
  11. put down the margaritas wait scratch that … as you were
  12. NOW we go for the FG? But turned our nose up at the half? Makes no sense.
  13. IN Nate's defense, according to WGR he looked at the sideline and made a kicking motion, as if to ask: sure you don't want to kick a field goal here? Hush $ is literally the best offensive player on the team, I would have taken the 3 points going into the locker room. Not going to win with FGs, but then again, we're not going to win.
  14. my wife just fell asleep on the couch lol
  15. at least Im not spending $500 on ST this year … watching via this board and WGR.
  16. anyone in particular? or the whole bunch at once?
