  1. Yeah - especially one who is so loaded he's willing to play for half of what he's worth. His cap hit goes up to 22 next year (still probably half of what he's worth). So maybe they'll have to cut some people... Or he'll just take another pay cut. 1/8 on 3rd downs. 3rd and 1 from their territory - pass play, sack fumble. 2nd and 11 with 3:30 left.... NE has two time outs and you're up 8. eating clock and kicking gives you the best chance here. sucks that you put it on your kicker. But even if he MISSES you're in ok shape. because they have no timeouts
  2. I can't see a situation where im throwing it over the middle on 2nd and goal from the 1. Theyre stacking for a run, and they have to maintain contain on a running QB, and you have a good power back. I may not run it there as they only had 1 timeout, but i likely call play action there. Can still stop the clock and run twice if you don't get in.
  3. Throwing it OVER THE MIDDLE there... is a disaster of a call. Any pass play has to be to your tallest receiver on a corner fade. Low percentage of INT, and the clock still stops if that's what you're worrying about. That or you know... use your QBs speed and play action bootleg. He can scramble for the td, hit an open receiver for the td, or just throw it out of bounds if no ones open.
  4. Unfortunately I still see him being annoying since every other post is hidden.
  5. I think the conclusion i came to was that those guys did deflate the balls. And I just think there's no way people are messing with Tom Brady's football's without his say-so. Probably a dumb reason to assume guilt, but that's just my thought process.
  6. Not trying to get into a keep vs cut argument... but we do have some absurdly negative media. Sully? Bucky? Even the guys from rochester? They write nothing positive about the team it seems. Graham kind of does features I guess? But they're like, hung up on when some conversation occurred and whether whaley is lying. Who cares? Write an article about a player, talk about things he could improve on, but maybe also remind us why we're fans of this team. I feel like they're stuck with a loser so they do nothing but tell us they're losers. I cant remember the last time a player had a featured article where a reporter sat down and got to talk to a player. I think the last one was dunne, and all that came from it (a pretty good article) was tweets about how sammys a baby who wants more targets.
  7. 1- needs to get comfortable with a real NFL playbook 2- extra film study 3- reps year round He has to want to be truly great. Haven't had that vibe with cardale yet, maybe a new coaching staff will help encourage him to do what he needs to do to be great.
  8. Going to a friend's for the 5th annual taco bowl. Used to be a cosby sweater party... but changed for obvious reasons. He does taco's and coronas, i'll probably make some wings and bring those.
  9. Yeah - i went to Rodak's twitter though and he didn't tweet it. Since that is his like mouthpiece as he can't write a competent article... I'll take it with a grain of salt. The guy has 0 insider knowledge, and its Feb 2nd. Who knows what the roster decision will be....
  10. He occaisionally has some mechanical breakdowns. Usually its stepping into throws from the pocket, he'll just chuck it from his back foot when he senses pressure. His scrambling throws are typically pretty good though in keeping his feet under his body and such. Has a quicker release than some, can spin it. I don't think he's like.. a mechanical mess or something like that.
  11. With a rookie wage scale in place I think it may be more common now to grab other teams backups. You can sign a backup with upside - and add a player in the draft. You're then set for like 4 years with a low cap hit at QB. Build your roster elsewhere and hopefully in 4 years have your guy to extend. The problem is the bidding war because its such an important position. Brock got way overpaid, and someones going to overpay in picks and money for Garroppolo. I didn't like Brock for 70 and 30 guaranteed. He was too unproven. Same goes for Jimmy G. But a Mike Glennon/Nick Foles/AJ McCarron at a reasonable chase daniel pay grade - 3 years in the 20 millions with sub 10 guaranteed? If we drop Tyrod, that's the route I'd like to go. But I'd also want a QB in the first. Stay away from the Romo's and Jimmy's because their pay would prevent you from really doing what you're trying to do. That sets us up with 2 options at a lower total hit than Tyrod. The only problem is you're not getting a major impact player at 10 (possibly overdrafting a QB there vs. getting a top 5 talent that may have slipped) , and you may get a significant drop off at the most important position on the field.
  12. Ben's been a good QB in this era... but both super bowl wins were largely the defense... In the 2nd game they had an INT return for a TD, and a safety. In the first they had a few missed FGs, and the defense was clutch on 3rd down. So weird looking back as it'll be remembered as Ben won 2 super bowls - HOF worthy... Oh - and he can't beat brady... I'd put it as 1 - Brady 2 - P. Manning (Great numbers - 2 wins with 2 teams) 3 - Brees (His regular season numbers are ridiculous - and he put a hurting on peyton in his only win - 100+ QB rating in the playoffs) 4/5 - E. Manning (2-0 vs. brady in the super bowl - great postseason numbrers - knocked down from not having the best regular season numbers) 4/5 - Warner (Got there with 2 teams - also ridiculous regular season numbers - awesome games - only in the playoffs 5 times) 6 - Ben (2 wins - but no MVPs - Lousy playoff stats...) And i totally unintentionally hijacked this thread
  13. Here's my list of dudes who were backups and ended up starters - success or not Brunell - backed up Favre Hasselbeck - backed up Favre Aaron Brooks - backed up Favre Schaub - backed up Vick Elvis Grbac - Had some success, backed up Steve Young Trent green - kind of? Took Frerottes job, got injured... Lost his STL job to Warner... ended up in KC where he was pretty good Brad Johnson - backed up Moon, then Cunningham.. then played for like 3 other teams and won a super bowl Jake Delhomme - backed up a few guys in NO before playing a bunch in carolina Hostetler - played quite a few years for Oakland after backing up Simms Chris Chandler - backup on quite a few teams before success with Atlanta (went to a super bowl) Steve Beuerlein - Similar to chandler - mercenary backup/borderline. Sat behind aikman Scott Mitchell - Sat behind Marino - had some decent success with detroit Kyle Orton - Started a bunch, but was Grossmans backup. Ended up doing alright in denver, and alright in buffalo. Stan Humphries - backed up Mark Rypien Jeff Blake - Drafted and sat for NYJ - played a bunch for Cinn and a few other teams. Very little success I just did mostly the 90s, because im only 29 and don't know much about before I was born. So... theres what 1 super bowl win with Brad Johnson (hostetler won when he was a backup). Then 3 losers in Chandler, Delhomme, and hasselbeck. Wouldn't say much "greatness"... Delhomme, Hasselbeck, and Brunell had some pretty solid sustained success FWIW. Oh and one thing i noticed when i looked up hasselbeck - This atrocious stat line in the super bowl from big ben: 9/21 for 123 and 2 picks... He did add a TD on the ground... but the only TD pass was from Randle-el. Gross.
  14. I know there's specifically mechanics guys a lot of people hire. I know wentz is working with Adam Dedeaux who has worked with a bunch of people in the past. I think its a lot of exercises to get stronger and more flexible in the throwing arm and motion. Working on footwork mishaps. And for Wentz probably that hitchy delivery he has. Bortles has a lot of the same problems.
  15. There are some fundamental drills that you'll work on with a QB in camp/OTAs but practice time is so limited that you would rather practice executing plays. Not to mention, in the limited time you work on something you don't build the type of muscle memory needed to adjust a QB's throw style when the bullets are flying. These are things QBs will typically have to work on on their own time outside of "practice" with the QB coach. I thought a QB coach focused more on film study with the QBs. Finding defensive tendencies, going through the playbook for the week... etc.
  16. Right... the QB coach - all the DB guys, dline guy. No - they released their ST assistant!
  17. What about PB in 2015? Also Seantrel was drafted in 2015 Fwiw.
  18. Wow - definitely coming to buffalo. See you week 7!!
  19. And from that metric we are truly bad. The only time the defense took care of business really were Baltimore, NE (injured 3rd string QB), LA (worst offense in the league), SF (2nd worst offense int he league- and one of the worst defenses to boot), and zona (with a ST assist on the blocked field goal for a TD that broke the game open).
  20. The team's were not talented. If anything he cost us a shot at Cam by trying to keep his job. We were rewarded with Dareus... Even though i still liked AJ green there. I wanted Dez in 2010 too... Instead we never got receivers and ran a spread offense... makes no sense!! Stevie got the volume because he was legit the only target
  21. Saw some highlights. He seems to play to the ball. We just used him like 90% as a rush backer. Looks like he can play some SAM for us though. Rush the QB a bit, drop into zones in cover 2 and follow the flat in cover 3. Probably where Preston Brown plays unless they feel like he's fast enough to play will (which he isnt..) As i said in another thread (this one is legit about Defense and you still make it somehow about Tyrod...) What are you using as a "total defense" ranking? By DVOA (http://www.footballo...om/info/methods) we were ranked 26th - and only ahead of 1 playoff team in Atlanta (who was ranked 1st on offense). Buffalo was ranked 10th on offense (ahead of several playoff teams - KC, MIA, DET, SEA, NYG, and HOU).

  23. Linebacker's are relied upon in coverage, and no one is sure how he'd play on the defensive line. I think he'd be a good depth signing as he seems willing and able to just play wherever you put him. Could be a backup end/SAM though
  24. So... actual money is 40 over two years under 2 very reasonable cap hits. then a cap hit of what, 10 (5+5) if we were to cut him in 2019? The caps going up... and it ain't ur money. If the coaches wanna keep him, I'm inclined to pay him. Even on a bad contract. Tannys contract puts him at a 20 mil hit this year... and he is not good.
  25. You can't have the KOS. That's the big wasted spot. NE has Ebner and Slater - but they have the luxury of multiple guys who can return punts while we have needed a specialist. So they care K/P/LS, Ebner, Slater, and use edelman for PR.
