  1. glad to see Lamar came off the guarantees, because really, once that deal is signed he gets paid either way unless they cut him or he agrees to take less in a restructure Only way they straight up cut him is if his career totally implodes, which I do not see happening. Thus, he's getting all that $$ whether it's guaranteed or not.
  2. the way these draft day rumors seem to go Hopkins will re-sign with Arizona for 7 years, 200 million.
  3. Getting Hopkins would be amazing! Diggs + Hopkins + Playoff Gabe?!
  4. I think a lot of it is just the enormous desire that Brady had to keep playing. Most have had their fill by age 40 but it was like Brady couldn't imagine doing anything else with his life. Peyton Manning would have kept playing until he was 45 also but his neck nerve issue made it impossible
  5. I've listened to a ton of fairly length Rodgers "interviews" between Pat McAfee and Aubrey Marcus. I just find the guy interesting, not that I agree with everything he says. I've never heard him talk before about playing "into his 40's" like he did yesterday. Given that, Rodgers will play 2-3 years in NY, IMO He probably gave some sort of assurance to the Jets that he would play at least 2 seasons. People keep saying he's 40. He's not. He JUST turned 39 on December 2. So, he'll be 39 (2023) for most of this season, and 40 most of next season (2024). All the drama in Green Bay probably affected his desire to play a bit.
  6. so it's become clear that Rex's hear and soul was always with the Jets. It would be like if one of us was HC of the Bills after a lifetime of working towards it, did the best we could, and after a handful of years got fired and immediately became the HC of the Patriots or Dolphins a few weeks later.
  7. it makes the Jets games a lot more interesting, and generally makes for a better story, so I'm excited for it Either way, to be the best you've got to beat the best, and also, either way you play 2-3 playoffs games to get to the Super Bowl. There won't be cupcakes, but you also don't have to play every good team back to back to get there. In fact, if the Bills can get the #1 seed finally then it's a bye week, play the lowest seed left and suddenly you're in the AFC Title game at home.
  8. basically it's a 2nd in 2023 and a 1st in 2024 with some window dressing tossed in IMO Rodgers made some sort of commitment behind the scenes that he would play 2 years. It'll come out I'll bet (and be denied by all)
  9. honestly I never thought of Craig...
  10. As a do it all type of RB... I loved Barry Sanders too but Thurman was just as much part of the passing game as the running game
  11. Thurman Thomas was the greatest RB of all time, IMO and ahead of his time. If he played in today's game he would be unstoppable. He basically was anyways. McCoy was a very good to maybe great RB. That's the difference.
  12. you guys are just trying to torture Mike Florio at this point.. it's just mean I was worried for the poor guy when Pegula bought the Bills Ironically, I don't think it's so much that he wants Buffalo to lose the team as it is the "story" and all his articles he could write about how awful the NFL is and all the clicks he could get from furious Bills fans
  13. Every team does not need a black uniform! Cardinals colors are red and white. Same with SF: red and gold and white.
  14. From what I understand, estate taxes can be between 20% and 40% of the value of the estate, so in order for the children to own the team they would need to be able to pay a tax of well over $1 billion in cash. That's the biggest issue with the team remaining in the family sometime hopefully long, long into the future.
  15. score at least 1 point more than the Lions. Imagine that SB!
  16. IF you could get assurances from Rodgers that he would play at least 2 seasons, a 2023 2nd and a 2024 1st isn't a bad deal. As quirky as he is, Rodgers is a top 3-5 QB in the NFL still, especially when he has actual WR to throw to. On that Jets team he would be dangerous. You figure the 2024 1st would be in the high 20's, low 30's if you're the Jets. That's less of a big deal, and not that far away from their 2023 2nd rounder. If healthy, Rodgers gets you deep into the playoffs for 2 years and makes the Jets a marquee attraction. One high 2nd and a low future first is not a huge price tag for that.
  17. and the Packers... 2 teams with slightly different issues. Jets are at least just incompetent. Packers purposely do it to themselves because there is no owner to step in and squash the nonsense.
  18. IMO something weird is going on with Rodgers and the trade. Maybe he is still "undecided" behind the scenes, OR the Jets have asked for a 2 year commitment and he is still pondering that, which is holding things up. At this point it shouldn't be that hard. If the trade happens AFTER the 2023 draft then one would imagine the Jets picks would be lower in each round. Best thing for both sides is a straight up trade: picks for player. Cash and carry. Done. None of this convoluted, conditional stuff that could be all over the board.
  19. Now we're talking!
  20. Rodgers on SF would be fun to watch, plus it doesn't make a division rival better. I would be shocked if Green Bay traded him there so he could win another MVP or two and get all the way to the NFC Title Game twice.
  21. they just don't build them like they used to! kind of amazing that the Roman Colosseum still stands yet our billion dollar stadiums are junk after 30 years
  22. This is the first time I've heard of any concerns regarding habits/training. If sleep habits and nutrition are concerns now then either that gets fixed or once he gets a few years older his body will just fall apart due to his demanding (on the body) style of play. You can get away with stuff when you're younger that you can't once you add a few years. Brady haunted us for as long as he did precisely because of that type of stuff, taken to an insane level of dedication and commitment. Even he started off not being anywhere near as disciplined though, and he's talked about that. So Lamar can always start the avocado smoothies and yoga but he's really costing himself here.
  23. can you imagine how good Thurman Thomas in his prime would be in today's game? The guy lined up at WR as a RB before it was cool
  24. I love a big disruptive DT! This year hopefully Phillips doesn't injure himself diving at a QB when the game is already over anyway. Big man hustles and that's how he got hurt twice this season. Blew a tire running along with a turnover and then dove at (I think) Mac Jones and busted his shoulder after chasing him for like 140 yards yards back and forth around the field. NOW we need to draft a DT of at least the same size to be the 1T and line those guys up in the middle!
  25. LOL at this idea. HOWEVER the McDermott playoff record is going to become a bigger and bigger national story if he doesn't get the team over the hump. It's what happens when you have a superstar QB but can't get to the big dance. Only Lefleur in GB seems immune to that.
