Bills sign Latavius Murray to a one-year deal
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Between Murray, Knox, Kincaid, Allen, and Harris - they seem to understand the value of that. We won't run it this much in every game, but you can still hit people on offense in the pass game with some of these guys. -
Josh Allen made some history with his 3 TDs

Their defensive line tends to give us problems. They blow up our running plays periodically which puts us off schedule. They sit in 2 deep zone and force you to take underneath timing throws, and allen was struggling with the chaos in front of him all game long. Couldn't get into a rhythm for the entire game. Basically they line up and you SHOULD run, but we are incapable of doing it because of their defensive line. I'd like to see us try a bit more under center and play action in the 2nd meeting. Fewer draw plays and misdirection - get them committing to run fits and create some space in that 8-15 yard range behind the linebackers. -
McCargo - BUST! WE DONT KNOW WHAT WERE DOING Kyle Williams - Stud! But we wasted a 1st! We doubled down on the position with Tre out, one year removed from wallace leaving. Jackson stepped up, benford was able to contribute, and Elam has been forced to battle. Nothing is given or guaranteed on a roster this deep so he'll have to keep grinding and wait for the next opportunity.

Boo hoo. Cry me a river. You were on the freaking field before the game. You could walk into literally ANY of the suites and people would have let you sit with them. Probably could have hung out on the sideline for all i know. Instead... trash the organization that put you out there. Hopefully they figure out a better way to accomodate, but unless he had a group of like 14 people it doesn't make any sense why he wouldn't just walk around and be like "im takeo spikes"

I think we'll continue to run and play action in the area. On the failed 4th down harty slipped and i think if he hadn't he would have been the read.

I'd punt - its a 1 point game. Your goal should be a FG attempt anywhere from 40-60 yards.

He doesn't do so well when he's in 3rd and longs, playing from behind, or under pressure. They ran a ton of screens and play action to keep the defense honest for their run game. If you play your guys tight, we'll throw wide. If you play your linebackers close to the LOS, we'll attack that vacated space with play action. Then run into the favorable looks you inevitably get. There isn't a ton of escapability or improvisation, arm strength is adequate but he's not going to undress you with tight window throws. I mean... 99x out of 100 14 points is not going to get it done.

His best work came on play actions. Hit that drop and let it rip. They did a bunch of WR screens to mixed results, and i felt like he had a few batted balls.

OC is involved in play design and recognition. He isn't necessarily calling which play because reid is - he IS involved in installing the plays and formations into the playbook, the gameplan for the week, setting up the scout team for what they're expecting to see. It's also a middle management position that works directly with every position group. Bienemy was likely the more vocal coach in meetings too, so the "bad cop" calling out missed assignments, drops, mistakes, and being the one to get them coached up for better execution. With a nice players coach in reid, sometimes you need a hardo in meetings. I didn't love the game call or flow in this one - felt like they couldn't get their run game going and went to the well with weird stuff before figuring out the issues there.

Bernard, Torrence and Benford all officially starters
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think thats the thing - he was playing for milano i think more than edmunds. I'm not going to say which he's better suited for, but he definitely seems to offer more from a pass rushing perspective than edmunds ever did. Whether he can shed, and play downhill i think is going to be the big question. I'm fairly certain he's probably better in coverage than dodson. -
Could be a game where they take some shots. I have Olave and Waddle ahead of him - the real question is him or Aaron Jones in PPR and I'm probably going to go high floor with Jones. Mahomes is basically Steve Young, and Allen is more Favre. I'd say Burrow is probably Aikman in this analogy. Obviously different leagues, play styles, etc.

They do work your zones, and there aren't a lot of defensive players who can match up with him in man. They like to have him stop sort of between the Linebacker and the safety, and he's really good at picking a side to create space. Your options in zone as the SAM are to either take him, or take away the back who's probably leaking out up the sideline and let the mike move in and cover kelce. You then have the nickel or will trying to pick up some sort of other crosser. Basically they just keep stabbing you with kelce and then end up taking the other stuff if you prioritize it.

Bernard was brought in as a leader/student of the game, more than based off of his physical traits. The path to starting and success isn't always linear, it might require you to gain some size or strength, learn nuances of a new position, how to react more instinctively at a new spot, improve your tackling form, learn to shed blocks more effectively, etc. But i think play recognition, game calling, and general film study are strengths of his - and that is probably why they want him out there. -
I mean... a bit of an overstatement. Even potentially missing kelce and toney they still have... a top i dunno, 3 offensive line? Thuney and Humphrey are all-pro's inside with Trey smith who started 17 games as a rookie. Steady hand at left tackle in Donovan smith. Added a fairly big money deal to Taylor from Jacksonville. Even missing some playmakers, they still will be able to create time and space for mahomes to operate, and lanes in the run game for pacheco to put you into makeable 3rd downs. Between Moore, MVS, and Mckinnon they have weapons to attack you at all 3 levels, and if Kelce plays you have to flow defense towards him.

Interesting... i wonder if he's on a pitch count? I'm hitting him on every single snap he's out there 🙂. Honestly i think this should always be the strategy.

Interesting Buffalo News article on Dawkins

He looks big there - he used to often just look big in the middle. -
Toney's missed time in camp i think, and is up in the air for week 1. I assume Kelce doesn't play. This is likely a skyy moore, MVS deep shot game if i had to guess. Pacheco and the offensive line, and then you attack in play action.

Detroit can make this game hard, and a slog. Montgomery and Gibbs - early and often. Gay and Bolton are good linebackers, but i think the lions line can make it a rough day at the office with Jones not in there. Get some space in that 10-15 range on play action. If they have a good red zone plan i think they can absolutely win this game.

I guess? I just mean like... picking off Tyson Bagent doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things. He played in the big 12 in college, its not like he's never seen big game action before. -

There isn't much different about practice and preseason though. There isn't crowd noise, the results don't really matter. He must have been great in practice and the film room. -
Caleb Williams - unreal player (and who will get him?)
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to RobbRiddick's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, some serious regression from guys like both robinsons too. Allen robinson is in a decent spot now with johnson getting majority of targets, and pickens likely getting a lot of attention. Still think he's lost a step though. -

Gotta think Mcvay, stafford, kupp, donald can get you at least 5 wins. They won 5 last year with all 3 of those guys missing time. And starting random QBs like Mayfield and Wolford.
